< Deuteronomy 28 >

1 Na Angraeng Sithaw ih lok tahngai moe, vaihniah kang paek o ih loknawk hae kahoih ah na tahngai o nahaeloe, na Angraeng Sithaw mah long nuiah kaom kaminawk boih pong kasang koek ah na suem o tih.
If you truly obey what the Lord your God tells you, and carefully follow all his commandments that I'm giving you today, then the Lord your God will place you high above all the nations of the earth.
2 Na Angraeng Sithaw ih lok na tahngai o nahaeloe, hae tahamhoihaihnawk boih na nuiah pha ueloe, nangcae khaeah om poe tih.
You will have all the following blessings and even more, if you do what the Lord your God says.
3 Vangpui thungah taham na hoih o ueloe, lawk ah doeh taham na hoih o tih.
You will be blessed when you're in the town; you will be blessed when you're in the countryside.
4 To tahamhoihaih loe na zok hoiah athaih tacawthaih hoi na lawk ah thingthai kapop ah athaihaih hae ni, maitaw caanawk pung o ueloe, tuu khongkha thung ih tuu caanawk doeh pung o tih.
You will be blessed with many children. You will be blessed with good harvests. You will be blessed with livestock—your cattle will have many calves, and your sheep will have many lambs.
5 Benthang hoi hmuen na suek o haih ahmuen doeh tahamhoih o tih.
You will be blessed with plenty of bread.
6 A thungah na kun o moe, tasa bangah na caeh o naah doeh taham na hoih o tih.
You will be blessed wherever you go and in everything you do.
7 Angraeng mah nang tuk han kangthawk na misanawk to na hmaa ah tuh tih; nihcae loe nang tuk hanah loklam maeto hoiah angzo o tih, toe nihcae loe na hmaa hoiah loklam sarihto ampraek o ueloe, cawn o tih.
The Lord will defeat the enemies who come to attack you. They will come at you from one direction, but they will scatter seven different ways.
8 Hmuenmae na suek o haih ahmuen, na ban hoi sak ih hmuenawk boih nuiah Angraeng mah tahamhoihaih na paek o tih; na Angraeng Sithaw mah paek ih prae thungah tahamhoihaih na paek o tih.
The Lord will bless your income and everything you do. The Lord your God will bless you in the country he is giving you.
9 Na Angraeng Sithaw ih lok na tahngaih o moe, a loklam ah na caeh o nahaeloe, Angraeng mah nangcae khaeah lokkam ih baktih toengah, angmah ih ciimcai kami ah na suem tih.
The Lord will make you his holy people, just as he promised you, if you obey the Lord your God's commandments and follow his ways.
10 To naah nangcae loe Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah kawk ih kami ni, tiah long pum ih kaminawk boih mah hnu o tih; to naah nihcae mah nangcae to zii tih.
Then everyone on earth will see that the Lord has chosen you to be his, and they will be afraid of you.
11 Angraeng mah nang ang paek hanah, nam panawk khaeah sak ih lokkamhaih prae ah loe, na zok thung hoiah thingthai to athai tih, lawk ah thingthai qumpo pop parai ah tacawt ueloe, maitaw caanawk to pungsak tih.
The Lord will make you very prosperous. You will have many children, your livestock will produce plenty of young, and your land will grow good harvests—all this in the country the Lord promised your forefathers he would give you.
12 Na Angraeng Sithaw mah atue phak naah kho angzohsak moe, na ban hoi sak ih hmuennawk boih tahamhoihaih paek hanah, angmah ih hmuen suekhaih ahmuen ah kaom, van thok to paong ueloe, kho angzosak tih; nangcae loe minawk khaeah na coi o mak ai, toe nangcae mah ni pop parai kaminawk coisak hanah na paek o tih.
The Lord will provide rain for your land at the right time from his heavenly storehouse to bless all your work growing crops. You will lend money to many nations but you won't need to borrow from any of them.
13 Angraeng mah tamaai ah na omsak mak ai, lu ah ni na suem tih; vaihniah kang paek ih, na Angraeng Sithaw ih loknawk to pazui moe, sak hanah lok na tahngaih o nahaeloe, atlim ah na om o mak ai, ranuiah khue ni na om o tih;
The Lord will put you in first place, not the last. You will only go up, never down, as long as you listen to and follow carefully the commandments of the Lord your God that I'm giving you today.
