< 2 Samuel 7 >
1 Angraeng mah a taengah kaom misanawk ih ban thung hoiah loisak pongah, siangpahrang loe monghaih to tawnh;
By now the king was comfortable in his palace and the Lord had given him peace from all the enemy nations around him.
2 siangpahrang mah tahmaa Nathan khaeah, Kai loe sidar thing hoiah sak ih im ah ka oh, Sithaw ih thingkhong loe kahni imthung ah oh sut, tiah a naa.
So he said to Nathan the prophet, “Look at me—I live in a palace made of cedar, but the Ark of God is still in a tent.”
3 Nathan mah siangpahrang khaeah, Na koeh ih hmuen to sah ah, Angraeng loe nang hoi nawnto oh, tiah a naa.
“Go ahead, do whatever you want, for the Lord is with you,” Nathan told the king.
4 To naduem ah, Angraeng ih lok to Nathan khaeah angzoh;
But that night the Lord spoke to Nathan and told him,
“Go and tell my servant David, This is what the Lord says: Should you be the one to build a house for me to live in?
For I have never lived in a house, from the time I led the Israelites out of Egypt up till now. I have always moved from place to place, living in a tent and a Tabernacle.
7 Israel kaminawk khae hoi ka caehhaih ahmuen kruek ah, Israel kaminawk pacah hanah lok ka paek ih Israel acaengnawk khaeah, Tipongah ka ohhaih im na sah o ai loe? tiah ka naa vai maw?
But in all those travels with all of Israel did I ever ask any Israelite leader I'd ordered to take care of my people, ‘Why haven't you built a cedar house for me?’
8 To pongah vaihi ka tamna David khaeah, Kaimah ih Israel kaminawk uk hanah, tuutoephaih, tuu khongkha thung hoiah nang hae ka lak boeh, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
So then, tell my servant David this is what the Lord Almighty says. It was me who took you from the fields, from looking after sheep, to become a leader of my people Israel.
9 Na caehhaih ahmuen kruekah kang oh thuih moe, na hmaa ah kaom misanawk doeh kang tuk pae boih boeh; vaihi long nuiah kaom kalen koek kaminawk ih ahmin baktih toengah, na hmin to kang lensak.
I have been with you wherever you've gone. I have destroyed all your enemies right in front of you, and I will make your reputation as great as the most famous people on earth.
10 Kaimah ih Israel kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen to ka sak pae moe, nihcae to ka thlingh han, nihcae loe angmacae ih im ah om o tih, poek angpho o mak ai; canghnii ih baktih toengah, nihcae to kasae kaminawk mah pacaekthlaek o mak ai boeh.
I will choose a place for my people Israel. I will settle them there and they won't be disturbed anymore. Evil people won't persecute them as they used to,
11 Lokcaekkungnawk kaimah ih Israel kami ukkung ah ka suek nathuem ih baktih toengah, pacaekthlaek o mak ai boeh; na misanawk thung hoiah kamongah anghakhaih to kang paek. Angraeng mah nang hanah im maeto kang sak pae han, tiah doeh ang thuih.
from the time I placed judges in charge of my people. I will defeat all of your enemies. Also I want to make it clear that I the Lord will build a house for you.
12 Nang ih aninawk loe akoep boeh, nampanawk khaeah nang hak naah, nang pacoengah na thii ngan hoiah tacawt, na caanawk to ka pathawk moe, anih ih prae to ka caksak han.
For when you come to the end of your life and join your ancestors in death, I will bring to power one of your descendants, one of your sons, and make sure his kingdom is successful.
13 Anih mah kai ih ahmin hanah im to sah tih, anih prae ukhaih angraeng tangkhang loe dungzan khoek to ka caksak han.
He will be the one to build me a house, and I will make sure his kingdom lasts forever.
14 Kai loe anih ih ampa ah ka oh han, anih loe ka capa ah om tih. Anih mah hmuen sah pazae moeng naehaeloe, anih to kaminawk ih thingboeng hoiah ka thuitaek moe, kaminawk mah boh baktiah ka boh han;
I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to me. If he does wrong, I will discipline him with the rod like people do, like a parent punishing a child.
15 toe na hmaa ah takhoe ving moe, Saul khae hoi ka lak ih baktiah, anih khae ih tahmenhaih to ka la ving mak ai.
