< Ezra 8 >

1 Siangpahrang Artaxxerxes dung ah, kai hoi nawnto Babylon hoiah angzo, ahmin pakuemhaih cabu thungah kaom, acaeng ukkungnawk ih ahmin loe hae tiah oh;
Now, these, are their ancestral heads, and their genealogical register, —even of those who came up with me, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king, out of Babylon: —
2 Phinehas ih caanawk thung hoiah Gershom; Ithamar ih caanawk thung hoiah Daniel; David ih caanawk thung hoiah Hattush,
Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom, of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel, —of the sons of David, Hattush;
3 Shekaniah ih acaeng, Parosh ih caanawk thung hoiah Zekariah, anih hoiah nawnto nongpa cumvai, quipangato kaminawk ih ahmin to pakuem o.
Of the sons of Shecaniah, of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah, —and, with him—by genealogical registry of males, a hundred and fifty:
4 Pahath-Moab ih acaeng, Zerahiah ih capa Elihoenai, anih hoi nawnto ah nongpa cumvai hnetto oh o.
Of the sons of Pahath-moab, Eliehoenai, son of Zerahiah, —and, with him, two hundred males;
5 Shekaniah ih acaeng, Jahaziel ih caanawk hoi nawnto ah nongpa cumvai thumto,
Of the sons of Zattu, Shecaniah, the son of Jehaziel, —and, with him, three hundred males;
6 Adin ih acaeng, Jonathan capa Ebed hoi nawnto ah nongpa quipangato,
And, of the sons of Adin, Ebed, son of Jonathan, —and, with him, fifty males;
7 Elam ih acaeng, Athaliah capa Jeshaiah hoi nawnto ah nongpa quisarihto,
And, of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah, son of Athaliah, —and, with him, seventy males;
8 Shephatiah ih acaeng, Michael capa Zebadiah hoi nawnto ah nongpa quitazetto,
And, of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah, son of Michael, —and, with him, eighty males;
9 Joab ih acaeng, Jehiel capa Obadiah hoi nawnto ah nongpa cumvai hnet, hatlai tazetto,
Of the sons of Joab, Obadiah, son of Jehiel, and, with him, two hundred and eighteen males;
10 Shelomith ih acaeng, Josiphiah capa hoi nawnto ah nongpa cumvai, quitarukto,
And, of the sons of Bani, Shelomith, son of Josiphiah, —and, with him, a hundred and sixty males;
11 Bebai ih acaeng, Bebai capa Zekariah hoi nawnto nongpa pumphae tazetto,
And, of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah, son of Bebai, and, with him, twenty-eight males;
12 Azgad ih acaeng, Hakkatan capa Johanan hoi nawnto ah nongpa cumvai, hato,
And, of the sons of Azgad, Johanan, son of Hakkatan, —and, with him, a hundred and ten males;
13 Adonikam ih acaeng, hnukkhuem ah kaom, Eliphelet, Jeiel, Shemaiah hoi nawnto ah nongpa quitarukto,
And, of the later sons of Adonikam, these being their names, Eliphelet, Jeuel, and Shemaiah, —and, with them, sixty males;
14 Bigvai ih acaeng, Uthai hoi Zabbud hoi nawnto ah nongpa quisarihto oh o.
And, of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud, —and, with him, seventy males.
15 Nihcae to Ahava bangah kalong vapui ah kaminawk to kam khuengsak moe, to ah ni thumto kahni imthung ah ka cam o; kaminawk hoi qaimanawk ka pakoep naah, Levi kami maeto doeh ka hnu ai.
And I gathered them together, unto the river that cometh into Ahava, and we encamped there three days, —and I informed myself among the people and the priests, and, of the sons of Levi, found I none there.
16 To pongah zaehoikung ah kaom Elierzer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zekariah, Meshullam, palungha kami, Joiarib hoi Elnathan cae to ka kawk moe,
So I sent for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men, —also for Joiarib and for Elnathan, teachers.
