< Ezekiel 33 >

1 Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 kami capa, nangmah ih acaengnawk khaeah lokthui ah, nihcae khaeah, prae maeto khaeah sumsen ka sinh naah, prae kaminawk mah misatoep kami maeto suem o nahaeloe,
“Son of man, speak to your people and tell them: ‘Suppose I bring the sword against a land, and the people of that land choose a man from among them, appointing him as their watchman,
3 to kami mah prae thungah angzo sumsen to hnuk naah, kaminawk acoe hanah, mongkah to ueng tih;
and he sees the sword coming against that land and blows the ram’s horn to warn the people.
4 mi kawbaktih mah doeh mongkah lok to a thaih, toe acoe ai pongah sumsen mah a hinghaih to la ving nahaeloe, anih ih athii loe angmah lu nuiah krah let tih.
Then if anyone hears the sound of the horn but fails to heed the warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head.
5 Mongkah lok to a thaih, toe acoe ai pongah, angmah ih athii loe angmah lu nuiah krah let tih. Toe acoehaih tawn kami loe a hinghaih to pahlong tih.
Since he heard the sound of the horn but failed to heed the warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.
6 Misatoep kami loe angzo sumsen to a hnuk, toe mongkah to ueng ai, kaminawk han acoehaih paek ai pongah, sumsen to angzo moe, kami maeto hinghaih to la nahaeloe, to kami loe angmah zaehaih pongah hinghaih to lak ah oh, toe anih ih athii tho loe misatoep kami khaeah ka lak han, tiah thuih.
But if the watchman sees the sword coming and fails to blow the horn to warn the people, and the sword comes and takes away a life, then that one will be taken away in his iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.’
7 Aw kami capa, nang loe Israel imthung takhoh toepkung ah kang suek boeh; to pongah ka thuih ih lok hae tahngai ah loe, ka lok hoi nihcae to acoehaih paek ah.
As for you, O son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word from My mouth and give them the warning from Me.
8 Kahoih ai kami khaeah kaimah, Aw kami zae, nang loe na dueh tangtang tih, tiah ka thuih; to naah kahoih ai kami a caehhaih loklam hoi amlaem let hanah acoehaih na paek ai pongah, to kami zae to a zaehaih pongah dueh ving nahaeloe, a nih ih athi tho to na ban ah ka suk han.
If I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to dissuade him from his way, then that wicked man will die in his iniquity, yet I will hold you accountable for his blood.
9 Toe kami zae a caehhaih loklam hoi amlaem let hanah acoehaih lok na thuih pae to mah, a caehhaih loklam hoiah amlaem let ai, to naah anih loe a zaehaih pongah dueh ving nahaeloe, na hinghaih to na pahlong boeh.
But if you warn the wicked man to turn from his way, and he does not turn from it, he will die in his iniquity, but you will have saved your life.
10 To pongah kami capa, Israel imthung takoh khaeah, Aicae loe aimacae sakpazaehaih hoi zaehaih to a phawh o moe, tha a zok o nahaeloe, kawbangmaw a hing o thai tih? tiah thui paeh.
Now as for you, son of man, tell the house of Israel that this is what they have said: ‘Our transgressions and our sins are heavy upon us, and we are wasting away because of them! How can we live?’
11 Nihcae khaeah, Kai ka hing baktih toengah, kami zae duekhaih nuiah anghoehaih ka tawn ai, toe kami zae to a caehhaih loklam hoiah amlaem let moe, hinghaih hnuk pongah anghoehaih ka tawnh, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih; amlaem ah, kahoih ai na loklamnawk hoiah amlaem ah; Aw Israel imthung takoh, tipongah na duek han loe? tiah thui paeh.
Say to them: ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked should turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’
12 To pongah kami capa, nangmah ih acaengnawk khaeah, Katoeng kami mah zaehaih sah let nahaeloe, canghni ih toenghaih mah anih to pahlong thai mak ai; kasae kami mah a sakpazaehaih to amlaem taak nahaeloe, canghni ih zaehaih mah anih to amtimsak mak ai; katoeng kami doeh zaehaih sah let nahaeloe, canghni ih toenghaih mah anih to hingsak thai mak ai.
Therefore, son of man, say to your people: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked man cause him to stumble on the day he turns from his wickedness. Nor will the righteous man be able to survive by his righteousness on the day he sins.’
13 Kami katoeng khaeah, Anih loe hing tangtang tih, tiah ka thuih; toe anih loe a toenghaih to oep pongah, kahoih ai hmuen to sah nahaeloe, canghni ah a sak ih katoeng hmuen maeto mataeng doeh pakuem pae mak ai; anih loe a sak ih kasae hmuen pongah dueh tih.
If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but he then trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, then none of his righteous works will be remembered; he will die because of the iniquity he has committed.
14 Kami zae khaeah, Nang loe na dueh tangtang tih, tiah ka naa; toe anih loe a zaehaih thung hoiah amlaem let moe, zaehoihhaih daan baktiah katoeng hmuen to a sak;
But if I tell the wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ and he turns from his sin and does what is just and right—
15 kami zae mah kang paek let han hmang, tiah sak ih lokkamhaih baktiah anih mah coi ih hmuen to paek let, a paquk ih hmuen doeh a paek let moe, zaehaih sah ai ah hinghaih loklam to pazui nahaeloe, anih loe dueh mak ai, hing tangtang tih.
if he restores a pledge, makes restitution for what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without practicing iniquity—then he will surely live; he will not die.
16 A sak ih zaehaihnawk maeto doeh pakuem pae mak ai boeh; katoeng hmuen hoi zaehhoihaih daan baktiah hmuen to a sak boeh pongah, anih loe hing tangtang tih.