But I will never take away my kindness and love from him, as I did in the case of Saul who I removed before you.
16 Na im hoi na ukhaih prae loe dungzan khoek to cak ueloe, na angraeng tangkhang doeh dungzan khoek to angdoe tih, tiah a naa.
Your house and your kingdom will last forever; your dynasty will be secure forever.”
17 Hae hnuksakhaih hoi loknawk baktih toengah, Nathan mah David khaeah thuih pae.
This is what Nathan explained to David—everything he was told in this divine revelation.
18 To naah David siangpahrang loe imthungah akun, Angraeng hmaa ah anghnut moe, Aw Angraeng Sithaw, kai loe mi aa? Kai ih imthung takoh loe kawbangmaw oh moe, hae tih khoek to nang tapom tahang?
Then King David went and sat down in the presence of the Lord. He prayed, “Who am I, Lord God, and what is significant about my family, that you have brought me to this place?
God, you talk as if this was a small thing in your eyes, and you also have spoken about the future of my house, my family dynasty. Is this your usual way of dealing with human beings, Lord God?
20 David mah nang khaeah timaw thui thai vop tih? Aw Angraeng Sithaw, na tamna to na panoek,
What more can I, David, tell you? You know exactly what your servant is like, Lord God.
21 na thuih ih lok hoi na koehhaih baktih toengah, na tamna panoeksak hanah, kalen parai hae hmuennawk hae na sak boeh.
You're doing all this for me and you have explained it to me, your servant, and because of your promise and because it's what you want to do.
22 Aw Angraeng Sithaw, na len parai! Nang baktih mi doeh om ai, tiah kaimacae ih naa hoiah ka thaih o baktih toengah, nang ai ah loe kalah Sithaw roe om ai.
How great you are, Lord God! There really is no-one like you; there is no other God, only you. We have never heard about anyone else.
23 Sithaw loe angmah hanah kami to pahlong moe, angmah ih ahmin amtuengsak hanah, long ah caeh tathuk, prae kalah kaminawk hoi sithawnawk to nangmah ih kaminawk hmaa hoiah na haek, to tiah kalen parai dawnraihaih to na sak pae, Izip prae thung hoiah na pahlong ih nangmah ih Israel kaminawk baktiah mi maw kaom?
Who else is as fortunate as your people Israel? Who else on earth did God go and redeem to make his own people? You gained a wonderful reputation for yourself by all the tremendous, amazing things you did in driving out other nations and their gods before your people as you redeemed them from Egypt.
You made your people Israel your own forever, and you, Lord, have become their God.
25 Vaihiah Aw, Angraeng Sithaw, na thuih ih na tamna hoi a imthung takoh to dungzan khoek to caksak poe ah; na thuih ih lok baktiah sah ah.
So now, Lord God, please ensure that what you have said about me and my house happens, and is confirmed forever. Please do as you have promised,
26 To tih nahaeloe na hmin to dungzan khoek to len poe tih; to naah kaminawk mah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng loe, Israel kaminawk ukkung ah oh! tiah thui o tih. Na tamna David imthung takoh doeh na hmaa ah cak tih.
and may your true nature be honored forever, with people declaring, ‘The Lord Almighty is Israel's God!’ May the house of your servant David continue to be there in your presence.
27 Aw misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw, na tamna khaeah, Nang han im maeto kang sak pae han, tiah nam tuengsak boeh; to pongah na tamna mah nang khaeah hae tiah lawkthuih hanah tha ka lak thaih.
Lord Almighty, God of Israel, you have revealed this to me, your servant, telling me, ‘I will build a house for you.’ That's why your servant has had the courage to pray this prayer to you.
Lord Almighty, you are God! Your words are truth, and you are the one who has promised these good things to your servant.
29 To pongah vaihi na tamna imthung takoh tahamhoihaih paek hanah, na palung anghoesak ah, na mikhnukah dungzan khoek to to tiah om poe nasoe; aw Angraeng Sithaw, na thuih tangcae lok baktih toengah, nang ih tahamhoihaih rang hoiah na tamna imthung takoh doeh dungzan khoek to tahamhoihaih hnu nasoe, tiah lawk a thuih.
So now, please bless your servant's house that it may continue in your presence forever. For you have spoken, Lord God, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.”
