< Toksahkungnawk 13 >

1 Tahmaa hoi patukkungnawk loe, Antiok vangpui ih kricabu pum-im thungah oh o, Barnabas, Niger, tiah kawk o ih Simeon, Cyrene vangpui ih Lucius, Manen (anih loe prae ahap ukkung Herod hoi nawnto kaqoeng ampui ah oh) hoi Saul cae doeh oh o.
Now there were in Antioch, distributed through the existing assembly, —prophets and teachers: both Barnabas and Symeon who was called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen also, Herod the tetrarch’s foster-brother, and Saul.
2 Angraeng ih tok to sak o moe, buh a zah o naah, toksak han Ka kawk ih baktih toengah, Barnabas hoi Saul to Kai hanah pahoe oh, tiah Kacai Muithla mah thuih.
And, as they were publicly ministering unto the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said—Separate forthwith unto me, Barnabas and Saul, unto the work whereunto I have called them.
3 Nihcae loe buhzah hoiah lawkthuih o, nihnik nuiah bankoeng pae o moe, nihnik to patoeh o.
Then, fasting and praying, and laying their hands upon them, they sent them away.
4 Nihnik loe Kacai Muithla mah patoeh ih baktih toengah, Silucia ah caeh hoi tathuk moe, to ahmuen hoiah Cyprus ah palong hoiah a caeh hoi.
They, therefore, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down unto Seleucia, and, from thence, sailed away unto Cyprus;
5 Salamis vangpui a phak hoi naah, Judahnawk ih Sineko ah Sithaw lok to a thuih hoi: nihnik bomkung ah oh hanah, Johan doeh caeh toeng.
And, coming to be in Salamis, they declared the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; —and they had, John also, as an attendant.
6 Tui mah takui ih prae hoiah a caeh o poe, Paphos phak o naah loe Barjesu, tiah ahmin kaom, tahmaa ah kangsah, miklet kop, Judah kami maeto a hnuk o:
And, passing through the whole island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false-prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus;
7 anih loe prae ukkung Sergia Paula khaeah oh, prae ukkung loe palungha kami ah oh, anih loe Sithaw lok thaih han koeh pongah, Barnaba hoi Saul to kawk.
Who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. The same, calling for Barnabas and Saul, sought to hear the word of God.
8 Toe prae ukkung mah tanghaih tawnh han ai ah, (miklet kop, tiah ahmin kaom, ) Elima mah nihnik ih lok to aek.
But Elymas the magician, —for so, when translated, is his name, —withstood them; seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.
9 To naah Paul, tiah kawk ih Saul loe Kacai Muithla hoiah koi, miklet kop kami to mikpakhrip ai ah a khet moe,
But Saul, who is also Paul, filled with Holy Spirit, looking steadfastly at him,
10 alinghaih, sethaih boih hoiah kakoi, nang taqawk caa, toenghaih hmuennawk boih ih misa, katoeng Angraeng ih loklam hoiah kami loklam nam khraengsakhaih tok to na toengh mak ai maw?
Said—O full of all guile, and all recklessness! Son of an adversary! Enemy of all righteousness!—Wilt thou not cease to pervert the straight ways of the Lord?
11 Khenah, Angraeng ih ban na nuiah oh, mik na maeng ueloe, khotue nasetto thungah maw loe ni aengh to na hnu mak ai, tiah a naa. Akra ai ah tamai hoi khoving to anih nuiah krak; to naah ban hoi zaeh hanah anih mah kaminawk to pakrong.
Now, therefore, lo! the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun, until a fitting time. And, instantly, there fell upon him a mist and darkness; and, going about, he was seeking such as might lead him by the hand.
12 Prae ukkung mah to hmuen to hnuk naah, tanghaih tawnh, Angraeng ih patukhaih hmuen nuiah a dawnrai.
Then, the proconsul, seeing what had happened, believed, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.
13 Pawl hoi angmah ih ampuinawk loe Paphos vangpui hoi Pamphylia prae thungah kaom Perga vangpui ah caeh o: Johan mah to ahmuen hoiah nihcae to Jerusalem ah amlaem taak ving.
