< Ezekiel 22 >

1 Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh,
Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
2 kami capa, lok na caek han maw? Athii longsak vangpui lokcaek han nam sak coek boeh maw? Ue, a sak ih panuet thok hmuenawk to amtuengsak boih ah.
“You human, are you ready to condemn the people of Jerusalem? It is [RHQ] a city full of murderers [MTY]. Remind them of all the detestable things that they have done.
3 Anih khaeah, Angraeng Sithaw mah, Vangpui loe a thungah kami athii to longsak moe, angmah amhnong hanah krangnawk to a sak, anih ih atue loe pha tih boeh.
[Then] say, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: By your murdering people and by (defiling yourselves/making yourselves unacceptable to God) by making idols, you people of this city [APO] have brought to yourselves the time when you [will be destroyed].
4 Nang loe na palongh ih athii hoiah na zae boeh moe, na sak ih krangnawk hoiah nam hnong boeh; na hing boenghaih atue loe zoi boeh moe, na saning boenghaih atuenawk doeh phak boeh; to pongah Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah kasae thuih moe, prae congca kaminawk mah pahnui thuih hanah kang sak han, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
You have become guilty by doing both of those things [DOU]. You have brought to an end your time [to remain alive] [DOU]. Therefore I will cause you to become a group whom the [people of other] nations will scorn; they will all laugh at you [DOU].
5 Ahmin kasae, lokpunghaih hoiah kakoi vangpui nang loe kazoi ah om kaminawk hoi angthla ah om kaminawk mah pahnui o thui tih.
People in countries that are near you and people who live far from you will make fun of you, because your city is full of lawless people and full of confusion.
6 Khenah, nang thungah kaom Israel angraengnawk boih loe tha patohhaih hoiah athii long o sak boeh.
Think about how each of your Israeli kings have used their power to cause people to be murdered [MTY].
7 Nang thungah kaom kaminawk mah amno hoi ampa to patoek o: nang thungah kaom kaminawk mah angvinnawk to pacaekthlaek o moe, ampa tawn ai kami hoi lamhmainawk doeh pacaekthlaek o.
Your people do not respect/honor their parents; they have oppressed foreigners; they mistreat orphans and widows.
8 Kai ih kaciim hmuennawk to na patoek moe, kai ih Sabbath doeh panuet om ah na sak.
You despise my sacred places and (dishonor/do not respect) the Sabbath days.
9 Kami athii palong han pacuek kaminawk loe nang thungah oh o; maenawk nuiah buh caa kaminawk doeh nang thungah oh o, zaehaih sah kaminawk doeh nang thungah ni khosak o.
Among you are men who tell lies in order to cause others to be executed [MTY]. There are those who [food offered to idols] at the hilltop [shrines], and they perform disgusting sexual acts.
10 Nang thungah ampa iihhaih ahmuen amhnongsak kaminawk to oh o; athii kalong nongpata hoi iip kaminawk doeh nang thungah oh o.
There are men who have sex with their father’s wives [EUP], and men who have sex with women during their monthly menstrual periods.
11 Nang thung ih kami maeto loe a imtaeng kami ih zu hoiah panuet thok hmuen to sak, kalah thoemto kaminawk mah loe a capa ih zu to muk pae o, nang thung ih kalah thoemto kaminawk loe angmah ih tanuh, ampa ih canu to zae o haih.
There are men who have sex with someone else’s wife. Some men have sex with their daughters-in-law or with their sisters or half-sisters.
12 Nang thung ih kami mah athii palong hanah tangqum to lak o; a caa kapung caak hanah phoisa to na coisak, na imtaeng kaminawk ih hmuenmae to na lomh pae o moe, kai nang pahnet o boeh, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
There are among you men who accept bribes in order to cause someone to be executed [MTY]. You charge high interest when you lend people money. You become rich by forcing people to give you money. [the worst thing is that] you have forgotten me, Yahweh the Lord.
13 Khenah, na lomh ih hmuennawk hoi nang thungah kalong athii pongah, ban ka tabaeng.
So I will shake my fists at you to show that I am angry with you because of your stealing money from people and murdering [MTY] people who live among you.
14 Lok kang caek naah, na palung mah khaang thaih ueloe, na ban thacak poe tih maw? Kai Angraeng loe ka thuih ih lok baktih toengah ka sak han.
When I [punishing] you, you will no longer [RHQ] be courageous/brave [DOU]. I, Yahweh, have said [what I will do to you], and I will do it.
15 Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah kang haehsak phang moe, prae congca boih ah kam hetsak han, nam hnonghaih doeh kang pasaeh pae han.
I will cause you to be scattered among many nations [DOU], and I will cause you to stop your sinful behavior.
16 Nangcae loe Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah panuet thok ah na om o tih, to pacoengah Kai loe Angraeng ni, tiah na panoek o tih, tiah thuih.
When [the people of other] nations see that you have been humiliated, you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’”
17 To pacoengah Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh,
Yahweh [also] said to me,
18 kami capa, Israel imthung takoh loe kai hanah sum aek ah ni oh boeh; nihcae boih loe sum pakawhaih hmai kamngaeh thung ih rong kamling sum, camphaeh, sum hoi kanglung sumtui baktiah oh o moe, sum aek ah ni a oh o.
