< Daniel 2 >

1 Nebuchadnezzar loe siangpahrang ah ohhaih saning hnetto naah, amang to sak, zithaih palung a tawnh pongah, iip thai ai.
And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
2 Siangpahrang ih amang thuih han ih, miklet kop kaminawk, banpadae khet kop kaminawk, lungh aah kop kaminawk hoi Khaldian ih palungha kaminawk to kawk hanah lok a paek.
Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, in order to show the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
3 Siangpahrang mah nihcae khaeah, Amang maeto ka sak, amang to ka panoek ai pongah zithaih palungthin ka tawnh, tiah a naa.
And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.
4 To naah cakaeh khet kop kaminawk mah siangpahrang to Syria lok hoiah, Aw siangpahrang na hinglung sawk nasoe! Na tamnanawk khaeah amang to thui ah, kaicae mah kang leh pae o han hmang, tiah a naa o.
Then spoke the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.
5 Siangpahrang mah cakaeh khet kop kaminawk khaeah, Hae tiah lok ka takroek boeh; ka mang hae nang panoek o sak ai moe, nang leh pae o thai ai nahaeloe, aboengh aboengh ah kang takroek o moe, na imnawk doeh angpop sut maiphu baktiah ka sak han.
The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if all of you will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, all of you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
6 Toe ka mang hae nang panoek o sak moe, nang leh pae o thaih nahaeloe, kai khae hoi hnuk han koi tangqum hoi athonawk to na hnuk o pacoengah, kalen parai pakoehhaih to na hnu o tih; to pongah ka mang hoi a thuih koehhaih to na thui oh, tiah a naa.
But if all of you show the dream, and the interpretation thereof, all of you shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore show me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.
7 To naah nihcae mah, Siangpahrang mah a tamnanawk khaeah amang to thui nasoe, kaicae mah amang kang leh pae o han, tiah a naa o let.
They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation of it.
8 To naah siangpahrang mah, Lok takroekhaih ka sak boeh, tiah na panoek o pongah, atue akra han ih ni na sak o, tito ka panoek.
The king answered and said, I know of certainty that all of you would gain the time, because all of you see the thing is gone from me.
9 Amang nang thui o ai nahaeloe, nangcae han lok takroekhaih maeto khue ni oh boeh; atue akra hanah alinghaih hoi amsawnlok thuih han ih ni na poek o boeh; to pongah amang to na thui oh, to naah ni amang nang leh pae o thaih, tiah ka panoek tih, tiah a naa.
But if all of you will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for all of you have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that all of you can show me the interpretation thereof.
10 Cakaeh khet kop kaminawk mah siangpahrang khaeah, Siangpahrang mah hnuk ih hmuennawk kathui thaih kami long nuiah mi doeh om ai; kawbaktih siangpahrang, angraeng hoi ukkung mah doeh to baktih hmuennawk to miklet kop kami, cakaeh khet kop kami hoi lungh aah kop kaminawk khaeah dueng vai ai.
The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can show the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.
11 Siangpahrang mah dueng ih lok loe karai parai hmuen ah oh, taksa ah kaom ai sithawnawk khue mah ai ah loe, mi mah doeh siangpahrang hma ah thui thai mak ai, tiah a naa o.
And it is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is no other that can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
12 To lok to anih mah thaih naah siangpahrang loe paroeai palungphui moe, Babylon prae thungah kaom palungha kaminawk hum boih hanah lok a paek.
For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
13 Palungha kaminawk hum hanah lok takroek boeh pongah, nihcae mah Daniel hoi anih ih ampuinawk doeh hum hanah pakrong o.
And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.
14 Babylon prae thung ih palungha kaminawk hum han kacaeh, siangpahrang toepkung misatuh angraeng Ariok to Daniel mah palunghahaih hoiah lokdueng;
Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:
15 anih mah Ariok khaeah siangpahrang toepkung misatuh angraeng, tipongah siangpahrang mah karangah lokpaekhaih to sak loe? tiah a naa. To naah Ariok mah Daniel khaeah, Kangcoeng tangcae hmuen kawng to thuih pae.
He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.
16 To naah Daniel mah siangpahrang khaeah caeh moe, anih ih amang leh pae hanah atue to hnik.
Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would show the king the interpretation.
