< Deuteronomy 25 >

1 Kami hnik loe lok angaek hoi moe, lokcaekkung mah nihnik to lokcaek naah, katoeng kami to loihsak ah loe, kasae kami to danpaek ah,
If there be a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.
2 kasae kami to boh han krah nahaeloe, lokcaekkung mah anih to a hmaa ah anghnusak ueloe, a zaehaih kating ah bop tih.
And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.
3 Toe qui palito pong kamthlai ah boh han om ai; kamthlai ah bop nahaeloe, nam nawkamya loe nangcae mikhnuk ah zae kami ah om tih.
Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then your brother should seem vile to you.
4 Cang atit naah maitaw to tahmawh moem pae caeng hmah.
You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the corn.
5 Nawkamya thung ih kami maeto loe caa sah ai ah dueh ving nahaeloe, anih ih zu loe kalah kami khaeah sava sak han om ai; a sava ih amnawk mah anih to zu haih ueloe, a zu khaeah amya mah sak han koi hmuen to koepsak tih.
If brothers dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without to a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in to her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband’s brother to her.
6 Israel thung hoiah anghmat han ai ah, a sak hmaloe ih capa nongpa loe kadueh amya ih ahmin to palawk han oh.
And it shall be, that the firstborn which she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.
7 Toe amya ih zu to zu haih han koeh ai nahaeloe, amya ih zu mah vangpui thung ih kacoehtanawk khaeah caeh ueloe, Ka sava ih amnawk loe Israel kaminawk salakah amya ih ahmin ohsak poe han koeh ai; ka nuiah amya ih toksak han koeh ai, tiah thui tih.
And if the man like not to take his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.
8 To naah vangpui thung ih kacoehtanawk mah anih to kawk o ueloe, anih khaeah lokthui pae o tih; toe to kami mah, Kam ya ih zu lak han ka koeh ai, tiah thui khruek nahaeloe,
Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;
9 amya ih zu loe kacoehtanawk hmaa ah anih khaeah caeh ueloe, a khokpanai to khring pae tih, a mikhmai ah tamtui hoi pathoih ueloe, amya ih imthong sak han koeh ai kami loe, hae tiah sak han oh, tiah anih han thui pae tih.
Then shall his brother’s wife come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done to that man that will not build up his brother’s house.
10 To kami loe khokpanai khring pae ih acaeng, tiah Israel kaminawk salakah thui o tih.
And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that has his shoe loosed.
11 Nongpa hnetto angpan hoi naah, nongpa maeto ih zu loe bop kami ban thung hoiah a sava loihsak hanah angzoh moe, a sava kabop nongpa ih tangzat to patawn pae caeng nahaeloe,
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smites him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by the secrets:
12 to nongpata ih ban to takroek pae pat han oh; anih to tahmen hmah.
Then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall not pity her.
13 Kangvan ai hmuen zit tahhaih kalen doeh, kathoeng doeh, pasah thungah nawnto pacaeng hmah.
You shall not have in your bag divers weights, a great and a small.
14 Hmuen tahhaih kalen maw, kathoeng maw, hnetto na im ah suem hmaek hmah.
You shall not have in your house divers measures, a great and a small.
15 Na Angraeng Sithaw mah ang paek ih prae thungah na hing lung sawk thai hanah, kakoep moe, katoeng hmuen zit tahhaih to patoh ah.
But you shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shall you have: that your days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
16 To tiah amsoem ai hmuen sah kami hoi katoeng ai ah toksah kami loe, na Angraeng Sithaw hmaa ah panuet thoh.
For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD your God.
17 Izip prae hoi nang zoh o naah, loklam ah Amalek kaminawk mah na nuiah sak o ih hmuennawk to pahnet o hmah,
Remember what Amalek did to you by the way, when you were come forth out of Egypt;
18 nangcae tha na zok o sut moe, patang na khang o, Amalek kaminawk loe Sithaw zithaih tawn o ai pongah, loklam ah nangcae to angang moe, nangcae hnukbang kaminawk hoi thacak ai kaminawk to hum o.
How he met you by the way, and smote the hindmost of you, even all that were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he feared not God.
19 Na Angraeng Sithaw mah nangcae khaeah qawk ah paek ih, prae taengah kaom na misanawk boih ban thung hoiah pahlong moe, anghakhaih ang paek o naah, pahnet ving hanah, Amalek kaminawk to van tlim hoiah amrosak boih han oh; na pahnet han om ai.
Therefore it shall be, when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget it.