“You human, your Israeli people [MTY] have [useless] to me. They are [like] [MET] dross/slag to me. They are like [SIM] [worthless] copper, tin, iron, and lead that remains after silver is melted in [very hot] furnace.
19 To pongah Angraeng Sithaw mah, Khenah, nangcae loe sum aek kanglung ah na oh o boih boeh pongah, Jerusalem thungah kang pakhueng o han.
Therefore, this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: Because you have all become [like] dross/slag, I will gather you in Jerusalem.
20 Sum kanglung, sum kamling, sum, sumtui hoi camphaehnawk atui pakaw hanah, sumtui pakawhaih ahmuen ah, hmai pangaeh o thuih baktih toengah, nangcae doeh palungphuihaih hoiah kang lak o moe, vangpui thungah kang pakhueng o pacoengah, atui kang pakaw o han.
People [ore containing] silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin in a [very hot] furnace and melt them in a blazing [to burn up the impurities]. Similarly [SIM], I will gather you [inside Jerusalem], and because I am very angry with you, [what I will do will be as though] I am melting you.
21 Ue, kang lak o moe, palungphuihaih hmai hoiah kang hmuh o thuih han, nangcae loe a thungah atui nam kaw o tih.
[It will be as though] I will blow on you with a hot breath that shows that I am very angry, [it will be as though] you will be melted,
22 Sum kanglung loe hmai kamngaeh thungah atui amkaw baktih toengah, nangcae doeh a thungah atui nam kaw o toeng tih; to naah Kai, Angraeng mah nangcae nuiah palungphuihaih kraih thuih boeh, tito na panoek o tih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
as though you will be melted like [SIM] silver is melted in a furnace, and then you will know that I, Yahweh, have poured out my punishment [MTY] on you.”
23 To pacoengah Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh,
Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
24 kami capa, prae khaeah, Nang loe palungphuihaih niah, kho angzo ai, ciimcai ai prae ah ni na oh, tiah thui paeh.
“You human, say to the Israeli people, ‘[Yahweh] is angry with you, there has been no rain or showers in your country.’
25 To prae thung ih tahmaanawk loe kaipui mah hang moe, moi to kaek baktih toengah, kaminawk ih hinghaih lak hanah pacaeng o boeh; hmuenmae hoi atho kana hmuennawk to a lak o; prae thungah lamhmainawk pop o sak boeh.
Your leaders are like [SIM] lions that tear apart the animals that they have killed. Your leaders destroy their people. They steal treasures and [other] valuable things from people, and they cause many women to become [by murdering their husbands].
26 Anih ih qaimanawk loe ka patuk ih loknawk to aek o moe, kai ih ciimcai hmuennawk to panuet thok ah a sak o; ciimcai hmuen hoi ciimcai ai hmuen to pathlaenghaih tawn o ai; panuet thok hmuen hoi panuet thok ai hmuen doeh pathlaeng o ai; kai ih Sabbath to angqoi o taak moe, nihcae salakah mikhmai ang set o sak.
Their priests disobey my laws and disrespect my sacred things by saying that there is no difference between things that are sacred and those that are not sacred, and by ignoring my laws about honoring the Sabbath days. As a result, they no [longer] honor me.
27 Athung ih angraengnawk doeh moi kaek tasuinawk baktiah oh o, amsoem ai loklam hoi hmuen hak thai hanah, athii long o sak moe, kaminawk to hum o.
Their officials are like [SIM] wolves that tear apart the animals that they have killed: They murder people [DOU] in order to get their money.
28 Tahmaanawk doeh Angraeng mah thui ai to mah, Angraeng Sitawh mah thuih, tiah tidoeh avang ai hnuksakhaih hmuen to a hnuk o, amsawnlok a thuih o moe, nihcae to param long hoiah pazut o.
Their prophets, by falsely saying they have received [from God], and by giving false messages, try to (cover up [MET]/say that it is all right to commit) those sins. They say, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says,’ when I have said nothing to them.
29 Prae thung ih kaminawk loe pacaekthlaekhaih, minawk ih hmuenmae taekhaih, mithoe hoi amtang kaminawk to hnaphnae o; ue, angvinnawk to amsoem ai ah pacaekthlaek o.
The Israeli people force others to give them money, and they rob people. They oppress poor [DOU] people, and they mistreat foreigners among them by not treating them [in the courts].
30 To prae to ka phraek han ai ah pakaakung, sipae salakah ka hmaa ah angdoet moe, pading thaih koi kami to nihcae thungah ka pakrong; toe mi doeh ka hnu ai.
I looked among them to find a man who would cause the people of the city to repent [MET] so that I would not need to get rid of them. But I did not find anyone.
31 To pongah nihcae nuiah palungphuihaih ka kraih moe, palungphuihaih hmai hoiah nihcae to ka paduek han; a sak o ih hmuennawk to angmacae lu nuiah ka kraksak let han, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih, tiah thuih pae han ang naa.
So because I am very angry with them, I will severely punish them [MTY] for [all] the wicked things that they have done. [That will surely happen because I], Yahweh the Lord, have said it.”