None of the sins he has committed will be held against him. He has done what is just and right; he will surely live.
17 Toe nang ih acaengnawk mah, Angraeng lokcaekhaih loe toeng ai, tiah thuih o; toe nihcae lokcaekhaih ni toeng ai.
Yet your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But it is their way that is not just.
18 Katoeng kami loe a toenghaih to caehtaak moe, hmuen kasae sah nahaeloe, anih loe a sak ih hmuen pongah dueh tih.
If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he will die for it.
19 Toe kami zae loe a zaehaih hoi amlaem moe, zaehhoihaih daan baktiah kahoih hmuen hoi katoeng hmuen to sah nahaeloe, a sak ih hmuen pongah anih loe hing tih.
But if a wicked man turns from his wickedness and does what is just and right, he will live because of this.
20 Toe nangcae mah Sithaw lokcaekhaih loe toeng ai, tiah na thuih o; Aw Israel imthung takoh, kami boih a caeh o haih loklam baktih toengah lok ka caek han, tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But I will judge each of you according to his ways, O house of Israel.”
21 Tamna ah ohhaih saning hathlai hnetto, krah hato haih, ni pangato naah, Jerusalem hoi loih kami maeto kai khaeah angzoh moe, vangpui loe amtimh boeh, tiah ang thuih.
In the twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth day of the tenth month, a fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and reported, “The city has been taken!”
22 To tiah kacawn kami to kai khae angzo ai na ih ani duembang ah, Angraeng ih ban ka nuiah oh; akhawnbang ah loe to kami to kai khaeah angzoh, to naah kai ih pakha ang paongh pae, to pongah kai ih pakha loe amongh, to naah kai loe lokaa ah ka om ai boeh.
Now the evening before the fugitive arrived, the hand of the LORD was upon me, and He opened my mouth before the man came to me in the morning. So my mouth was opened and I was no longer mute.
23 To naah Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
24 kami capa, kamro Israel prae ah kaom kaminawk mah, Abraham angmah khue mataeng doeh, prae to a toep; aicae loe a pop o parai, to pongah prae toep hanah aicae han paek boeh, tiah thuih o.
“Son of man, those living in the ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as a possession.’
25 To pongah nihcae khaeah, Angraeng Sithaw mah, Nangcae loe athii hoiah moi to na caak o, na sak o ih krangnawk na bok o moe, kami ih athii to na palong o, to tiah nahaeloe kawbangmaw prae to na toep o vop tih?
Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘You eat meat with the blood in it, lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. Should you then possess the land?
26 Nangmacae ih sumsen pongah nam ha o moe, panuet thok hmuen to na sak o, na imtaeng kaminawk ih zu to na parueng pae o, to tiah nahaeloe kawbangmaw prae to na toep o thai vop tih? tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
You have relied on your swords, you have committed detestable acts, and each of you has defiled his neighbor’s wife. Should you then possess the land?’
27 Angraeng Sithaw mah, Hae kaminawk khaeah, Kai ka hing baktih toengah, kamro prae thungah kaom kaminawk loe sumsen hoiah amtim o tih, azawn ah kaom kaminawk loe moi kasannawk ih rawkcak ah ka paek han, kacak sipae thung hoi thlung khaw thungah kaom kaminawk loe, kasae nathaih hoiah dueh o tih.
Tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘As surely as I live, those in the ruins will fall by the sword, those in the open field I will give to be devoured by wild animals, and those in the strongholds and caves will die by plague.
28 Kai mah prae to kanung aep ah ka pongsak sut moe, thacak anih amoekhaih to ka boengsak han; Israel ih maenawk loe pong o sut tih, mi doeh to ah caeh o mak ai boeh.
I will make the land a desolate waste, and the pride of her strength will come to an end. The mountains of Israel will become desolate, so that no one will pass through.
29 A sak o ih panuet thok hmuennawk pongah, prae to kanung aep ah ka pongsak sut naah, nihcae mah Kai loe Angraeng ni, tito panoek o tih, tiah thuih.
Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have made the land a desolate waste because of all the abominations they have committed.’
30 To pacoengah Kami capa, nangmah ih acaengnawk mah, nang kawng to sipae hoi khongkhanawk taengah a thuih o, angmah ih nawkamya khaeah, Angraeng khae hoi angzo lok to tahngaih hanah angzo ah, tiah a naa o.
As for you, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One speaks to another, each saying to his brother, ‘Come and hear the message that has come from the LORD!’
31 Minawk mah sak o ih baktih toengah, kai ih kaminawk loe nang khaeah angzoh o, kai ih kaminawk baktiah na hmaa ah anghnut o moe, na lok to tahngai o, toe sah o mak ai; pakha hoiah amlunghaih to a thuih o, toe nihcae ih palung loe uthaih hoiah koi o.
So My people come to you as usual, sit before you, and hear your words; but they do not put them into practice. Although they express love with their mouths, their hearts pursue dishonest gain.
32 Khenah, nang loe nihcae hanah katoeng kruek kop, taaw kahoih kami maeto mah sak ih, koeh koi kaom laa baktiah na oh pae, nihcae loe na lok to thaih o, toe sah o ai.
Indeed, you are to them like a singer of love songs with a beautiful voice, who skillfully plays an instrument. They hear your words but do not put them into practice.
33 Toe hae baktih hmuennawk loe pha tangtang tih, to hmuennawk loktang ah phak naah loe khenah, angmacae salakah tahmaa oh vaih boeh, tito nihcae mah panoek o tih, tiah thuih.
So when it comes to pass—and surely it will come—then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”
