1 Kalen koek qaima mah, nihcae mah zae nethaih loe tangtang maw? tiah a dueng.
And the High-priest said—Are these things, so?
2 Anih mah, Nawkamyanawk hoi kam panawk, ka lok hae tahngai oh; aicae ampa Abraham loe Haran ah om ai vop, Mesopotamia ah a oh naah, Sithaw lensawkhaih anih khaeah amtueng,
And, he, said—Brethren and fathers, hearken! The God of Glory, appeared unto our father Abraham, while he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, —
3 Sithaw mah anih khaeah, Na prae hoi nangmah ih acaeng to caehtaak ah loe, kang patuek han ih prae ah cae ah, tiah a naa.
And said unto him—Get thee forth, out of thy land, and from among thy kindred, and come unto the land which, unto thee, I will point out.
4 To pongah anih mah Khaldia prae to caehtaak moe, Haran ah khosak: ampa duek naah ni vaihi na oh o haih prae ah Sithaw mah caehsak vop.
Then, coming forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, he dwelt in Haran; and, from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, in which, ye, now dwell;
5 Sithaw mah anih to qawk paek ai, khok cawhhaih kakhawt ahmuen mataeng doeh paek ai: Abraham loe caa sah ai vop, toe anih hoi anih atiinawk mah prae to qawk ah toep o tih, tiah Sithaw mah lokkamhaih to paek.
And gave him no inheritance therein, not even a place to set his foot on; and yet promised to give it unto him in possession, and unto his seed after him, when as yet he had not a child.
6 Sithaw mah hae tiah lokthuih pae, Nang ih atiinawk loe minawk prae ah angvin ah om o tih; minawk mah nihcae to misong ah patoh o ueloe, saning cumvai palito thung pacaekthlaekhaih tong o tih.
But God, spake thus—His seed shall be a sojourner in a foreign land, and they will bring it into bondage, and ill-treat it four-hundred years;
7 Toe nihcae misong ah patoh prae to lok ka caek han, to pacoengah nihcae tacawt o ueloe, hae ahmuen ah Kai na bok o tih, tiah Sithaw mah thuih.
And, the nation unto which they shall be in bondage, will, I, judge—said God; and, after these things, shall they come forth, and render divine service unto me, in this place.
8 To pacoengah Anih mah tangzat hin aah han lokmaihaih to Abraham khaeah paek: Abraham mah Isak to sak moe, ni tazetto naah tangzat hin to aah pae; Isak mah Jakob to sak, Jakob ih caanawk loe acaeng hatlai hnettonawk ih ampanawk ah oh o.
And he gave unto him a covenant of circumcision; and, thus, he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day, and Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob, the twelve patriarchs.
9 Acaeng ampanawk mah Joseph to ut o pongah, Izip prae ah zawh o: toe Sithaw loe anih hoi nawnto oh,
And, the patriarchs, being jealous of Joseph, gave him up into Egypt; and, God, was, with him,
10 to pongah raihaih congca thung hoiah anih to pahlong, Izip prae siangpahrang, Faro hma ah palunghahaih hoi mikcuk naakrak ah khosak thaihaih to Joseph khaeah paek; to pongah Faro mah Izip prae hoi anih ih imthung takoh boih ukkung ah suek.
And rescued him out of all his tribulations, and gave him favour and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he appointed him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 To naah Izip prae hoi Kanaan prae thung boih ah takaang thoh, paroeai raihaih oh pongah, aicae ampanawk loe caaknaek khawt ah hnu o ai.
And there came a famine upon all Egypt and Canaan, and great tribulation, and our fathers could not find pasture.
12 Izip prae ah cang oh mang ti, tiah Jakob mah thaih naah, anih mah aicae ampanawk to hmaloe koekah patoeh.
But Jacob, hearing there was corn in Egypt, sent off our fathers, first;
13 Vai hnetto caeh o naah Joseph mah angmah ih nawkamyanawk khaeah anih loe mi maw, tito taphong pae; to pacoeng na hoi loe Faro mah Joseph imthung takohnawk to panoek boeh.
And, the second time, Joseph was made known unto his brethren, and, the race of Joseph was made, manifest, unto Pharaoh.
14 To pacoengah Joseph mah ampa Jakob hoi angmah ih nawkamyanak boih angmah khaeah angzoh o hanah, kami patoeh moe, kawksak, caanawk loe sangqum boih ah qui sarih, pangato phak o.