And, setting sail from Paphos, Paul’s company came into Perga of Pamphylia; but, John, withdrawing from them, returned unto Jerusalem.
14 Nihcae loe Perga hoiah Pesidia prae, Antiok ah caeh o, Sabbath niah loe Sineko ah caeh o moe, anghnut o.
They, however, passing through from Perga, arrived at Antioch of Pisidia; and, going into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, sat down.
15 Kaalok hoi tahmaanawk ih cabu to kroek o pacoengah, Sineko ukkungnawk mah nihcae khaeah, nawkamyanawk, thapaekhaih lokthuih han om nahaeloe, a thuih o hanah, kami to patoeh moe, thaih o sak.
And, after the reading of the law and the prophets, the synagogue-rulers sent unto them, saying—Brethren! if there is in you a word of exhortation unto the people, say on.
16 Pawl loe angdoet tahang moe, kaminawk boih ban payangh thuih pacoengah, Israel kaminawk hoi Sithaw zii kaminawk, ka lok hae tahngai oh:
And Paul, standing up, and making a sign with his hand, said—Ye men of Israel! and such as revere God! hearken: —
17 hae Israel kaminawk ih Sithaw mah aicae ampanawk to qoih moe, Izip prae thungah angvin ah a oh o naah, nihcae to tapom tahang, a thacakhaih ban hoiah nihcae to prae thung hoiah tacawt haih.
The God of this people Israel, chose our fathers, and, the people, he exalted, by their sojourn in the land of Egypt, —and, with a high arm, brought he them out of it;
18 Saning quipalito thung praezaek ah nihcae to a khetzawn.
And, for the time of about forty years, bare with their manners in the desert;
19 Anih mah Kanaan prae thung ih acaeng taruktonawk to pazawk moe, prae to nihcae khaeah qawk ah pazet.
And, overthrowing seven nations in the land of Canaan, gave them their land as an inheritance—about four hundred and fifty years.
20 To pacoengah tahmaa Samuel dung karoek to, saning cumvai pali, pangato thung lokcaekkungnawk khaeah a paek.
And, after these things, he gave them judges, until Samuel the prophet.
21 To pacoengah nihcae mah siangpahrang to hnik o, to pongah Benjamin acaeng thung hoiah Kish capa Saul to a paek, anih mah saning quipalito thung uk.
And, from that time, they asked for themselves a king, and God gave them Saul, son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, during forty years;
22 Anih mah Saul to pahnawt pacoengah, David to nihcae ih siangpahrang ah a suek pae; David kawng pongah, Kaimah ih palung baktiah kaom, Jesse capa David to ka hnuk boeh, anih mah ni saksak han ka koeh ih hmuen to akoepsak tih, tiah a thuih.
And, setting him aside, raised up, David, unto them for king, —of whom he also said, bearing witness—I have found David, the son of Jesse, —[a man] according to my heart, who will do all my will.
23 Hae kami ih atii thung hoiah Sithaw mah Israel kaminawk khaeah lokkamhaih sak baktih toengah, Pahlongkung, Jesu to a paek:
From this man’s seed, hath God, according to promise, brought unto Israel, a saviour—Jesus:
24 anih angzo ai naah, Johan mah Israelnawk boih khaeah dawnpakhuem tuinuemhaih kawng to thuih pae.
John, beforehand proclaiming, before the face of his coming in, an immersion of repentance, unto all the people of Israel.
25 A sak ih tok pacoeng tom naah Johan mah, kai loe mi kawbaktih kami ah maw na poek o? Kai loe Anih to na ai ni. Khenah, ka hnukah angzo kami Maeto oh, kai loe Anih ih khokpanai khram pae han mataeng doeh kam cuk ai, tiah a naa.
And, as John was fulfilling his course, he was saying—Whom are ye supposing that I am? I, am not he! But lo! there cometh, after me, one of whom I am not worthy, the sandals of his feet, to loosen.
26 Nawkamyanawk, Abraham ih caa hoi nangcae thungah kaom Sithaw zii kaminawk, nangcae khaeah hae pahlonghaih lok hae patoeh boeh.
