< Deuteronomy 2 >

1 To pacoengah Angraeng mah kai khaeah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, aicae loe amlaem o moe, tuipui kathim bang caehhaih loklam hoiah, praezaek ah a caeh o; aicae loe Seir mae taengah saning kasawk ah amhet o boeh.
Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.
2 To naah Angraeng mah kai khaeah,
And the LORD spake unto me, saying,
3 Nangcae loe hae mae taengah saning kasawk ah nam het o boeh; vaihi angqoi oh loe, aluek bangah caeh oh.
Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
4 Kaminawk khaeah, Seir mae ah, nangmacae ih nawkamya ah kaom, Esau ih caanawk ohhaih ahmuen hoiah na caeh o tih boeh; nihcae mah nangcae to zii o tih; toe acoehaih hoiah om oh;
And command thou the people, saying, Ye [are] to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:
5 nihcae to misa angthawk o thuih hmah; nihcae ih prae to nangcae han kang paek mak ai; na khok cawhhaih kakhawt ahmuen mataeng doeh kang paek o mak ai; Seir mae loe qawk ah toep hanah Esau khaeah ka paek boeh.
Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau [for] a possession.
6 Caak hanah buh to nihcae khaeah phoisa hoiah ni na qan o ueloe, na caa o tih, tui doeh na qanh o pacoengah ni, na nae o tih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.
7 Na Angraeng Sithaw mah na ban toksakhaih nuiah tahamhoihaih ang paek o boeh; kakawk parai hae praezaek ah nam het o, tito anih mah panoek; saning quipalito thung nangcae khaeah na Angraeng Sithaw to oh pongah, angaihaih tidoeh na tawn o ai.
For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God [hath been] with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 To pongah Seir mae ah kaom, aimacae nawkamya ah kaom Esau ih caanawk ohhaih ahmuen to a phak o, Elath hoi Ezion-Geber vangpui hoiah azawn ah caehhaih loklam ah a caeh o pacoengah, Moab praezaek caehhaih loklam hoiah a caeh o poe.
And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 To pacoengah Angraeng mah kai khaeah, Moab kaminawk to tavet o hmah; misatuk hanah palungphui o thui hmah; qawktoep hanah nihcae ih prae to kang paek o ai; Ar prae toep hanah, Lot khaeah ka paek boeh, tiah ang naa.
And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land [for] a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot [for] a possession.
10 Canghnii ah Anak kaminawk baktiah kalen, kapop parai Emim kaminawk, to ahmuen ah khosak o;
The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
11 nihcae loe Anak kaminawk baktiah, len o parai; Moab kaminawk mah loe nihcae to Emim, tiah kawk o.
Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.
12 Canghnii ah Horim kaminawk doeh Seir mae ah oh o toeng; toe Angraeng mah paek ih prae to qawk ah toep hanah, Israel kaminawk mah sak o ih baktih toengah, Esau ih caanawk mah doeh to kaminawk to haek o moe, nihcae ohhaih ahmuen ah khosak o.
The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.
13 Angraeng mah, Vaihi angthawk oh loe, Zered vacong ah caeh oh, tiah thuih. To pongah aicae loe Zered vacong hoiah a caeh o.
Now rise up, [said I], and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.
14 Kadesh-Barnea ahmuen hoiah a tacawt o moe, Zered vacong phak karoek to, saning qui thum, tazetto akra. Angraeng mah nihcae khaeah lokkam ih baktih toengah, canghnii hoiah misatuh kaminawk loe, kaminawk ataihaih thung hoiah anghmat o boih.
And the space in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, [was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.
15 To kaminawk anghmaa boih ai karoek to, kaminawk salak hoiah nihcae to tamit boih hanah, Angraeng mah nihcae to ban phok thuih.
For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.
16 Kaminawk thung hoiah misatuh kaminawk to paduek moe, tamit boih pacoengah,
So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
17 Angraeng mah kai khaeah,
That the LORD spake unto me, saying,
18 vaihniah Moab prae thung ih Ar ahmuen hoiah caeh oh,
Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:
19 Ammon kaminawk khaeah na phak o naah, nihcae to pahrue o hmah, raihaih doeh paek o hmah; Ammon kaminawk ih prae to nangcae han kang paek mak ai; to prae loe qawk ah toep o hanah Lot ih caanawk hanah ka paek boeh, tiah ang naa.
And [when] thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon [any] possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot [for] a possession.