And Joseph, sending forth, called for Jacob his father, and all the kindred, consisting of seventy-five souls;
15 To pongah Jakob loe Izip prae ah caeh tathuk, anih hoi aicae ampanawk loe to prae ah duek o,
And Jacob went down [into Egypt]. And he died, he, and our fathers;
16 qok to Sekem ah angzoh o haih moe, Abraham mah Sekem ah Hamor caanawk khaeah phoisa hoi qan ih taprong ah aphum o.
And were brought over into Shechem, and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased, for a price of silver, of the sons of Hamor in Shechem.
17 Toe Sithaw mah Abraham khaeah lokkamhaih atue phak tom naah loe, Izip prae ah,
Now, just as the time of the promise was drawing near wherewith God had agreed with Abraham, the people grew, and were multiplied in Egypt, —
18 Joseph panoek ai, siangpahrang kalah tacawt karoek to, kami paroeai pung o.
Until there arose another sort of king over Egypt, who had not known Joseph.

In which season, Moses, was born, and was exceeding goodly, —who was nourished up three months in the house of his father;

But, when he was exposed, the daughter of Pharaoh rescued him, and nourished him for herself, as a son.

And, so Moses was trained in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his words and works.
23 Mosi saning quipalito akoep naah loe, angmah ih nawkamya Israel kaminawk khaeah paqaih hanah a poek.
And, when there was being fulfilled unto him a period of forty years, it came up on his heart to look after his brethren the sons of Israel;
24 Angmah acaeng maeto loe sakpazaehaih tidoeh om ai ah pacaekthlaek o, tiah anih mah hnuk naah, to kami to anih mah angsak haih, pacaekthlaek ih angmah acaeng kami ih lu lak pae hanah, Izip kami to a hum.
And, seeing one being wronged, he defended him, and avenged him that was getting worn out, smiting the Egyptian.
25 Sithaw mah anih ih ban patohhaih rang hoiah nihcae to loihsak, tiah angmacae kaminawk mah panoek o thai tih mue, tiah Mosi mah poek; toe nihcae mah panoek pae o thai ai.
But he supposed his brethren would understand that, God, through his hand, would give them deliverance; whereas they understood not.
26 Khawnbangah loe kangpanh kami hnik khaeah a caeh, nihnik angdaehsak han a koeh pongah, Nanghnik loe, nawkamya ah ni na oh hoi; tipongah maeto hoi maeto nang panh hoi loe? tiah a naa.
On the following day also, he appeared unto them, as they were contending, and would have reconciled them in peace, saying—Men! ye are, brothers! Wherefore wrong ye one another?
27 Toe ampui nuiah kasae sah kami mah Mosi to nuih moe, Mi mah maw kaihnik ukkung hoi lokcaekkung ah ang suek?
But, he that was wronging his neighbour, thrust him away, saying—Who hath appointed, thee, to be ruler and judge over us?
28 Zangduem ah Izip kami na hum baktih toengah, kai doeh hum han na koeh vop maw? tiah a naa.
Art, thou, wishing, to kill me, in the same way thou didst kill, yesterday, the Egyptian?
29 To lok to Mosi mah thaih naah, cawnh moe, Midian prae ah angvin ah khosak; toah caa hnetto a sak.
And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
30 Saning quipalito laemh pacoengah, Angraeng ih van kami mah praezaek Sinai mae ah, kabuk thing thung ih kangqong hmaipalai thung hoiah Mosi to amtueng thuih.
And, when forty years were fulfilled, there appeared unto him, in the desert of Mount Sinai, a messenger, in a flame of fire, in a bush.
31 Mosi mah to tiah kangqong hmai to hnuk naah, dawnrai pongah khet hanah a taengah caeh, to naah Angraeng ih lok to a thaih,
And, Moses, seeing it, marvelled at the sight; and, as he was going near to observe, there came a voice of the Lord—
32 Kai loe nam panawk ih Sithaw, Abraham Sithaw, Isak Sithaw, Jakob Sithaw ah ka oh, tiah a naa. Mosi loe tasoeh takuenhaih hoiah oh moe, khen ngam ai.
I, am the God of thy fathers, The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And Moses becoming, terrified, durst not observe.