17 To pacoengah Daniel loe angmah im ah amlaem moe, to tiah kaom hmuen to ampuinawk ah kaom Hananiah, Mishael hoi Azariah khae ah thuih pae:
Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:
18 Daniel hoi anih ih ampuinawk mah Babylon prae thung ih palungha kaminawk hoi nawnto hum han ai ah, hae panoek thai ai ih hmuen pongah van Sithaw khaeah tahmen hnikhaih lawkthui o si, tiah a naa.
That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
19 Aqum ah loe panoek thai ai ih hmuen hnuksakhaih to Daniel khaeah amtueng pae. To naah Daniel mah van Sithaw to pakoeh.
Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
20 Daniel mah, palunghahaih hoi thacakhaih loe anih ih ni: Sithaw ih ahmin loe dungzan hoi dungzan khoek to pakoehaih om nasoe:
Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 Anih mah ni atue hoi khotuenawk to paqoi; siangpahrangnawk to takhoe moe, siangpahrangnawk to a suek; palungha kami khaeah palunghahaih to a paek moe, panoek thaihaih tawn kaminawk khaeah panoekhaih to a paek:
And he changes the times and the seasons: he removes kings, and sets up kings: he gives wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22 Anih mah ni kathuk hoi kanghawk hmuennawk to amtuengsak; aanghaih loe anih thungah oh pongah, vinghaih thungah kaom hmuen to anih mah panoek.
He reveals the deep and secret things: he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
23 Aw kam panawk ih Sithaw, na nuiah anghoehaih ka tawnh, nang kang pakoeh; palunghahaih hoi thacakhaih to nang paek, nang khaeah kang hnik o ih hmuen to vaihi nang panoeksak boeh; siangpahrang mah hnik ih hmuen to kaicae khaeah nam tuengsak boeh, tiah lawkthuih.
I thank you, and praise you, O you God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have made known unto me now what we desired of you: for you have now made known unto us the king's matter.
24 To pongah Daniel loe siangphrang mah Babylon prae thung ih palungha kaminawk hum han lokpaek ih Ariok taengah caeh moe, anih khaeah, Babylon prae ih palungha kaminawk to hum hmah; siangpahrang hma ah kai hae na hoi ah, kai mah siangpahrang ih amang to ka leh pae han, tiah a naa.
Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will show unto the king the interpretation.
25 Ariok mah Daniel to siangpahrang khaeah karangah caeh haih, anih khaeah, Judah prae hoi misong ah hoih ih kaminawk thungah siangpahrang ih amang leh thaih kami maeto ka hnuk boeh, tiah a naa.
Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.
26 Siangpahrang mah, Belteshazzar, tiah kawk ih Daniel khaeah, Ka hnuk ih amang to nang leh pae thaih han maw? tiah a naa.
The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
27 Daniel mah, siangpahrang hma ah, Siangpahrang mah dueng ih panoek karai hmuen loe palungha kaminawk, cakaeh khet kop kaminawk, miklet kop kaminawk hoi banpadae khet kop kaminawk mah thui o thai mak ai;
Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king has demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, show unto the king;
28 toe hmuen kanghawk thuikung Sithaw loe van ah oh; anih mah hmabang ah kaom han koi hmuen to Nebuchadnezzar siangpahrang khaeah amtuengsak boeh. Na maang ih, iihkhun nuiah nang songh naah na hnuk ih hmuen loe hae tiah oh;
But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets, and makes known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, are these;
29 Aw siangpahrang, nang khaeah, iihkhun nuiah na oh naah hmabang angzo han koi poekhaih to na palung thungah angzoh, hmuen kanghawk amtuengsakkung mah hmabang angzo han koi hmuen to nang khaeah panoeksak boeh.
As for you, O king, your thoughts came into your mind upon your bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that reveals secrets makes known to you what shall come to pass.
30 Kai loe minawk kalah pong palungha kue pongah hae kanghawk hmuen hae kai khaeah amtueng ai, siangpahrang ih amang to panoek moe, palung thung hoi na poek ih hmuen na panoek thai han ih ni, Sithaw mah kai khaeah amtuengsak.
But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that you might know the thoughts of your heart.
31 Aw siangpahrang, Na khet naah paroeai kalen krang to na hnuk. Hae paroeai kalen kampha krang loe paroeai hoih moe, na hma ah angdoet; amtuenghaih dan loe paroeai zit thoh.
You, O king, saw, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before you; and the form thereof was terrible.
32 To krang ih lu loe kaciim sui ah oh, saoek hoi ban tampawk loe sum kanglung ah oh moe, zok hoi phaih loe sum kamling ah oh,
This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33 a khok loe sum, khokpadae loe sum ahap long ahap ah oh.
