1 Nangcae loe na Angraeng Sithaw ih caa ah na oh o; kadueh kami hanah, ngan to aat hmah loe, na mik salak ih hma sam doeh aat hmah.
You are sons of the LORD your God; do not cut yourselves or shave your foreheads on behalf of the dead,
2 Nangcae loe na Angraeng Sithaw han ciimcai kami ah na oh o; long kaminawk boih thungah, Angraeng mah angmah ih kami ah suek hanah, nangcae to qoih boeh.
for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD has chosen you to be a people for His prized possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.
3 Panuet thok hmuen kawbaktih doeh caa hmah.
You must not eat any detestable thing.
4 Na caak han ih moinawk loe maitaw, tuu hoi maeh,
These are the animals that you may eat: The ox, the sheep, the goat,
5 Tasuk, tasuk kalen, sakhi, sathar, taw ih maeh, saza hoi mae nui ih tuunawk,
the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.
6 moi thungah a khokpadae hnetto kangbawk, rawkcak pathok thaih moinawk to caa oh.
You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud.
7 Rawkcak loe pathok thaih, toe khokpadae kangbawk moi thungah, kaengkuu hrang, saveh hoi kanghmong thlungkhaw thungah kaom moinawk to caa o hmah; to moinawk loe rawkcak pathok o thaih, toe a khok hnetto angbawk ai pongah, nangcae hanah ciim ai.
But of those that chew the cud or have a completely divided hoof, you are not to eat the following: the camel, the rabbit, or the rock badger. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof. They are unclean for you,
8 Ok loe a khok hnetto angbawk, toe rawkcak pathok ai pongah, nangcae han ciim ai; a moi to caa o hmah, kadueh qok doeh sui o hmah.
as well as the pig; though it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. It is unclean for you. You must not eat its meat or touch its carcass.
9 Tui thungah kaom moinawk boih thungah, pakhraeh hoi ahlip kaom tanganawk to caa oh.
Of all the creatures that live in the water, you may eat anything with fins and scales,
10 Toe pakhraeh hoi ahlip kaom ai tanganawk to loe caa o hmah; nangcae han ciim ai.
but you may not eat anything that does not have fins and scales; it is unclean for you.
11 Kaciim tavaanawk to na caak o boih thaih.
You may eat any clean bird,
12 Toe tahmu, tahmu prawn, moi caa kamnum tahmu prawnnawk,
but these you may not eat: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,
13 tahmu, masih hoi tahmu congcanawk boih,
the red kite, the falcon, any kind of kite,
14 pangaah tavaanawk boih,
any kind of raven,
15 bukbuh, tahnongsawk tui tavaa, aqum ah tavaa kacop thaih tahmunawk,
the ostrich, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,
16 kathoeng hoi kalen bukbuh tavaa boih, tahnongsawk tui tavaanawk,
the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,
17 praezaek ih bukbuh, tanga kacaa tahmu, tahnong ah rawkcak patunghaih kaom tavaanawk,
the desert owl, the osprey, the cormorant,
18 tahmawh sawk tui tavaa, akhok sawk moe, tahnong angkawn tavaa hoi pungpihnawk to caa o hmah.
the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, or the bat.
19 Pakhraeh kaom, kavak hinghaih tawn hmuennawk loe nangcae han ciim ai pongah caa o hmah.
All flying insects are unclean for you; they may not be eaten.
20 Toe kaciim tavaanawk boih to caa oh.
But you may eat any clean bird.
21 Nangcae loe na Angraeng Sithaw han ciimcai kami ah na oh o pongah, kadueh qok to caa o hmah; na vangpui thungah kaom angvin caak hanah paek oh; to tih ai boeh loe kalah kaminawk khaeah zaw oh; maeh caa loe amno ih tahnutui hoiah nawnto thong o hmah.
You are not to eat any carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
22 Na lawk thung hoi saning kruek tacawt thingthai qumponawk to, hato thungah maeto paek oh.
You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
23 Hato thungah maeto paek ih cang, misrutui hoi situi, tapen tangsuek maitawnawk hoi tuucaanawk to, angmah ih ahmin ohsak hanah, a qoih ih ahmuen ah na Angraeng Sithaw hmaa ah caa oh; to tiah na sak o nahaeloe, na Angraeng Sithaw to dungzan ah zit hanah nam tuk o thai tih.
And you are to eat a tenth of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks, in the presence of the LORD your God at the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
24 Na Angraeng Sithaw mah tahamhoihaih paek naah, Angraeng angmah ih ahmin to suek hanah, qoih ih ahmuen loe angthla parai pongah, hato thungah maeto na sin o thai ai nahaeloe,
But if the distance is too great for you to carry that with which the LORD your God has blessed you, because the place where the LORD your God will choose to put His Name is too far away,
25 hato thungah maeto paek ih hmuen to phoisa hoiah zaw oh; phoisa to sin oh loe, na Angraeng Sithaw mah qoih ih ahmuen ah caeh oh;
then exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.
26 to phoisa hoiah na koeh ih hmuen to qan ah; na caak koeh ih maitaw maw, to tih ai boeh loe tuu caa, to tih ai boeh loe misurtui maw, to tih ai boeh loe kalah naek koi tui maw, to tih ai boeh loe na koeh ih hmuen to na qan pacoengah, nangmacae Angraeng Sithaw hmaa ah, nangmah hoi na imthung takoh boih nawnto caa oh loe, kanawm ah om oh.
Then you may spend the money on anything you desire: cattle, sheep, wine, strong drink, or anything you wish. You are to feast there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice with your household.
27 Na vangpui thungah kaom Levinawk loe, nangcae salakah taham tawn o ai moe, qawk doeh toep o ai pongah, nihcae to pahnawt o sut hmah.
And do not neglect the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.
28 Saning thumto boeng pacoengah, saning kruek na sin o ih hato thungah maeto loe, nangmacae ih vangpui thungah suem oh;
At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates.
29 to naah nangcae salakah taham katawn ai, qawk doeh toep ai Levinawk, angvinnawk, na vangpui thungah kaom ampa tawn ai kaminawk hoi lamhmainawk angzo o ueloe, zok kamhah ah caa o tih; to tiah na sak o nahaeloe, na Angraeng Sithaw mah na ban hoiah sak ih hmuennawk boih ah tahamhoihaih paek tih.
Then the Levite (because he has no portion or inheritance among you), the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates may come and eat and be satisfied. And the LORD your God will bless you in all the work of your hands.