33 Angraeng mah anih khaeah, Nang doethaih ahmuen loe kaciim ah oh pongah, na khokpanai to angkhring ah:
And the Lord said unto him—Loose the sandals of thy feet; for, the place whereon thou art standing, is, hallowed ground.
34 Izip prae ah kaom Kai ih kaminawk patangkhanghaih to Ka hnuk boeh; nihcae hanghaih lok Ka thaih pongah, nihcae loihsak hanah kang zoh tathuk boeh. Vaihi angzo ah, Izip prae ah kang patoeh han, tiah a naa.
I have, indeed seen, the ill-treatment of my people that is in Egypt, and, unto their groaning, have I hearkened, and have come down to rescue them. Now, therefore, come! I will send thee into Egypt.
35 Hae Mosi mataeng doeh nihcae mah pahnawt o; mi mah maw nang hae ukkung hoi lokcaekkung ah ang suek? tiah a naa o, toe anih loe kabuk thing thung hoi kamtueng Van kami ih ban rang hoiah Sithaw mah nihcae ukkung hoi pahlongkung ah patoeh.
The same Moses whom they had refused, saying—Who hath appointed thee to be ruler and judge? the same, both as ruler and redeemer, did God send, by the hand of the messenger who had appeared unto him in the bush:
36 Izip prae, tuipui kathim hoi praezaek ah, saning quipalito thung dawnrai hmuen hoi angmathaih hmuennawk to amtuengsak, to pacoengah nihcae to Izip prae thung hoiah a zaeh.
The same, led them forth, doing wonders and signs in Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the desert, forty years:
37 Mosi mah Israel caanawk khaeah, Na Angraeng Sithaw mah nangmacae thung hoiah, kai baktih tahmaa maeto tacawtsak tih, anih ih lok to na tahngai o han oh, tiah a naa.
The same, is the Moses that said unto the sons of Israel—A prophet, unto you, will God raise up, from among your brethren, like unto me:
38 Mosi loe praezaek ah kaminawk nawnto amkhuengsak moe, Sinai mae ah van kami hoiah lok apaeh, aicae ampanawk hoi nawnto a oh; Anih mah aicae khae paek hanah thuih ih hinghaih lok to talawk.
The same, is he that came to be in the assembly in the desert, with the messenger who was speaking with him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, he who welcomed living utterances, to give unto us:
39 Toe ampanawk mah lok to tahngai pae o ai, anih to pahnawt o, nihcae loe Izip prae ah amlaem let hanah poekhaih tawnh o.
Unto whom, our fathers would not become obedient, but thrust him away, and turned in their hearts unto Egypt,
40 Izip prae hoi aicae zaehoikung Mosi loe kawbangmaw oh boeh, tito a panoek o ai pongah, Aaron khaeah, Kaicae hma ah caeh hanah sithawnawk to na sah paeh, tiah a naa o.
Saying unto Aaron—Make as gods who shall go before us; for, as for this Moses who brought us forth out of Egypt, we know not what hath befallen him!
41 To naah maitaw caa krang to a sak o moe, krang khaeah hmuen tathlanghaih to a sak o, angmacae ban hoi sak o ih hmuen nuiah a nawm o.
And so they fell to calf-making in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.
42 To pongah van ah kaom hmuennawk to bok o hanah, Sithaw mah nihcae to angqoi taak ving; tahmaanawk ih cabu thungah, Aw Israel kaminawk, saning quipalito thung praezaek ah moi na boh o moe, kai khaeah angbawnhaih na sak o vai maw?
But God, turned, and delivered them up to be doing divine service unto the host of heaven, —just as it is written in a book of the prophets—Victims and sacrifices did ye offer unto me, forty years in the desert, O house of Israel?
43 Ue, Molek bokhaih im to lak moe, na bok o hanah, nangmacae ih sithaw Rephah cakaeh hoi krangnawk to na sak o: to pongah nangcae to Babylon yaeh ah kang hoih han.
Nay! but ye took with you the tent of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, —the forms which ye made to bow down unto them: therefore will I carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 Sithaw mah kahni im to Mosi khaeah patuek, anih mah hnuk ih krang baktih toengah sak hanah, anih khaeah thuih pae boeh, aicae ampanawk loe praezaek ah hnukung kahni im to a tawnh o.
The tent of witness, was with our fathers in the desert, according as he who was speaking unto Moses, gave instructions, to make it, according to the model which he had seen.
