In the second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, this message from the Lord came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest:
2 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih: hae kaminawk mah, Angraeng ih im sak hanah, atue pha ai vop, tiah thuih o.
The Lord of hosts says: The people say that the time has not yet come to rebuild the temple of the Lord.
3 To pacoengah Angraeng ih lok to Tahmaa Haggai khae hoiah angzoh;
Then this message from the Lord came to Haggai the prophet:
4 hae im amro naah, kahoih ah pathoep het ih nangmacae im ah oh hanah atue mah phak boeh maw? tiah a naa.
Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your own well-roofed houses, while this temple lies in ruins?
5 To pongah vaihi misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih: Na caeh o haih loklam to kahoih ah poek oh.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your past experiences.
6 Nangcae loe cang pop parai ah na tuk o, toe zetta ni na aah o; na caak o e, zok nam hah o ai: na naek o e, nam hah o ai: nang khuk o e, na bae o ai: kami mah a toksakhaih atho to akhaw kaom tangka tabu thungah ni pacaengh, tiah thuih.
You sow much, but bring in little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but are not filled; you clothe yourselves, but not enough to be warm; and those who earn wages, put those wages in a bag with holes.
7 To pongah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah, Na caeh o haih loklamnawk to kahoih ah poek oh, tiah thuih.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your experiences.
8 Mae nuiah caeh o tahang ah, thing to sin oh loe, im to sah oh, kai pakoeh hanah, a thungah anghoe hoi ka oh han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Go up to the mountains, and bring wood and rebuild the temple; then I will be pleased with it, and I will reveal my glory. The Lord says:
9 Pop parai oephaih na tawnh o, toe khenah, zetta ni na hnuk o; im ah na sinh o naah, kai mah kang hmu pae phaeng. Tipongah to tiah oh loe? tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih. Kai ih im loe amro pongah, kaminawk angmacae im ah cawnh o boih.
You looked for much, and it came to little; and when you brought the harvest home, I blew it away. Why? The Lord of hosts says: Because my temple lies in ruins, while you shelter in your own houses.
10 To pongah nangcae ranui ah kaom van mah dantui to pakaa moe, long mah doeh thingthai athai ai ah oh.
The heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit,
11 To pongah, lawk hoi maenawk, cang hoi kangtha misurtui, situi, akung amprawkhaih long, kaminawk, pacah ih moinawk, ban hoi sak ih hmuennawk angqo boih hanah lok ka paek boeh, tiah thuih.
and I have called forth a drought upon the land and upon the mountains, and upon the grain and the new wine and the oil and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon people and animals, and upon all the labor of your hands.
12 To naah Shealtiel capa Zerubbabel, Jehosadak capa kalen koek qaima, Joshua, anghmat kaminawk loe, angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw mah anih to patoeh baktih toengah, angmacae Angraeng Sithaw ih lok hoi tahmaa Haggai ih loknawk to tang o: kaminawk mah Angraeng to zit o.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, with all the rest of the people, obeyed the command of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him to them. They showed proper respect for the Lord.
13 To pacoengah Angraeng ih laicaeh Haggai mah Angraeng ih lok to kaminawk khaeah thuih pae; Kai loe nangcae hoi nawnto ka oh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Haggai, the prophet of the Lord, as the Lord commanded him, told the people: ‘The Lord says: I am with you.’
14 Angraeng mah Shealtiel capa, Judah prae ukkung, Zerubbabel ih palungthin, Jehozadak capa, kalen koek qaima, Joshua ih palungthin, anghmat kaminawk boih ih palungthin to pathawk pae: nihcae loe angzoh o moe, angmacae, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng im to sak o.
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people, so that they came and worked on the temple of the Lord of hosts, their God,
