< Habakkuk 2 >
1 Toephaih imsang ah kang doet moe, imsang nuiah ka oh han; anih mah tih lok maw na thui tih, tito ka zing moe, kai kasae ang thuih naah timaw ka pathim han, tiah ka khet han.
Upon my watch will I stand, and place myself upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will speak with me, and what I shall answer to my reproof.
2 To naah Angraeng mah lok ang pathim, kai khaeah, Na hnuk ih hmuen to tarik ah, kami mah cawnh hoi kroek thaih hanah thlung kangphaek nuiah kamtueng ah tarik ah, tiah ang naa.
And the Lord answered me, and said, Write down the vision, and make it plain upon the tables, that everyone may read it fluently.
3 Hnuksak ih hmuen loe atue boenghaih kawng, atue khaehhaih kawng ah oh: amsawnlok na ai ni: angzo phrat ai cadoeh, zing ah; angzo tangtang tih, akra mak ai boeh.
For there is yet a vision for the appointed time, and it speaketh of the end, and it will not deceive: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not be delayed.
4 Khenah, amoek kami loe poekhaih toeng ai, toe katoeng kami loe a tanghaih hoiah hing tih:
Behold, disturbed, not at rest is the soul of [the wicked] in him; but the righteous ever liveth in his [trustful] faith.
5 ue, misurtui nae kami loe zaehaih to sak, anih loe im ah a tawnh ih hmuen hoiah zok amhah thai ai: anih koehhaih loe hell baktiah kawk moe, duekhaih baktiah palung khuek tih thai ai, angmah khaeah acaeng kaminawk to pakhueng boih moe, kaminawk to angmah hanah a suek boih. (Sheol )
And though the wine-[drunken] traitor, the proud man, whose house will not stand, who enlargeth his desire as the grave, and is like death, which cannot be satisfied, —though he gather unto him all the nations, and assemble unto him all the people: (Sheol )
6 Hae kaminawk loe anih koeh ai ih patahhaih hoi pahnui thuihaih lok to patoh o tih; nihcae mah, Amsoem ai kaminawk ih hmuenmae lomhaih hoi angraeng kami loe khosak bing! Anih loe nasetto maw hae tiah laiba hoi caeh thai tih? tiah thui o mak ai maw?
Will not all these take up a parable against him, and a proverb and a satire concerning him? and they will say, Woe to him that increaseth what is not his! for how long? and to him that loadeth himself with a burden of guilt!
7 Nihcae loe poek ai pui hoiah nangcae kaek hanah angthawk o mak ai maw? Angthawk o ueloe, palung na phui o sak mak ai maw? Nangcae loe nihcae mah lomh ih hmuen ah na om o tih.
Behold, suddenly will rise up those that afflict thee, and awake those that plague thee, and thou shalt become a booty unto them.
8 Nangcae mah kaminawk athii na long o sak moe, prae hoi vangpui thung ih hmuennawk to na paro pae o; pop parai prae kaminawk to na lomh pongah, kahing kanghmat to ih kaminawk mah nang to na lomh o toeng tih.
Because thou hast despoiled many nations will all the remnant of the people despoil thee; because of the blood of men, and the violence against the land, the town, and all that dwell therein.
9 Karai hmuen tonghaih hoiah loih thai hanah, amsoem ai loklam hoi hnuk ih hmuen hoiah hmuensang ah angmah ih im sah kami loe khosak bing!
Woe to him that obtaineth an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the grasp of the wicked!
10 Paroeai kaminawk hoi kam hoe ah na oh, na imthung takoh na zatsak moe, na hinghaih zaehaih sahsak kami ah na oh.
Thou hast counselled shame to thy house, by cutting off many people, and sinning [against] thy soul.
11 Sipae ah na patoh ih thlungnawk to hang o ueloe, thing thung ih thingphaek mah lok to pathim tih.
For the stone will cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the wood [-work] will answer it.
12 Athii palonghaih hoiah vangpui to sak moe, zaehaih hoiah vangpui angdoesak kami loe khosak bing!
Woe to him that buildeth a city with blood-guiltiness, and layeth the foundation of a town by wrong-doing.
13 Khenah, kaminawk mah tha pathok moe, sak o ih hmuen to azom pui ah oh hanah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah hmai hoiah lokcaek boeh na ai maw?
Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that people shall labor for the very fire, and nations shall weary themselves for naught but vanity!
14 Tuipui loe tuinawk hoiah koi baktih toengah, long loe lensawk Angraeng panoekhaih hoiah koi tih.
For the earth shall be filled with knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
15 Angmah ih imtaeng kami naeksak hanah mu paek kami, anih to mu paquisak moe, nihcae bangkrai ah ohhaih khet hanah, anih han mu pailang paek kami loe khosak bing!
Woe unto him that maketh his neighbors drink, [to thee] that pourest out thy poisonous [wine], and makest them also drunken, in order to look on their nakedness!
Thou art filled with shame instead of glory; drink thou also, and let thy nakedness be uncovered: there shall be turned around thee the cup of the Lord's right hand, and filthy spittle shall be on thy glory.
17 Nang mah kami ih athii to na palong, minawk prae hoi vangpui thung ih hmuennawk to na lomh pae; Lebanon mae nuiah na sak ih athii palonghaih hoiah moinawk to na dueksak baktih toengah, na nuiah pha tih boeh.
For the violence against Lebanon shall cover thee, and the destruction of beasts, which he terrified away; because of the blood of men, and the violence against the land, the town, and all that dwell therein.
18 Krang sah kami mah sakcop ih krang bokhaih loe timaw atho oh! Sakcop ih krang loe amsawnlok patukkung ah ni oh, tipongah krang sah kami mah lok apae thai ai krang to sak moe, a ban hoi sak ih krang to a tang loe?
What profiteth the graven image that its maker hath graven it? the molten image, and a teacher of falsehood? that the maker of his image trusteth therein, while making dumb idols?
19 Thing khaeah, anglawt ah! Lok apae thai ai thlung khaeah, angthawk ah! tiah thui kami loe khosak bing! Khenah, a nuiah sui hoi sum kanglung tui to pazut o, toe a thungah anghahhaih takhi roe om ai. To baktih hmuen mah, kami patuk thai tih maw?
Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake! Rouse up to the dumb stone. Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and no breath whatever is in its bosom.
20 Toe Angraeng loe angmah ih kaciim tempul thungah oh; anih hmaa ah longnawk boih anghngai o duem nasoe.
But the Lord is in his holy temple: be silent before him all the earth.
