Ezekiel 19
1 Israel siangpahrang qahhaih laa to sah paeh,
[Yahweh said to me, “Ezekiel], sing a sad funeral [a which will be a parable] [two of the] kings of Israel.
2 nam no loe mi aa? Kaipui amno to ni! Anih loe kaipui ampanawk salakah tabok, saning kanawk kaipuinawk salakah a caanawk to pacah.
Say [to the Israeli people], ‘[It is as though] [MET] your mother was a brave female lion who raised her cubs among [other] lions.
3 A caanawk thung ih maeto loe qoeng tahang moe, thacak kaipui ah angcoeng, moi kaek amtuk moe, kaminawk doeh a kaek.
She taught one of them to [for other animals to kill], and he [even] learned [kill and] eat people.
4 Prae boih mah anih kawng to thaih o moe, long khaw thungah anih to naeh o; qui hoi taoengh o moe, Izip prae ah a caeh o haih.
[When people from other] nations heard about him, they trapped him in a pit. Then they used hooks to drag him to Egypt.
5 A caa duekhaih to amno mah hnuk moe, palung boeng naah, kalah a caa maeto tapen let moe, thacak kaipui ah angcoengsak.
His mother waited for him [to return], but [soon] she stopped hoping/expecting [that he would return]. So she raised another cub who [also] became very fierce.
6 Anih loe kaipuinawk salakah oh moe, thacak kaipui ah angcoeng, moi kaek amtuk moe, kaminawk doeh a kaek.
He hunted along with [other] [for animals to kill], and he even learned [kill and] eat people.
7 Anih loe moizoep kaminawk abuephaih im to panoek, nihcae ih vangpuinawk to a phraek pae; a hanghaih lok pongah prae hoi a thungah kaom kaminawk boih anghngai o duem.
He destroyed forts, and he ruined cities. When he roared [loudly], everyone was terrified.
8 To naah a taengah kaom avang kaminawk hoi prae boih ih kaminawk mah anih to kah o moe, anih han palok payang pae o; to tiah anih to long khaw thungah naeh o.
So [people of other] nations planned to kill him, and men came from many places to spread out a net for him, and they caught him in a trap.
9 Anih to hlongthuk o moe, moi paunghaih im thungah khrum o pacoengah, Babylon siangpahrang khaeah caeh o haih; anih hanghaih lok to Israel maenawk nuiah thaih let han ai ah, anih to thongim thungah pakhrak o.
They tied him with chains and took him to Babylonia. And [there] he was locked in a prison, with the result that [no one on] the hills of Israel ever heard him roar again.’ [Also, say to the Israeli people, ]
10 Nam no loe nangmah ih athii angan ah oh moe, kapop tui taengah thling ih misurkung baktiah oh; kapop tui pongah anih loe tanghang to pop moe, athaih doeh pop.
‘[It is as though] [SIM] your mother was a grapevine that was planted along a stream. There was plenty of water, so it had lots of branches and produced [a lot of] grapes.
11 Anih ih tanghangnawk loe ukkung ih cunghet sakhaih thacak tanghang ah oh moe, qoeng o tahang pacoengah, kabuk tanghangnawk salakah kasang koek ah amtueng.
That grapevine grew and became taller than all the nearby trees; [everyone could] see that it was very strong and healthy. And those branches were good for making scepters that symbolize the power/ [of a king].
12 Toe anih mah palungphuihaih hoiah aphong duk moe, long ah a vah, ni angyae bang ih takhi mah athaih to zaeksak; thacak tanghangnawk loe angkhaeh o moe, zaek o boeh pongah, hmai mah kangh boih.
[Yahweh] became very angry, so he pulled up the vine by its roots and threw it on the ground, where the [very hot] winds from the desert dried up all its fruit. The strong branches wilted and were burned in a fire.
13 Anih loe vaihi tui kaom ai, long karoem, praezaek ah ni thling boeh.
Now that vine has been planted in a hot, dry desert.
14 Tanghang maeto thung hoiah hmai to tacawt moe, athaih to kangh boeh, ukkung ih cunghet sak han kahoih thacak tanghangnawk to om ai boeh. Hae loe qahhaih laa ah oh, qahhaih akung pui ah doeh om tih, tiah ang naa.
A fire started to burn its stem, and then started to burn the branches and burned all the grapes. [Now] not [even] one strong branch remains; they will never become scepters for a king.’ That funeral song must be sung very sadly.”