20 To prae loe canghnii hoi haeah kaom, kalen parai kaminawk ih prae ah oh; toe Ammon kaminawk mah nihcae to Zamzummims, tiah kawk o.
(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;
21 To kaminawk loe Anak kaminawk baktiah, len o parai, sang o moe, pop o parai; toe Angraeng mah nihcae to Ammon kaminawk hma ah anghmatsak boih; to pongah nihcae ohhaih ahmuen ah Esau caanawk khosak o.
A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
22 Nihcae Seir ah oh o naah, Angraeng mah Esau ih caanawk hanah to tiah sak pae; nihcae hmaa ah Horim kaminawk to tamit pae boih; nihcae to haek boih pacoengah, nihcae ohhaih ahmuen to Esau ih caanawk mah vaihni ni khoek to khosak o haih.
As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
23 To baktih toengah, Hazerim hoi Azzah avang khoek to kaom, Avim kaminawk loe, Kaphtor vangpui hoiah tacawt o moe, Kaphtor kaminawk tamit boih pacoengah, nihcae ohhaih ahmuen ah khosak o.
And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, [even] unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 Vaihi angthawk oh loe, Armon vapui hoiah caeh o poe ah; khenah, Amor acaeng, Heshbon siangpahrang Sihon hoi a prae loe na ban ah kang paek boeh; to pongah to ahmuen to toep oh loe, to siangpahrang to tuh oh.
Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess [it], and contend with him in battle.
25 Vaihniah van tlim ih kaom prae kaminawk boih mah, nangcae to zit moe, ka tasoehsak han; nihcae mah nangcae kawng thaih o naah, mawn o ueloe, paroeai tasoeh o tih, tiah ang naa.
This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations [that are] under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
26 Kedemoth praezaek hoi Heshbon siangpahrang Sihon khaeah, laicaeh ka patoeh moe, angdaehhaih lok ka thuih pacoengah,
And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 na prae thung hoiah na caehsak raeh, loklam ah ni ka caeh o poe han; banqoi bantang kang qoi o mak ai.
Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.
28 Buh hoi tui to kai khaeah na zaw ah, phoisa hoiah ka qanh o pacoengah ni ka caak o moe, ka naek o han; khok hoiah ni ka caeh o han;
Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;
29 Angraeng mah paek ih prae to ka phak o thai hanah, Jordan vapui kang kaat o ai karoek to, Seir ah kaom kaminawk, Esau ih caanawk, Ar ah kaom kaminawk hoi Moab kaminawk mah ang caeh o sak baktih toengah, na caehsak raeh, tiah ka naa.
(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me; ) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.
30 Toe Heshbon siangpahrang Sihon mah caehsak han koeh ai; vaihniah amtueng baktih toengah, nangcae ih Angraeng Sithaw mah Sihon siangpahrang to nangcae ban ah paek han koeh pongah, a poekhaih palungthin to amtaksak moe, palung thahsak.
But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as [appeareth] this day.
31 Angraeng mah kai khaeah, Khenah, Sihon hoi a prae to nangcae ban ah kang paek amtong boeh; to prae to toep hanah, la amtong o lai ah, tiah ang naa.
And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.
32 Sihon mah aicae tuk hanah, angmah ih misatuh kaminawk boih hoi nawnto, Jahaz vangpui ah angzoh o.
Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
33 Aicae Angraeng Sithaw mah anih to aicae ban ah paek pongah, anih to a hum o, a capanawk hoi a misatuh kaminawk doeh a hum pae o boih.
And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 To naah anih ih vangpuinawk to a lak pae o, nongpa, nongpata, nawktanawk hoi a praenawk to maeto doeh anghmat ai ah a paro pae o boih;
And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
35 toe maitawnawk hoi vangpui thung ih hmuenmaenawk khue ni aimacae hanah a lak o.
Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36 Arnon vapui taengah kaom Aroer vangpui, vapui taengah kaom vangpuinawk hoi Gilead vangpui khoek to, a pazawk o thai ai ih vangpui maeto doeh om ai; aicae Angraeng Sithaw mah hmuennawk to aicae ban ah paek boih boeh;
From Aroer, which [is] by the brink of the river of Arnon, and [from] the city that [is] by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:
37 toe aicae Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Ammon kaminawk ih prae, Jabbok vapui taengah kaom prae loe tetta doeh a la pae o ai.
Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, [nor] unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.
