< Amos 6 >
1 Nangcae Zion ah phuhnaep kaminawk, Samaria mae angoep haih kaminawk, Israel kaminawk angzohhaih, acaeng kalah kaminawk pongah ka sang koek, tiah poekhaih tawn kaminawk, khosak na bing o!
Woe to those at ease in Zion and those secure on Mount Samaria, the distinguished ones of the foremost nation, to whom the house of Israel comes.
2 Kalneh ah caeh oh loe, khen oh; to hoiah thacak Hamath ah caeh oh; to pacoengah Philistia ah kaom Gath ah caeh o tathuk ah: nangcae loe to ah kaom siangpahrang ukhaih praenawk pongah na hoih o kue maw? To tih ai boeh loe nihcae ih ramri pongah nangcae ih ramri to len kue maw?
Cross over to Calneh and see; go from there to the great Hamath; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Is their territory larger than yours?
3 Sethaih ni to na suek o sut moe, athii palonghaih to nang hnai o sak lat;
You dismiss the day of calamity and bring near a reign of violence.
4 tasaino hoiah sak ih iihkhun nuiah na ih o, anghnuthaih kasawk nuiah nang hnuk o moe, kahoih koek tuucaa hoi maitaw kathawk moi hoiah buh na caak o;
You lie on beds inlaid with ivory, and lounge upon your couches. You dine on lambs from the flock and calves from the stall.
5 David baktiah nangmacae hanah katoeng to na sak o moe, tamoi lok hoiah koeh baktiah laa to na sak o.
You improvise songs on the harp like David and invent your own musical instruments.
6 Boengloeng koi mongah misurtui to na naek o, kahoih koek hmuihoih tui to nang nok o, Joseph pacaekthlaekhaih pongah palung na sae o ai.
You drink wine by the bowlful and anoint yourselves with the finest oils, but you fail to grieve over the ruin of Joseph.
7 To pongah nangcae loe tamna ah caeh kaminawk thungah hmaloe koek kami ah na om o tih; nihcae ih kanawm poihsakhaih loe boeng tih boeh.
Therefore, you will now go into exile as the first of the captives, and your feasting and lounging will come to an end.
8 Angraeng Sithaw angmah roe mah lokkamhaih to sak boeh, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah, Jakob amoekhaih to ka panuet, anih angraenghaih ahmuennawk to ka hnukma; to pong ah vangpui hoi a thungah kaom hmuennawk boih minawk ban ah ka paek han, tiah thuih.
The Lord GOD has sworn by Himself—the LORD, the God of Hosts, has declared: “I abhor Jacob’s pride and detest his citadels, so I will deliver up the city and everything in it.”
9 Imthung maeto ah kami hato anghmat o nahaeloe, nihcae doeh dueh o vop tih.
And if there are ten men left in one house, they too will die.

And when the relative who is to burn the bodies picks them up to remove them from the house, he will call to one inside, “Is anyone else with you?” “None,” that person will answer. “Silence,” the relative will retort, “for the name of the LORD must not be invoked.”
11 Khenah, Angraeng mah lokpaek boeh, anih mah kalen im to phrae ueloe, tetta im doeh phrae boih tih.
For the LORD gives a command: “The great house will be smashed to pieces, and the small house to rubble.”
12 Thlung kathah nuiah hrang cawnh thai maw? Kami mah maitaw tae hoi thlung nuiah laikok atok thai maw? Nangcae mah toenghaih to kakhaa ahmuet ah nang coeng o sak moe, toenghaih athaih to na khaa o sak ving boeh.
“Do horses gallop on the cliffs? Does one plow the sea with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood—
13 Nangcae loe tidoeh kaom ai, hmuen nuiah anghoehaih na tawnh o; aimacae tharahhaih rang hoiah na ai maw takiinawk to a lak o? tiah na thuih o.
you who rejoice in Lo-debar and say, ‘Did we not take Karnaim by our own strength?’
14 Khenah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah, Aw Israel imthung takoh, nangcae tuk hanah prae maeto ka pathawk han, nihcae mah nangcae to Hamath akunhaih hoi praezaek vapui karoek to na pacaekthlaek o tih, tiah thuih.
For behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD, the God of Hosts, “and they will oppress you from Lebo-hamath to the Brook of the Arabah.”