14 vaihniah kang paek o ih lok hae banqoi bantang nam khraeng o taak ai, kalah sithawnawk hnukah doeh na bang o ai moe, a tok doeh na sah pae o ai nahaeloe, to baktih tahamhoihaih to na hnu o tih.
Don't deviate from any of my instructions today. Don't go and worship other gods.
15 Toe na Angraeng Sithaw ih lok to na tahngai o ai; vaihniah kang paek o ih a loknawk hoi anih ih kaaloknawk to na pazui o ai, sak hanah lok doeh na tahngai o ai nahaeloe, hae tangoenghaih loknawk hae nangcae nuiah krah tih.
But if you don't obey the Lord your God by following carefully all his commandments and regulations I'm giving you today, then you will experience all the following curses and more:
16 Vangpui ah tangoenghaih na tong o ueloe, lawk ah doeh tangoenghaih na tong o tih.
You will be cursed when you're in the town; you will be cursed when you're in the countryside.
17 Nangmah ih benthang hoi hmuen suekhaih ahmuen ah doeh, tangoenghaih to om tih.
You will be cursed by not having bread.
18 Na zok thung ih thingthai, na lawk ih thingthai qumpo, maitaw caanawk hoi na tuu khongkha thung ih tuu caanawk mah doeh tangoenghaih to zok o tih.
You will be cursed by not having children, and by not having good harvests, and by your cattle not having calves, and your sheep not having lambs.
19 A thungah na caeh o naah tangoenghaih na tong o ueloe, na tacawt o naah doeh tangoenghaih na tong o tih.
You will be cursed wherever you go and in everything you do.
20 Angraeng na pahnawt o sut moe, na sak o ih sethaih pongah karangah amrohaih pha ai karoek to tangoenghaih hoi dawnraihaih to omsak ueloe, na ban hoi sak ih hmuennawk boih pongah thuitaekhaih to omsak tih.
The Lord will send you curses, making you confused and frustrated in everything you do, until you are brought down and die quickly because of the evil that you've done by abandoning him.
21 Toep han na caeh ih prae thung hoiah amrosak boih ai karoek to, Angraeng mah na nuiah nathaih to phasak tih.
The Lord will give you infectious diseases until he has wiped you out from the country you are entering town.
22 Angraeng mah nangcae to angoihaih maw, ngannathaih maw, nganbawkhaih maw, nganbet paraihaih maw, takpum zaek kaenghaih maw, ngan duek suthaih maw, sumsen hoiah maw na thuitaek o ueloe, nam ro o boih ai karoek to, to baktih nathaih mah na patom o tih.
Then Lord will hit you with sickness that makes you waste away, with a severe fever and swelling like you're burning up, while your crops are damaged by drought and blight and mildew. These will attack you until you die.
23 Nangcae ranui ih van to sum kamling ah om ueloe, nangcae tlim ih long loe sum ah angcoeng tih.
The sky above you will be like bronze, and the earth beneath you will be like iron.
24 Angraeng mah na prae thungah angzo khotui to vaiphu hoi maiphu ah angcoengsak tih, nam ro o boih ai karoek to van hoiah nang khaeah krah tathuk tih.
The Lord will change the rain of your land into dust and sand; it will fall from the sky on you until you're destroyed.
25 Angraeng mah nang to na misanawk hmaa ah amtimsak tih; nihcae tuk hanah loklam maeto hoiah na caeh; toe loklam sarihto hoiah nihcae hmaa ah na cawn ueloe, long pum ah panuet thok kami ah na om o tih.
The Lord will have your enemies defeat you. You will attack them from one direction, but you will scatter seven different ways. Everyone on earth will be horrified at what happens to you.
26 Na qok loe van ih tavaanawk hoi long ah kaom moisannawk ih buh ah om tih, mi mah doeh to van ih tavaa hoi moisannawk to hui mak ai.
Your dead bodies will be food for birds of prey and wild animals, and there won't be anyone to scare them away.
27 Angraeng mah Izip prae ih ahlut, ngan tangdawh nathaih, phra, kahoih thai ai ngan kamthak hoiah na thuitaek o tih.
The Lord will give you boils like he did to the Egyptians, with swellings and scabs and skin rashes that can't be cured.