17 nihcae to Kasiphia vangpui kaminawk zaehoikung Iddo khaeah ka patoeh, Iddo khaeah, Kasiphia vangpui ih Sithaw im ah toksah angmah ih nawkamyanawk, kaicae Sithaw im ah toksak han ih angzoh haih hanah lok ka thuih pae.
And I sent them forth unto Iddo the chief, at the place Casiphia, —and I put into their mouth words, to speak unto Iddo and his brethren the Nethinim, at the place Casiphia, to bring unto us attendants for the house of our God.
18 Aicae nuiah aicae Sithaw hoihhaih ban to amtueng pongah, nihcae mah ahmin kamthang kami, Israel capa Levi, Levi capa Mahli caanawk thung ih, Sherebiah hoi a capanawk, angmah ih nawkamya hatlai tazetto anih hoi nawnto angzoh.
So they brought unto us, according to the good hand of our God upon us, a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli, son of Levi, son of Israel, —and Sherebiah, and his sons and his brethren, eighteen;
19 Hashabiah, Merari acaeng, Jeshaiah, angmah ih nawkamyanawk hoi a caanawk pumphaeto doeh ka patoeh o.
and Hashabiah, and, with him, Jeshaiah, of the sons of Merari, —his brethren and their sons, twenty;
20 Levinawk abomh hanah, David hoi angmah ih angraengnawk mah suek ih, ahmin tarik ah kaom im thungah toksah kaminawk, cumvai hnet, pumphaeto angzoh o haih.
and, of the Nethinim whom David and the rulers had given for the service of the Levites, Nethinim, two hundred and twenty, —all of them, expressed by name.
21 To naah Sithaw mah, ka tawnh o ih hmuennawk, nawktanawk hoi kaicae khaeah toenghaih loklam to patuek hanah, Sithaw hmaa ah, buhzah hanah, Ahava vapui taengah lok ka thuih pae.
Then proclaimed I there a fast, by the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, —to seek of him a smooth way, for us and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
22 Siangpahrang khaeah, Kaicae Sithaw tahmenhaih ban loe anih pakrong kaminawk boih nuiah oh, toe anih pahnawt kaminawk nuiah loe, kalen parai palungphuihaih to oh, tiah ka thuih boeh pongah, loklam ah kaicae ih misa ban thung hoiah abomh hanah, siangpahrang khaeah misatuh kami hoi hrang angthueng kaminawk hnik hanah ka zat.
For I was ashamed to ask of the king, a band of soldiers and horsemen, to help us against the enemy in the way, because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God, is upon all who seek him, for good, But, his power and his anger, are against all who forsake him.
23 To pongah buh ka zah o moe, lawkthuihaih hoiah kaicae ih Sithaw khaeah ka hnik o, anih mah kaicae lawkthuihaih lok to ang tahngaih pae.
So we fasted and sought of our God, concerning this, —and he suffered himself to be entreated by us.
24 Kalen koek qaima hatlai hnetto, Sherebiah, Hashabiah hoi angmah ih nawkamya hatonawk to ka tapraek pacoengah,
Then I separated, from among the rulers of the priests, twelve, —even Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and, with them, from among their brethren, ten;
25 siangpahrang hoi poekhaih kahoih paek kaminawk, angmah ih kaminawk, angraengnawk hoi Israel kaminawk boih mah, aicae Sithaw im hanah paek o ih sui, sumkanglung hoi laom sabaenawk to ka noek pae.
and weighed unto them, the silver and the gold, and the utensils, —the heave-offering for the house of our God, which the king and his counselors and his rulers and all Israel who were present, had offered:
26 Nihcae khaeah sumkanglung talent cumvai taruk, quipangato, sumkanglung hoi sak ih laom sabaenawk talent cumvaito, sui talent cumvaito,
I even weighed unto their hand, of silver, six hundred and fifty talents, and, of utensils of silver, a hundred talents, —of gold, a hundred talents;
27 Dram sangto kating, sui boengloeng pumphaeto, sui baktiah atho kana, sumkamling hoiah sak ih boengloeng hnetto doeh ka tah pae.
and, bowls of gold, twenty, of a thousand drams, —and, utensils of fine bright bronze, two, precious as gold.