45 Aicae ampanawk mah kahni im to lak o, Joshua hoi nawnto Gentelnawk prae thungah a caeh o naah to kahni im to a sin o, Sithaw mah Gentelnawk to David dung karoek to aicae ampanawk hma hoiah a haek pae;
Which our fathers succeeding to, also brought in, with Joshua, when taking possession of the nations, which God put out from before our fathers until the days of David;
46 David loe Sithaw koehhaih baktiah khosak pongah, Jakob ih Sithaw ohhaih ahmuen to hnuk hanah a hnik.
Who found favour before God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
47 Toe Solomon mah ni Anih hanah im to sak pae.
But, Solomon, built him a house.
48 Toe Kasang Koek ah kaom Sithaw loe kami mah ban hoi sak ih im ah om ai.
Although indeed, the Most High, not in hand-made places, dwelleth; just as, the prophet, saith—
49 Van loe kang hnukhaih angraeng tangkhang ah oh moe, long loe ka khok koenghaih ah oh: Angraeng mah, kawbaktih im maw nang sak pae o han? To tih ai boeh loe kang hakhaih ahmuen loe kawbaktih ahmuen maw?
Heaven is my thrown, and, the earth, is my footstool: What manner of house, will ye build me, saith the Lord, —Or what shall be the place of my resting?
50 Hae hmuennawk boih loe Ka ban hoiah sak ih hmuen ah na ai maw oh o? tiah thuih.
Hath not, my hand, made all these things?
51 Nangcae palung thah kami, palung hoi naa tangzat hin aat ai kaminawk! Nangcae loe nam panawk mah sak o ih hmuen baktih toengah ni na sak o; Kacai Muithla to vaihi hoi vaihi na pahnawt o.
Ye stiff-necked and uncircumcised in hearts and in ears, ye, always, against the Holy Spirit, do strive! As your fathers, ye also:
52 Nam panawk mah pacaekthlaek ai ih tahmaa mi maw kaom? Thuihcoek ih angzo han koi katoeng Kami doeh nihcae mah hum o; anih to vaihi nang phat o taak pongah, kami hum kami ah na oh o boeh:
Which of the prophets, did not your fathers persecute? Yea they slew them who declared beforehand concerning the coming of the Righteous One—of whom, now, ye, have become, betrayers and murderers!
53 van kaminawk rang hoiah kaalok to na hak o, toe na pazui o ai, tiah a naa.
Who, indeed, received the law through ranks of messengers, —and guarded it not.
54 To lok to nihcae mah thaih o naah, palung tapok duih khoek to palungphui o moe, Stephen to haa kaek o thuih.
And, while they were hearing these things, they were being pierced in their hearts, and began gnashing their teeth against him.
55 Toe Stephen loe Kacai Muithla hoiah koi, van bangah a khet tahang naah, Sithaw lensawkhaih hoi Sithaw bantang bangah kangdoe Jesu to a hnuk.
But he, being already full of Holy Spirit, looking steadfastly into heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God;
56 Stephen mah, Khenah! Vannawk loe amongh moe, Sithaw bantang bangah kangdoe Kami Capa to ka hnuk, tiah a naa.
And said—Lo! I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man, standing, on the right hand of God.
57 Nihcae loe angmacae ih naa to tamuep o moe, tha hoi a hangh o pacoengah, Stephen khaeah nawnto cawnh o;
And, crying out with a loud voice, they held their ears, and rushed with one accord upon him;
58 anih to avang tasa bangah cae o haih moe, thlung hoiah vah o maat: to naah hnukung ah kaom kaminawk loe angmacae ih khukbuen to thendoeng maeto ih khokkung ah a suek o, to kami ih ahmin loe Saul.
And, thrusting him forth outside the city, proceeded to stone him. And, the witnesses, laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 Nihcae mah Stephen thlung hoiah vah o naah, Stephen mah Sithaw ih ahmin to palawk, Angraeng Jesu, ka pakhra hae talawk ah, tiah lawk a thuih.
And they stoned Stephen, as he was invoking and saying—Lord Jesus! give welcome unto my spirit.
60 To pacoengah anih loe khokkhu cangkrawn moe, Angraeng, nihcae zaehaih to pathok hmah, tiah tha hoiah a hang. Hae lok a thuih pacoengah loe, a iih boeh.
And, kneeling down, he cried out with a loud voice—Lord! do not charge against them, this sin. And, having said this, he fell asleep.