28 Angraeng mah amthuhaih, mikmaenghaih hoi poek anghmang suthaih hoiah na thuitaek tih;
The Lord will send you mad and make you blind and confused,
29 mikmaeng mah khoving ah pathoep baktih toengah, khodai ah hmuen to na pathoep o tih; na caehhaih lam kruekah hmacawn mak ai; kaminawk mah na pacaekthlaek o ueloe, hmuennawk to na lomh pae o tih; mi mah doeh na pahlong o mak ai.
so that even at noon you will be groping around like a blind man in the dark. You won't be successful in what you do. You'll be persecuted and robbed the whole time, and no one will come and save you.
30 Zu na la o tih; toe minawk kalah mah na zu to iip o haih tih; im na sah o tih; toe na om haih mak ai; misur takha na sah o tih; toe athaih na pakhrik o mak ai.
You will be engaged to marry a woman, but another man will sleep with her. You will build a house but you won't live in it. You will plant a vineyard but won't benefit from any harvest.
31 Nangmah ih maitaw to na mikhnuk ah bop o tih; toe a moi to na caa o mak ai; na mikhnukah nang ih laa hrang to thaa hoi la o tih; toe na paek o let mak ai; na misanawk hanah nang ih tuu to paek o naah, pahlongkung mi doeh om mak ai.
Your ox will be slaughtered right in front of you, but you won't eat any of it. Your donkey will be taken away and won't be returned to you. Your sheep will be taken by your enemies, and no one will come and save you.
32 Minawk mah na capa hoi na canunawk to la o ving tih; nihcae na khet loiah na mik to khah sut ueloe, na ban doeh thazok sut tih.
Your sons and daughters will be taken away as slaves to other nations while you watch, and you'll wear your eyes out crying over them, but there won't be anything you can do about it.
33 Na prae thung ih thingthai qumpo, toksak hoiah na hnuk ih hmuennawk to na panoek ai ih kaminawk mah caa o king tih; na hing thung kami mah pacaekthlaekhaih na tong o tih;
A foreign nation you've never heard of will eat all the crops you worked so hard to grow. You will be continually persecuted and downtrodden.
34 na mik hoi hnuk ih hmuen mah nang to amthusak tih.
What you see will drive you mad.
35 Angraeng mah khokkhu hoi khoknawk khue ai ah, na khokpadae hoi lu khoek to kahoih thai ai ahlut hoiah koisak tih.
The Lord will give you painful boils that can't be cured on your knees and thighs, in fact from head to toe.

The Lord will exile you and your chosen king you to a foreign nation that neither you nor your forefathers had ever heard of. There you will worship other gods, idols made of wood and stone.
37 Nangcae loe Angraeng mah haek han ih prae kalah kaminawk salakah dawnraihaih, patahhaih hoi pahnui thuih hanah ni na om o tih boeh.
You will be something that horrifies all the nations where you've been exiled by the Lord. They will laugh at you and ridicule you.
38 Na lawk thungah cangti pop parai ah na tuh o tih; toe pakhunawk mah caak boih pongah, zetta khue ni na aat o tih.
You will sow a lot of seed in the field, but harvest very little because the locusts will destroy it.
39 Misur takha na sah o ueloe, akung doeh na tling o tih; toe langkawk mah caak pongah, misurtui doeh na nae o mak ai ueloe, athaih doeh na caa o mak ai.
You will plant and vineyards and care for them, but you won't harvest the grapes or drink the wine, because they'll be eaten by maggots.
40 Na prae thung boih ah olive thing na tawn o tih; toe athaih angmuen king pongah, olive situi to nang nok o mak ai.
You will have olive trees all over the country but you won't have any olive oil to use, because the olives will drop early from the trees.
41 Canu hoi capanawk doeh na tawn o tih; toe nihcae loe misong ah angtang o pongah, nihcae hoi nawnto kanawm ah na om o mak ai.
You will have sons and daughters, but you won't have them for long, because they will be taken off into captivity as slaves.
42 Na prae thungah kaom thingnawk hoi thingthai qumponawk to pakhuh mah caa boih tih.
Locust swarms will destroy all your trees and crops.
43 Nangcae thungah kaom angvin loe nangcae ranuiah daw tahang tih, nangcae loe atlim ah nang hum o tathuk tih.
Foreigners who live with you will rise higher and higher in status above you, while you sink lower and lower.
