< 2 Samuel 21 >

1 David siangpahrang ah oh nathung, saning thumto khokhahaih to oh; to pongah David mah Angraeng khaeah dueng. Angraeng mah, Gibeon kaminawk humkung Saul hoi kami athii palong koeh Saul pongah ni, hae hmuen hae oh, tiah a naa.
Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, [It is] for Saul, and for [his] bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
2 Siangpahrang mah Gibeon kaminawk to kawk moe, nihcae khaeah, Gibeon kaminawk loe Israel acaeng thungah athum o ai; nihcae loe Amor acaeng kanghmat kaminawk ni; Israel kaminawk mah nihcae khaeah lokkamhaih to sak o: toe Saul loe Judah hoi Israel kaminawk to angsakhaih pongah tamit boih hanah tha pathok.
And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites [were] not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
3 David mah Gibeon kaminawk khaeah, Nangcae han timaw kang sak pae han? Angraeng ih qawk to tahamhoihaih paek hanah, kawbangmaw zae loihaih ka sak han? tiah a naa.
Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?
4 Gibeon kaminawk mah anih khaeah, Kaicae loe Saul hoi anih ih imthung takoh khae hoiah, sui hoi phoisa doeh ka hni o mak ai; mi kawbaktih Israel kaminawk doeh ka hum o mak ai, tiah a naa. David mah, Na thuih o ih baktih toengah ka sak han, tiah a naa.
And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, [that] will I do for you.
5 Nihcae mah, Kaicae pacaekthlaek kami, kaicae hum moe, Israel prae thungah anghmat ai ah tamit boih han khokhan kami ih,
And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us [that] we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
6 capa nongpa sarihtonawk to kaicae khaeah na paek ah; Angraeng mah qoih ih Saul ohhaih ahmuen Gibeah vangpui ah, Angraeng hmaa ah anih to ka bangh o han, tiah a naa o. To pongah siangpahrang mah, Nihcae to nangcae ban ah kang paek han hmang, tiah a naa.
Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, [whom] the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give [them].
7 Toe David hoi Saul capa Jonathan loe, Angraeng hmaa ah maeto hoi maeto lokkamhaih sak hoi pongah, Saul capa Jonathan, Jonathan capa Mephiboseth to loe pathlung.
But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that [was] between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8 Toe siangpahrang mah, Aih canu Rizpah mah, Saul hoiah sak ih capa hnetto, Armoni hoi Mephiboseth; Meholath acaeng Barzillai capa Adriel hoiah sak ih, Saul canu Mikal ih capa pangatonawk to a lak.
But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
9 Anih mah Gebeon kaminawk ban ah paek pongah, nihcae to mae nuiah Angraeng hmaa ah bangh o; kami sarihtonawk loe duek o boih; nihcae to Barli cang aah amtonghaih ni, cang aah amtong tangsuekhaih niah hum o.
And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell [all] seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first [days], in the beginning of barley harvest.
10 Aiah canu Rizpah mah kazii to lak moe, angmah hanah thlung nuiah baih; cang aah amtong tangsuek nathuem hoi van hoiah kho angzo ai karoek to, khodai ah qok nuiah van ih tavaanawk to acuksak ai moe, khoving ah doeh moisannawk mah caak o han ai ah a toep.
And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
11 Saul ih zula, Aih canu Rizpah mah sak ih hmuen to, David khaeah thuih pae o.
And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12 Philistin kaminawk mah Saul to Gilboa mae ah hum o moe, thing nuiah anih ih qok to bangh o; siangpahrang loe Jabesh-Gilead kaminawk khaeah caeh moe, Saul ih ahuh hoi a capa Jonathan ih ahuh to lak; Beth Shan loklam ah suek o ih ahuh to tamquta hoiah a lak.
And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13 Anih mah Saul ih ahuh hoi a capa Jonathan ih ahuh to to ih ahmuen hoiah sin pacoengah, bangh ih kaminawk ih ahuhnawk hoi nawnto a suek.
And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15 Philistin kaminawk hoi Israel kaminawk salakah misatukhaih oh let bae; David loe Philistin kaminawk tuk hanah a tamnanawk hoiah caeh tathuk; to naah anih loe paroeai angpho.
Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
16 Kalen parai kami Rapha ih caa, Ish-Benob loe sumkamling shekel cumvai thumto kazit tayae hoi sumsen kangtha to sin moe, David to ka hum han, tiah poek.
And Ishbi-benob, which [was] of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear [weighed] three hundred [shekels] of brass in weight, he being girded with a new [sword], thought to have slain David.
17 Toe Zeruiah capa Abishai mah, David to abomh moe, Philistin kaminawk to hum; to pacoengah David ih kaminawk mah anih khaeah, Israel kaminawk ih hmaithaw loe dueh ving tih, tiah a poek o pongah, nang loe natuek naah doeh kaicae hoi nawnto misatuk han angzo hmah lai ah, tiah a naa o.
But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
18 To pacoengah Gob vangpui ah, Philistin kaminawk hoi misa angtukhaih oh let bae vop. To ah Hushath acaeng Sibbekai mah Rapha ih capa maeto ah kaom Saph to hum.
And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which [was] of the sons of the giant.
19 Gob ah Philistin kaminawk hoi misa angtuk o bae naah, Bethlehem ih kami Jaare-Oregim capa Elhanan mah, thangbui haa baktiah kanoe tayae kasin, Git kami Goliath ih amnawk to hum.
And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Beth-lehemite, slew [the brother of] Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear [was] like a weaver’s beam.
20 Kalah Gath vangpui ah misa angtuk naah, ban maeto pongah banpazung tarukto hoi khok maeto pongah khokpazung tarukto kaom, sangqum boih ah pumphae palito kaom, kami to oh. Anih doeh kalen parai kami ih capa ah oh.
And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of [great] stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21 Anih mah Israel kaminawk to kasae thuih pongah, David ih amnawk, Shimeah capa Jonathan mah anih to hum.
And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22 Hae ih kami palitonawk loe, Gath vangpui ah kaom, Rapha ih capa ah oh o; nihcae loe David hoi anih ih tamnanawk ban ah duek o.
These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
