1 Na Angraeng Sithaw mah qawk ah toep han nangcae khae paek ih prae thung ih ahmuen maeto ah angsong sut kami qok to oh, toe anih loe mi mah maw hum, tito panoek o ai nahaeloe,
If a man is found slain in the land which Jehovah thy God gives thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it not be known who has smitten him,
2 kacoehtanawk hoi lokcaekkungnawk to caeh o ueloe, qok ohhaih ahmuen hoiah kazoi koek vangpuinawk loe nasetto maw angthla, tito tah oh.
then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth. And they shall measure to the cities which are round about him who is slain,
3 To pacoengah qok hoi anghnai koek vangpui ih kacoehtanawk mah, toksah vai ai laikok atokhaih thing ruet vai ai maitaw tala to la o ueloe,
and it shall be, that the city which is nearest to the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer of the herd, which has not been worked with, and which has not drawn in the yoke,
4 lawk sak han vat vai ai, aanmu doeh patii vai ai azawn ah maitaw tala to caeh haih pacoengah, to ahmuen ah maitaw tala ih tahnong to aat o tih;
and the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and shall break the heifer's neck there in the valley.
5 na Angraeng Sithaw ih tok kasah, Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah tahamhoihaih paek hanah qoih ih, Levi acaeng qaimanawk angzo o ueloe, lokpunghaih hoi humhaih nuiah lok to takroek o tih:
And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near, for Jehovah thy God has chosen them to minister to him, and to bless in the name of Jehovah, and according to their word shall every controversy and every stroke be.
6 qok ohhaih ahmuen hoi anghnai koek vangpui thung ih kacoehtanawk loe, to azawn ih vacong ah tahnong aah o ih maitaw tala nuiah ban to amsae o tih,
And all the elders of that city, who are nearest to the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley,
7 hae athii loe kaicae ih ban hoiah long ai; mik hoiah doeh ka hnu o ai.
and they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
8 Aw Angraeng, na krang ih Israel kaminawk hae tahmen ah; zaehaih tawn ai kami ih athii tho lu lakhaih loe nangmah ih Israel kaminawk nuiah krahsak hmah, tiah thui o tih. To tiah sah nahaeloe kami athii palonghaih to tahmen tih.
Forgive, O Jehovah, thy people Israel whom thou have redeemed, and allow no innocent blood to remain in the midst of thy people Israel. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
9 Angraeng mikhnuk ah kamsoem hmuen to na sak o pongah, zaehaih tawn ai kami ih athii palonghaih hoiah na ciim o tih.
So shall thou put away the innocent blood from the midst of thee when thou shall do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah.
10 Misatuk han na caeh naah, na Angraeng mah nangcae ban ah misanawk to ang paek, nihcae to tamna ah na naeh,
When thou go forth to battle against thine enemies, and Jehovah thy God delivers them into thy hands, and thou carry them away captive,
11 misong ah na naeh ih nongpatanawk thungah kranghoih parai nongpata maeto oh, anih to na khit parai nahaeloe, zu ah na lak thaih;
and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and thou have a desire for her, and would take her to thee to wife,
12 to nongpata to na im ah caeh haih ah loe a sam to aat paeh, a banpacinnawk doeh aat paeh loe,
then thou shall bring her home to thy house. And she shall shave her head, and pare her nails,
13 misong ah na naeh nathuem ih khukbuennawk to khring pae boih ah, na im ah omsak ah loe, khrahto thung amno hoi ampa dawnhaih palungsae dip pacoengah, a taengah caeh ah; nang loe anih ih sava ah om ah, anih doeh na zu ah om tih.
and she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thy house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month. And after that thou shall go in to her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
14 To pacoengah anih to na koeh ai nahaeloe, angmah koeh ah caehsak ah; toe anih to azat na paek boeh pongah, phoisa hoi zaw hmah loe, misong baktiah doeh suem hmah.
And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shall let her go where she will, but thou shall not sell her at all for money. Thou shall not deal with her harshly, because thou have humbled her.
15 Kami maeto mah zu hnetto tawnh; zu maeto loe palung moe, kalah maeto loe a hnukma; a palung ih zu doeh a hnukma ih zu doeh caa sak hoi hmaek; a hnukma ih zu mah anih hanah capa to sah pae hmaloe nahaeloe,
If a man has two wives, the one beloved, and the other regarded inferior, and they have borne him sons, both the beloved and the one regarded inferior, and if the firstborn son be hers who was regarded inferior,
16 to kami mah a tawnh ih qawk to a caa hnik khaeah pazet naah, a hnukma ih zu mah sak pae ih calu han paek koi qawk to, a palung kue ih zu mah sak pae ih capa hanah paek lat mak ai;
then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not make the son of the beloved the firstborn before the son of the one regarded inferior, who is the firstborn.
17 a hnukma ih zu mah sak ih capa loe calu ni, tiah panoek moe, a tawnh ih hmuennawk boih thung hoiah anih to alet hnetto paek han oh; to capa loe ampa thacak tangsuekhaih ah oh pongah, calu angdoethaih ahmuen loe anih ih qawk ah oh.
But he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the one regarded inferior, by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of his strength. The right of the firstborn is his.
18 Kami maeto loe amno hoi ampa lok tahngai ai, lokaek thaih capa maeto tawnh; amno hoi ampa mah a capa thuitaek naah, lok tahngai ai nahaeloe,
If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and, though they chasten him, will not hearken to them,
19 amno hoi ampa mah anih to naeh ueloe, kacoehtanawk ohhaih vangpui thungah caeh hoi haih tih;
then his father and his mother shall lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place.
20 vangpui thungah kaom kacoehtanawk khaeah, Hae ka capa loe palungthah parai moe, lok tahngai ai; ka thuih hoi ih lok doeh tahngai ai; anih loe caak amoeh moe, mu paquih thaih kami ah oh, tiah thui pae hoi tih.
And they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice. He is a glutton, and a drunkard.
21 To naah to vangpui thungah kaom kaminawk boih mah anih to duek khoek to thlung hoiah va o tih; to tiah kasae hmuen to nangcae salak hoiah takhoe oh; to tiah ni Israel kaminawk boih mah thaih o naah, zii o tih.
And all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones. So thou shall put away the evil from the midst of thee, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
22 Kami maeto loe duek han krah zaehaih to a sak, anih loe hum han oh boeh pongah, thing nuiah bang hoiah hum nahaeloe,
And if a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree,
23 kadueh qok to aqum puek thing nuiah suek han om ai, duekhaih niah aphum roep han oh; (mi kawbaktih doeh thing pongah angbang kami loe, Sithaw tangoenghaih tongh kami ah oh); na Angraeng Sithaw mah qawk ah paek ih prae to, nam hnong o sak han ai ah to tiah sak han oh.
his body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shall surely bury him the same day, for he who is hanged is accursed of God, that thou not defile thy land which Jehovah thy God gives thee for an inheritance.