44 Hmuen coi hanah anih mah na paek tih, toe nang loe anih coisak hanah hmuen na paek thai mak ai; anih loe lu ah om ueloe, nang loe tamai ah na om tih.
They will lend to you, but you will not lend to them. They will be the first, and you will be the last.
45 Na Angraeng Sithaw ih loknawk, anih mah thuih ih loknawk hoi anih ih kaaloknawk pazui hanah lok na tahngai o ai pongah, nam ro boih ai karoek to, hae tangoenghaih hae na nuiah pha boih tih, nang to na patom o ueloe, na kae o tih.
All these curses will come down on you. They will chase after you and attack you until you die because you did not obey the Lord your God and keep the commandments and regulations he gave you.
46 To hmuennawk loe nangmah hoi na caanawk nuiah, dungzan angmathaih hoi dawnrai hmuen ah om tih.
They will be lasting evidence, visible signs of what happened to you and your descendants.
47 angraeng nathuem ah, anghoehaih hoiah na Angraeng Sithaw ih tok to na sah ai pongah,
Because you did not serve the Lord your God with happiness and with a joyful attitude,
48 Angraeng mah patoeh ih na misanawk ih tok to, zok amthlamhaih, tui anghaehhaih, bangkrai ah ohhaih, amtang amlaihaih hoiah na sah tih; nam ro ai karoek to tahnong ah sum hoiah thlong na thuk pae tih.
you will serve your enemies that the Lord sends to attack you with hunger, thirst, nakedness, and poverty. He will tie an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.
49 Nangcae tuksak hanah Angraeng mah tahmu baktih angtawt karang, a lok na thaih ai ih angthla parai, long boenghaih ahmuen ah kaom,
The Lord will bring a nation to attack you from a long way off, from the ends of the earth. They will swoop down upon you like an eagle, this nation whose language you won't understand.
50 mikhmai pan thai ai, mitong doeh nawkta doeh tahmenhaih tawn ai kalah prae kami to kawk ueloe,
They are a ruthless nation who don't respect for the old and have no mercy on the young.

They will eat your lambs and calves and the crops you've grown until you are destroyed. They won't leave you any grain or new wine or olive oil, no calves from your herds or lambs from your flocks, so you'll die of starvation.
52 Na prae thungah na oep ih nangmah ih vangpui sipae amtim rup ai karoek to, na prae thung ih vangpuinawk to takui o boih tih; na Angraeng Sithaw mah ang paek o ih, prae thung ih vangpuinawk to takui o boih tih.
They will besiege all the towns in your country, until the high, fortified walls that you trust in have fallen. They will besiege all your towns in your country that the Lord your God has given you.
53 Misa mah na takui khoep ueloe, poek patang loiah na Angraeng Sithaw mah ang paek ih na zok thung ih na canu hoi na capanawk mataeng doeh na caa tih.
You'll end up eating your children, the flesh of the sons and daughters the Lord your God gave you, because of the siege and the suffering that your enemy will cause you.
54 Nangcae thung ih palungsawk koek kami hoi poek naem koek kami mah mataeng doeh angmah ih nawkamya, a palung ih a zu hoi kahing a caanawk nuiah tahmenhaih tawn mak ai;
The kindest and most sensitive man among you will refuse to share his food with his brother, the wife he loves, and those of his own children who are left.
55 a caak ih ngan to a caak hanah, to kaom kami maeto han mataeng doeh paek mak ai; na misanawk mah vangpui takui o nathung tidoeh tawn ai ah khosak nathung, to tiah na misanawk mah poekhaih amtangsak tih.
He will refuse to share with any of them the flesh of his children that he's forced to eat because he doesn't have anything else because of the siege and suffering your enemy has caused you in all your towns.
56 Palungsawk moe, poek naem pongah, long cawh vai ai nongpata doeh caak han tawn ai pongah, a palung ih sava, a capa hoi a canu nuiah poeksethaih palungthin to tawn tih,
The kindest and most sensitive woman among you, so kind and sensitive she wouldn't ever go barefoot on the ground, will refuse to share her food, a baby and its afterbirth, with the husband she loves and her own son and daughter.
