< Amos 3 >

1 Aw Israel caanawk, Izip prae hoiah kang zaeh o ih imthung takoh boih, nangcae Angraeng mah thuih ih nangcae misa haih lok hae tahngai oh,
Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:
2 long ah kaom kaminawk thungah nang khue ni kang panoek: to pongah na sak ih zaehaihnawk boih pongah dan kang paek han.
“Only you have I known from all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”
3 Palungduehaih om ai ah kami hnik loe nawnto caeh hoi thai tih maw?
Can two walk together without agreeing where to go?
4 Moi kaek ai ah kaipui loe taw ah hang tih maw? Saning kanawk kaipui loe tidoeh caa ai ah thlungkhaw thungah hang tih maw?
Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl in his den if he has caught nothing?
5 Dongh patung ai ah tavaa aman tih maw? Dongh loe tidoeh amaan ai ah angmah koeh ah amkhrawt maw?
Does a bird land in a snare where no bait has been set? Does a trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch?
6 Vangpui thungah mongkah ueng naah, kaminawk zii ai ah om o tih maw? Vangpui thung ih raihaih loe Angraeng mah na ai maw ohsak?
If a ram’s horn sounds in a city, do the people not tremble? If calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?
7 Angraeng Sithaw mah tamquta hoi sak atim ih hmuen to a tamna tahmaanawk khaeah thui ai ah, tih hmuen doeh sah ai.
Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.
8 Kaipui hang naah, mi maw zii ai ah kaom? Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih ih lok to thui ai ah, mi maw om thai tih?
The lion has roared— who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken— who will not prophesy?
9 Ashdod angraeng ohhaih ahmuen ah kaom kaminawk hoi Izip prae angraeng ohhaih ahmuen ah kaom kaminawk khaeah, Samaria ih maenawk nuiah amkhueng oh loe, vangpui thungah kaom pacaekthlaekhaih to khen oh, tiah a naa.
Proclaim to the citadels of Ashdod and to the citadels of Egypt: “Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; see the great unrest in the city and the acts of oppression in her midst.”
10 Tha patoh hoi a lak o ih hmuenmaenawk to siangpahrang imthung ah patung o; nihcae loe hmuen katoeng sak han panoek o ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“For they know not how to do right,” declares the LORD. “They store up violence and destruction in their citadels.”
11 To pongah Angraeng Sithaw mah, Misa mah prae to takui khoep ueloe, na thacakhaih to amtimsak pacoengah, nang raenghaih ahmuennawk to amro tih, tiah thuih.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “An enemy will surround the land; he will pull down your strongholds and plunder your citadels.”
12 Angraeng mah, Tuutoep kami mah kaipui pakha thung ih tuu ih khok hnetto maw, to tih ai boeh loe naa ahap maw a lomh pae let thaih baktih toengah, Samaria iihkhun takii ah kaom Israel hoi Damaska ih tangkhang nuiah anghnu Israel kaminawk to la tih, tiah thuih.
This is what the LORD says: “As the shepherd snatches from the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so the Israelites dwelling in Samaria will be rescued having just the corner of a bed or the cushion of a couch.
13 Nangcae mah lok hae tahngai oh loe, Jakob imthung takoh khaeah hae lok hae thui paeh, tiah misatuh kaminawk ukkung Sithaw, Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
Hear and testify against the house of Jacob, declares the Lord GOD, the God of Hosts.
14 Angmacae sakpazaehaih baktiah Israel danpaekhaih niah, Bethel ih hmaicamnawk to kam rosak han; hmaicam ih takiinawk to amro tih, to naah takiinawk long ah krah o tih.
On the day I punish Israel for their transgressions, I will visit destruction on the altars of Bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off, and they will fall to the ground.
15 Sik tue ih im hoi nipui tue ih im to ka phraek han; tasaino hoiah sak ih imnawk to anghmaa ueloe, kalen parai imnawk doeh amro tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
I will tear down the winter house along with the summer house; the houses of ivory will also perish, and the great houses will come to an end,”