Brethren! sons of the race of Abraham, and those who among you revere God, —unto you, hath this word of salvation been sent forth.
27 Jerusalem vangpui ah kaom kaminawk hoi nihcae ukkungnawk mah, Anih to panoek o ai, Sabbath ni kruekah a kroek o ih tahmaanawk ih lok doeh thaih o kop ai, Anih zae nethaih rang hoiah tahmaanawk mah thuih o ih lok to nihcae mah akoep o sak boeh.
For, they who were dwelling in Jerusalem, and their rulers, not recognising him, have, by judging him, fulfilled, the very voices of the prophets which every sabbath are being read;
28 Nihcae loe Anih duek han khoek to zaehaih hnu o ai, toe Anih to hum hanah Pilat khaeah a hnik o.
And, though no single cause of death they found, yet claimed they of Pilate that he should be slain.
29 Tarik ih Anih thuihhaih lok boih loe nihcae mah akoep o sak boeh, thinglam hoiah a lak o moe, Anih to taprong ah aphum o.
And, when they had finished all those things which, concerning him, had been written, taking him down from the tree, they put him in a tomb.
30 Toe Sithaw mah Anih to duekhaih thung hoiah pathawk let:
But, God, raised him from among the dead:
31 Kalili hoi Jerusalem ah Anih hoi nawnto kacaeh kaminawk mah loe ni paroeai thungah Anih to hnuk o, nihcae loe kaminawk han hnukung ah oh o.
Who appeared, during many days, unto them who had come up with him from Galilee unto Jerusalem; who, indeed, [now] are his witnesses unto the people.
32 To pongah aicae ampanawk khaeah Sithaw mah paek ih lokkamhaih, kahoih tamthanglok to nangcae khaeah kang thuih o.
We, therefore, unto you, bring the good news, as to the promise which, unto our fathers, was made, —
33 Sithaw mah a caa ah kaom aicae khaeah, Jesu pathawk lethaih to akoepsak boeh; Saam Cabu hnetto pongah doeh, Nang loe Ka Capa ni, nang loe vaihniah kang tapenh, tiah tarik ih oh.
That God hath fulfilled, the same, for our children, by raising up Jesus: as also, in the second psalm, it is written—My son, art, thou: I, this day, have begotten thee.
34 Sithaw mah duekhaih thung hoiah anih pathawk let naah, vaihi kaqong thungah amlaem let mak ai boeh, tiah a thuih: David khaeah ka suek ih kacak palungnathaih lok to kang paek o han, tiah a thuih.
And, in that he raised him from among the dead, no more destined to return unto corruption, on this wise hath he spoken—I will give unto you the faithful lovingkindnesses of David.
35 Kalah Saam Cabu pongah loe, Nangmah ih kaciim kami to natuek naah doeh na qongsak mak ai, tiah thuih let bae.
Wherefore also, in a different [place], he saith—Thou wilt not give thy man of lovingkindness to see corruption.
36 Sithaw koehhaih baktiah David loe angmah ih adung thung Sithaw ih tok to sak moe, a duek; anih loe ampanawk khaeah aphum o, anih ih takpum loe amro.
For, David, indeed, unto his own generation having done service, by the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was added unto fathers, and saw corruption;
37 Toe Sithaw mah pathawk let ih kami loe amro ai.
But, he whom God hath raised, did not see corruption.
38 To pongah nawkamyanawk, hae kami rang hoiah zae tahmenhaih nangcae khaeah taphong boeh, tito panoek oh.
Be it known unto you, therefore, brethren, —that, through this man, unto you, remission of sins is declared;
39 Mosi ih kaalok hoiah toenghaih to hnu thai ai, toe anih rang hoiah loe tangcaanawk boih mah toenghaih to hnuk o.
And, from all things from which ye could not, by the law of Moses, be justified, by this man, everyone that believeth, is justified.
40 Acoe oh, to tih ai nahaeloe tahmaanawk mah thuih ih lok to nangcae nuiah phak moeng tih;
Be taking heed, therefore, lest that come upon you which hath been spoken in the prophets—
41 Khen oh, nangcae kami khet patoek kaminawk, dawnrai oh loe, anghmaa angtaa oh: na hing o thung tok ka sak, to tiah sak ih tok to kami maeto mah na thui o cadoeh na tang o thai mak ai, tiah thuih ih lok to nangcae nuiah pha o sak hmah, tiah a naa.