28 Nihcae khaeah, Nangcae loe Angraeng hanah na ciim o; laom sabaenawk doeh ciim; sui hoi sumkanglungnawk loe nam panawk ih Sithaw khaeah paek koehhaih palungthin hoiah na paek o ih hmuen ah ni oh.
Then said I unto them, Ye, are hallowed unto Yahweh, and, the utensils, are hallowed, —and, the silver and the gold, are a freewill offering, unto Yahweh, God of your fathers:
29 Hae hmuennawk loe Jerusalem ih Angraeng imthung ah, kacoehta ah kaom qaimanawk, Levinawk hoi Israel caanawk hmaa ah na tah o ai karoek to toep oh loe, pakuem oh, tiah ka naa.
Watch and guard, until ye weigh [them] before the rulers of the priests and the Levites and the ancestral rulers of Israel, in Jerusalem, —in the chambers of the house of Yahweh.
30 To pongah Jerusalem ih kaicae Sithaw im ah sin hanah, sumkanglung, sui hoi laom sabaenawk to qaima hoi Levinawk mah tah o.
So the priests and the Levites accepted the weight of the silver and the gold, and the utensils, —to bring to Jerusalem, unto the house of our God.
31 Amtong tangsuekhaih khrah, ni hatlai hnetto naah, Ahava vapui hoi kang thawk o moe, Jerusalem ah ka caeh o; Sithaw ih ban kaicae nuiah oh pongah, anih mah lam taengah angang, misa ban thung hoiah ang loihsak.
Then brake we up from the river of Ahava, on the twelfth of the first month, to journey unto Jerusalem, —and, the hand of our God, was upon us, and he delivered us from the grasp of the enemy and of the lier in wait, by the way.
32 To tiah Jerusalem to ka phak o moe, ni thumto kang hak o.
So we came to Jerusalem, —and we rested there, three days.
33 Ni palito naah loe qaima Uriah capa Meremoth mah, sui, sumkanglung hoi laom sabaenawk to aicae Sithaw imthung ah tah pae; Phinehas capa Eleazar, Levi acaeng, Joshua capa Jozabad hoi Binnui capa Noadiah doeh to ah oh o toeng.
And, on the fourth day, was weighed—the silver and the gold and the utensils, in the house of our God, unto the hand of Meremoth son of Uriah, the priest, and, with him, was Eleazar son of Phinehas, —and, with them, were Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui, Levites:
34 Hmuen boih kroek o moe, a tah o; a tah o ih kazit hmuen loe to ih cabu thungah pakuem o boih.
by the number and by the weight of the whole, —and all the weight, was written down, at that time.
35 To pacoengah misong laemhhaih thung hoiah kaloih kaminawk mah Israel Sithaw khaeah hmai angbawnhaih to sak o; Israel caanawk boih hanah, maitaw tae hatlai hnetto, tuu tae qui takawt, tarukto, tuucaa qui sarih, sarihto, zae angbawnhaih maeh tae hatlai hnetto a paek o; hae boih loe Angraeng khaeah hmai angbawnhaih sak hanah paek ih hmuen ah oh.
They who came in out of the captivity, Sons of the Exile, offered as ascending-sacrifices unto the God of Israel—bullocks twelve for all Israel, rams ninety-six, young sheep seventy-seven, he-goats for bearing sin, twelve, —the whole, as an ascending-sacrifice unto Yahweh.
36 Siangpahrang lokpaekhaih to siangpahrang toksak bomkung hoi vapui yaeh ukkungnawk khaeah thuih pae o; nihcae mah Israel kaminawk hoi Sithaw im to sak abomh o.
Then delivered they the decrees of the king, unto the satraps of the king, and the pashas Beyond the River, —and they upheld the people and the house of God.