57 a khok hnetto salak hoiah tacawt a caa nawkta, a zok thung hoi tapen a caanawk nuiah poeksethaih palungthin to tawn tih; misa mah vangpuinawk to takui khoep moe, poekhaih patangsak pongah, tamquta hoiah a caanawk to caa tih.
She will even secretly eat her the babies she gives birth to and the afterbirth, since she doesn't have anything else because of the siege and suffering your enemy has caused you in all your towns,
58 Lensawk moe, zit kathok ahmin, na Angraeng Sithaw to zit hanah, hae cabu thungah tarik ih kaaloknawk hae acoehaih hoiah na pazui boih ai nahaeloe,
If you don't carefully observe all these laws written down in this book so that you may show respect for this glorious and awesome Lord your God,
59 na Angraeng Sithaw mah na caanawk nuiah na tongh han koi dawnrai koi hmuen ah kaom raihaih, kalen parai raihaih, atue kasawk parai raihaih, kahoih thai ai kanung parai nathaih to patoeh tih.
he will bring down on you and your descendants unbelievable disasters, intense and long-lasting diseases, and terrible and incurable sicknesses.
60 Na zit ih Izip prae nathaihnawk to, na nuiah phasak boih tih, nang khaeah akapsak caeng tih.
He will give you all the diseases you were terrified of in Egypt, and they will stay with you.
61 Angraeng mah nam ro ai karoek to, hae kaalok cabu thungah tarik ai ih nathaih hoi raihaihnawk to na nuiah phasak tih.
The Lord will also give you every sickness and disease, even those not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed.
62 Nang loe van ih cakaeh zetto na pop cadoeh, na Angraeng Sithaw ih lok to na tahngai ai pongah, zetta ah ni na om sut tih.
You who grew as numerous as the stars in the sky will end up as only a few, because you would not obey what Lord your God told you.
63 Nang khosak na hoih moe, nang pung tahang naah, Angraeng anghoe baktih toengah, Angraeng loe nang to amrosak moe, tidoeh tawn ai ah ohsak hanah doeh anghoe; qawktoep han na caehhaih prae thung hoiah anih mah nang to amrosak tih.
In the same way as he wanted to make you prosperous and increase in number, so now he will wipe you out and destroy you. You will be uprooted from the country you are going in to own.
64 To pacoengah Angraeng mah, long boenghaih maeto bang hoi kalah maeto bang khoek to, kaminawk salakah na haek o boih tih; to ahmuen ah nangmah hoi nam panawk mah panoek o vai ai ih, thing hoi sak moe, thlung hoiah sak ih kalah sithawnawk to na bok o tih.
The Lord will scatter you among the nations all over the earth, and there you will worship other gods, gods made of wood and stone, which you and your fathers had never heard of.
65 Nang loe to prae kaminawk salakah anghakhaih na hnu mak ai; na khokpadae suekhaih kakhawt anghakhaih ahmuen mataeng doeh na tawn mak ai; toe Angraeng mah to ahmuen ah tasoehhaih palungthin, mik thazokhaih hoi palungsethaih to na paek tih.
You won't find any place to rest among those nations, no place of your own. The Lord will make you anxious, with failing eyesight and a mind full of despair.
66 Oephaih om ai ah kho na sah ueloe, khoving khodai zithaih hoiah na om tih; oephaih kaom hinghaih to na tawn mak ai.
You will see your life hanging in the balance as you doubt. You will be afraid day and night, terrified you won't survive.
67 Zithaih palungthin, mik hoi hnuk ih hmuen mah zithaih to paek pongah, khawnthaw ah niduem lai nasoe, tiah na thui ueloe, duembang ah khodai lai nasoe, tiah na thui tih.
In the morning you'll say, “I wish it was evening!” and in the evening you'll say, “I wish it was morning!” because you're so frightened by the terrifying things you see.
68 Hae loklam na hnu let mak ai boeh, tiah kang thuih ih loklam hoiah, Angraeng mah nang to, Izip prae ah palong pui hoiah na thak let tih, to prae ah misong nongpa hoi misong nongpata ah oh hanah, nangcae to misanawk khaeah na zaw tih; toe mi mah doeh nangcae to qan mak ai.
The Lord will send you back to Egypt in ships to a place that I said you weren't ever meant to see again. You will put yourselves on sale there to your enemies as male and female slaves, but nobody will want to buy you.