See, ye despisers, and marvel, and disappear: in that, a work, am, I, working in your days, —a work, which in nowise will ye believe, though one relate it in full unto you.
42 Judahnawk ih Sineko hoi tacawt o pacoengah, Gentelnawk mah to kawng to hmabang ih Sabbath niah, nihcae khae thuih let hanah tahmenhaih hnik o.
And, as they were going out, they kept on beseeching that, on the ensuing sabbath, might be spoken unto them these things.
43 Amkhuenghaih boeng pacoengah, Judahnawk hoi Judah bokhaih thungah angqoi kaminawk loe Paul hoi Barnaba hnukah bang o: nihnik mah Sithaw tahmenhaih thungah oh o poe hanah, lokthuih pae hoi.
And, when the congregation was broken up, there followed many of the Jews, and of the devout proselytes, with Paul and Barnabas; who, indeed, in speaking unto them, went on persuading them to abide in the favour of God.
44 Hmabang ih Sabbath ni phak let naah doeh, Sithaw lok to tahngaih hanah, vangpui thung ih kapop kaminawk angzoh o.
And, on the coming sabbath, almost all the city, was gathered together, to hear the word of God.
45 Toe Judahnawk mah kaminawk to hnuk o naah, uthaih palung hoiah koi o, Paul mah thuih ih loknawk to aek o moe, kasae a thuih o.
But, the Jews, seeing, the multitudes, were filled with jealousy, —and began speaking against the things which, by Paul, were being spoken, defaming them.
46 To pacoengah Paul hoi Barnabas loe misahoihaih hoiah nihcae khaeah lokthuih pae hoi, Sithaw lok loe nangcae khaeah thuih o hmaloe han oh: toe nangcae mah na pahnawt o moe, nangmacae hoi nangmacae to dungzan hinghaih hoi kamcuk ai ah na poek o pongah, khenah, kaihnik loe Gentelnawk khaeah kang qoi hoi boeh. (aiōnios g166)
And Paul and Barnabas, speaking boldly, said—Unto you, was it necessary, that the word of God should first be spoken: seeing ye are thrusting it from you, and, unworthy, are judging yourselves of the age-abiding life, lo! we turn unto the nations; (aiōnios g166)
47 Angraeng mah kaihnik khaeah hae tiah lok a thuih; long boeng khoek to pahlonghaih sin hanah, nanghnik loe Gentelnawk aanghaih ah kang ohsak boeh, tiah thuih, tiah a naa.
For so hath the Lord commanded us—I have set thee for a light of nations, that thou mayest be for salvation unto the end of the earth.
48 Gentelnawk mah to lok to thaih o naah, anghoe o moe, Angraeng ih lok to pakoeh o; dungzan hinghaih hnuk hanah pahoe ih kaminawk boih mah tang o. (aiōnios g166)
And they of the nations, hearing [this], began to rejoice, and to be glorifying God, and they believed—as many as had become disposed for life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
49 Angraeng ih lok loe to prae thung boih ah amthang.
And the word of the Lord went on to be carried through the whole country.
50 Toe Judahnawk mah Sithaw kazom kami, araengh kasang nongpatanawk hoi vangpui thung ih ukkungnawk to pacuek moe, Pawl hoi Barnabas to pacaekthlaek sak, nihnik to angmacae prae thung hoiah a haek o.
But, the Jews, urged on the devout women of the higher class, and the chief men of the city, and roused up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, —and thrust them out from their bounds.
51 To pongah nihnik mah nihcae koeh ai ih hmuen amtuengsak hanah, akhok pong ih maiphu to takhoek hoi thuih moe, Ikonium vangpui ah a caeh hoi taak.
But they, shaking off the dust of their feet against them, came into Iconium.
52 Hnukbang kaminawk loe anghoehaih hoi Kacai Muithla hoiah koi o.
And, the disciples, were filled with joy, and with Holy Spirit.
