< Ezekiel 8 >
1 Saning taruk, khrah tarukto haih, ni pangato naah, kaimah im ah kang hnut, to naah Judah kacoehtanawk ka hmaa ah anghnut o, to ah Angraeng ih ban ka nuiah oh.
On the fifth day of the sixth month [of that year], almost six years after we Israeli people had been (exiled/forced to go to Babylon), I was sitting in my house. The elders of Judah were sitting in front of me. Suddenly the power [MTY] of Yahweh the Lord came on me.
2 Ka khet naah, Hmai baktiah krang to amtueng; kaeng tlim loe hmai baktiah oh moe, kaeng ranui loe kampha sum baktiah oh.
[in a vision] I saw someone who resembled a man. Below his waist, [his body] was like fire, and above his waist [his body] was glowing like very hot metal.
3 To tiah kamtueng krang loe ban baktiah oh, a ban to phok tahang moe, ka lu ih sam to patawnh; Sithaw hnuksakhaih hoiah Muithla mah van hoi long salakah ang tapom tahang moe, Jerusalem aluek bangah ang caeh haih. Aluek bang ih khongkha im a thungah ang hoih. To ah Sithaw mah panuet ih krang suekhaih ahmuen to oh, to hmuen mah uthaih palungthin to tacawtsak.
He reached out what seemed to be a hand and grabbed me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up high above the earth, and in visions God took me [from Babylon] to Jerusalem. He took me [to the temple], to the north gate, to the place where there was an idol that caused Yahweh to be very disgusted and furious.
4 Khenah, azawn ah ka oh naah ka hnuk ih hnuksakhaih baktih toengah, to ah Israel Sithaw lensawkhaih to kai khaeah amtueng.
And there in front of me was the brilliant light that indicated the presence of the God whom the Israeli [people previously worshiped. It was] like the vision that I had seen alongside the Kebar River/Canal.
5 To pacoengah anih mah kai khaeah, Kami capa, aluek bang khen tahang ah, tiah ang naa. To pongah ka khet tahang, to naah hmaicam aluek bang akunhaih khongkha ah panuet thok krang to ka hnuk.
Yahweh said to me, “You human, look toward the north!” So I looked, and I saw in the entrance of the gate near the altar that idol that caused Yahweh to be disgusted and furious.
6 Anih mah kai khaeah, Kami capa, Kaimah ih hmuenciim to ka caeh taak ving hanah, Israel imthung takoh mah hae ahmuen ah sak o ih thui laek ai panuet thok hmuen to na hnuk maw? Toe amlaem let rae ah, hae pongah panuet thok kue a sak o ih hmuennawk to na hnu vop tih, tiah ang naa.
He said to me, “You human, do you see what those Israeli people [MTY] are doing? They are doing detestable things here, things that will cause me to abandon my temple. But you will see things that are even more detestable.”
7 To pacoengah anih mah khongkha thung ih longhma ah ang caeh haih; ka khet naah, tapang nuiah akhaw maeto ka hnuk.
Then he brought me to the entrance of the courtyard. I looked and saw a hole in the wall.
8 Anih mah kai khaeah, Kami capa, tapang to takae vawk ah, tiah ang naa; tapang to ka takaeh naah, thok maeto ka hnuk.
He said to me, “You human, dig through the wall here.” So I dug through the wall, and I saw a doorway inside.
9 Anih mah kai khaeah, Athung bangah caeh ah loe, nihcae mah hae ah sak o ih kasae hmuen hoi panuet thok hmuennawk to khenah, tiah ang naa.
He said to me, “Go in and see the wicked and detestable things that they are doing there!”
10 To pongah ka kun moe, ka khet naah, tapang nuiah soi o ih zok hoi kavak moi krangnawk, panuet thok moi kasan krangnawk hoi Israel imthung takoh mah bok ih krangnawk to ka hnuk.
So I went in through the doorway and looked, and I saw, all over the [of a big room, drawings of] all kinds of creatures that scurry across the ground and [other] detestable animals, and drawings of all the idols that the people of [were worshiping].
11 Nihcae hmaa ah Israel imthung takoh kacoehtanawk qui sarihto angdoet o, nihcae um ah Shaphan capa Jaazaniah to angdoet. Nihcae mah hmuihoih tui to ban ah sin o boih, hmuihoih tui akhue loe ranui bangah caeh tahang.
In front of them stood 70 elders of Israel. Jaazaniah, the son of Shaphan, was standing among them. Each of them was holding a pan in which incense was burning, and fragrant smoke of the burning incense was rising up.
12 Anih mah kai khaeah, Kami capa, Israel imthung takoh kacoehtanawk boih mah, krang suekhaih im thungah tamquta hoi a sak o ih hmuen to na hnuk boeh maw? Angraeng mah prae pahnawt sut boeh pongah, anih mah aicae hnu mak ai boeh, tiah a poek o, tiah ang naa.
Yahweh said to me, “You human, look at [RHQ] what the Israeli elders are doing here in the darkness, each of them standing in front of the shrine of his own idol! They are saying, ‘Yahweh does not see us; Yahweh has deserted this country.’”
13 To pacoengah anih mah kai khaeah, Nihcae mah sak o ih panuet thok kue hmuennawk to na hnu vop tih, tiah ang naa.
He also said, “But you will see things that are even more detestable!”
14 To pacoengah Angraeng im ranui bang akunhaih khongkha taengah ang caeh haih; to ah Tammuz kaqah haih, anghnu nongpatanawk to ka hnuk.
Then he took me to the entrance at the north gate of the temple. I saw women sitting there, mourning for [the death of the god of the people of Babylonia], Tammuz.
15 Anih mah kai khaeah, Aw kami capa, hae hmuen hae na hnuk boeh maw? Amlaem let rae ah, hae hmuen pongah panuet thok kue hmuennawk to na hnu vop tih, tiah ang naa.
He said to me, “You human, you see this [RHQ], but you will see things that are more detestable than this!”
16 To pacoengah anih mah Angraeng imthung ih longhma ah ang caeh haih, khenah, Angraeng ih im akunhaih khongkha, im hma hoi hmaicam salakah kami pumphae pangato oh o, nihcae loe Angraeng ih im to angqoi o taak moe, ni angzae bangah anghae o; tacawt tahang ni to a bok o.
Then he took me into the courtyard outside the temple. There at the entrance of the temple, between the porch and the altar, were about 25 men. Their backs were toward the temple and their faces were toward the east, and they were bowing down to [worship] the sun [as it rose] in the east.
17 Anih mah kai khaeah, Kami capa, hae hmuen hae na hnuk boeh maw? Judah imthung takoh mah hae tih khoek to ah maw panuet thok kasae hmuennawk to hae ahmuen ah sak o? Nihcae mah prae to patangkhanghaih hoi raihaih hoiah koi o sak moe, kai palung ang phui o sak; khenah, nihcae loe angmacae hnah ah thing tahang to takaek o.
He said to me, “You human, you see [RHQ] what they are doing. [Do you think that] it is not important that these men of Judah are doing these detestable things here? [But they are doing other terrible things]. They are acting violently throughout their country, and continually causing me to be angry. Look at them! They are insulting me by their actions [IDM]!
18 To pongah hae kaminawk nuiah palung ka phui thuih han; tahmenhaih mik hoiah ka khen mak ai boeh, paquemh roe ka paquemh mak ai boeh. Ka naa taengah hang o khing cadoeh, nihcae ih lok to ka tahngai pae mak ai boeh, tiah a thuih.
So I will show them that I am very angry. I will not pity them or act mercifully toward them. And even if they shout to me [to help them], I will not pay attention to them.”