His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34 Na khet li naah, kami ban hoi pakhoih ai ih thlung maeto mah sum hoi long kangbaeh krang ih khok to vah pongah, khok loe koih o phaeng.
You saw till that a stone was cut out without hands, which stroke the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 To naah sum, long, sum kamling, sum kanglung hoi kaciim suinawk loe nawnto koih o boih moe, nipui tue cang atit ih tavai baktiah oh o; hnuk han om ai ah takhi mah hmuh phaeng; krang va phaeng kalen parai thlung loe mae pui ah angcoeng moe, long ah koi boih.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that stroke the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
36 Na mang loe hae tiah oh; vaihi siangpahrang hma ah amang thuikoehhaih to kang thuih pae o han.
This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37 Aw siangpahrang, Nang loe siangpahrangnawk ih siangpahrang ah na oh; van Sithaw mah prae ukhaih, toksak thaihaih, thacakhaih hoi lensawkhaih to nang hanah ang paek.
You, O king, are a king of kings: for the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
And where ever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven has he given into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all. You are this head of gold.
39 Nang pacoengah nang pong ka hnaem kue, siangpahrang ukhaih prae kalah maeto om tih; to pacoengah thumto haih sum kamling ukhaih prae, tiah kaom, kalah siangpahrang ukhaih prae mah long nui to uk boih tih.
And after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40 Palito haih thacak siangpahrang ukhaih prae loe sum kamtak baktiah om tih; sum mah loe kalah hmuennawk to koihsak moe, hmuen boih to pazawk; sum mah hmuennawk boih koihsak baktih toengah, anih mah kalah hmuennawk to koisak ueloe, pacaekthlaek tih.
And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and subdues all things: and as iron that breaks all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41 Na hnuk ih krang ih khokpadae hoi khokpazungnawk loe sum ahap long ahap ah oh baktih toengah, to siangpahrang ukhaih prae loe angkom thai mak ai; toe na hnuk ih krang loe sum hoi long angbaeh baktih toengah, prae thungah sum thacakhaih to om tih.
And whereas you saw the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 Na hnuk ih sum hoi long angbaeh khokpazungnawk baktih toengah, prae loe ahap thacak ueloe, ahap koi tih.
And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43 Na hnuk ih sum hoi long angbaeh baktih toengah, nihcae loe acaeng kalah kaminawk hoi angbaeh o tih; toe sum hoi long angbet thai ai baktih toengah, nihcae loe maeto hoi maeto poek amhong o mak ai.
And whereas you saw iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 To siangpahrangnawk ih atue thuem ah, natuek naah doeh amro thai ai siangpahrang ukhaih prae to van Sithaw mah phasak tih; to ukhaih prae loe minawk kalah khaeah caehtaak mak ai, siangpahrang ukhaih praenawk to amrosak boih ueloe, boenghaih phasak tih; toe anih ih prae loe dungzan khoek to cak tih.
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45 Na hnuk ih kami ban hoi sak ih na ai ah mae thung hoi lak ih thlung mah, koi phaeng ah vah ih sum, sum kamling, long, kaciim sui hoi sum kanglungnawk loe, lensawk Sithaw mah hmabang ah kaom han koi hmuen siangpahrang khaeah amtuengsak ih ni; amang loe palung uihcom han om ai, amang lehhaih loe tangtang ah oh, tiah a naa.
Forasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God has made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
46 To naah Nebuchadnezzar loe a hma ah akuep moe, Daniel to bok, anih khaeah hmuihoih to thlaek moe, hmuenpaekhaih sak hanah lok a paek.
Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
47 Siangpahrang mah Daniel khaeah, Na Sithaw loe sithawnawk ih Sithaw, siangpahrangnawk ih Angraeng, kanghawk hmuen amtuengsak Sithaw ah oh tangtang pongah, hae panoek ai ih hmuen hae nang thuih thaih, tiah a naa.
The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Truthfully it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you could reveal this secret.
48 Siangpahrang mah Daniel hanah kalen tok to paek, pop parai tangqum doeh a paek; anih to Babylon prae ahap ukkung ah suek moe, Babylon palungha kaminawk boih ukkung ah doeh a suek.
Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
49 To pacoengah Daniel mah hnik ih baktih toengah siangpahrang mah, Shadrach, Meshach hoi Abed-nego cae doeh Babylon prae ahap ukkung ah suek; toe Daniel loe siangpahrang ohhaih im ah toksak.
Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.
