< 2 Siangpahrang 6 >
1 Tahmaa ih caanawk mah Elisha khaeah, Khenah, nang hoi na ohhaih ahmuen loe kaicae han paroeai tamcaek.
And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
2 Jordan ah caeh o si loe, kami maeto boih mah thing maeto la si loe, to ah aicae ohhaih ahmuen sah o si, tiah a naa o. To pongah anih mah, Caeh o khae, tiah a naa.
Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 Nihcae thung ih kami maeto mah, Na tamnanawk hoi nawnto nang zo mak ai maw? tiah a dueng. Elisha mah, Kang zoh han, tiah a naa.
And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 To pongah nihcae hoi nawnto a caeh. Jordan vapui to a phak o naah, nihcae mah thing to pakhruk o.
So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 Nihcae thung ih kami maeto mah thing pakhruk naah, sum hoi sak ih caka to tui thungah krak pae ving; anih mah, Aw ka angraeng, ka tlai ih caka loe krak ving boeh, tiah a hangh.
But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6 Sithaw kami mah, Naa ah maw krak? tiah a naa. Anih mah krakhaih ahmuen to patuek pae, Elisha mah cung maeto boeng moe, takhawh tathuk; to naah caka loe tui nuiah angphoeng let.
And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast [it] in thither; and the iron did swim.
7 To pongah anih mah, La ah, tiah a naa. To kami mah a ban hoi tapawh moe, angmah ih caka to lak let.
Therefore said he, Take [it] up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
8 Syria siangpahrang mah Israel to tuk moe, To ih ahmuen, hae ahmuen ah ataihaih ka sak han, tiah a tamnanawk hoiah lokram o.
Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place [shall be] my camp.
9 Sithaw kami mah Israel siangpahrang khaeah kami patoeh moe, Syria kaminawk loe to ih ahmuen ah angzoh o tathuk boeh pongah, to ahmuen ah caeh o hmah, tiah acoehaih paek.
And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
10 Sithaw kami mah, acoehaih hoi oh hanah, vaito khue ai, vai hnetto thuih pae ih ahmuen ah Israel siangpahrang mah kami to patoeh.
And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 To ah kaom hmuen to Syria siangpahrang mah panoek naah palungphui; anih mah a tamnanawk to kawk moe, nihcae khaeah, Aicae thungah kaom Israel siangpahrang abomh kami to nang thui o mak ai maw? tiah a naa.
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us [is] for the king of Israel?
12 Anih ih tamna maeto mah, Aw ka angraeng siangpahrang, mi doeh ka om o ai; toe ka angraeng siangpahrang, Israel prae thungah kaom tahmaa Elisha mah ni, na taihaih ahmuen ah na thuih ih loknawk to, Israel siangpahrang khaeah thuih pae, tiah a naa.
And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that [is] in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
13 Siangpahrang mah, Caeh oh loe, anih loe naa ah maw oh, tiah pakrong oh; anih to naeh hanah kami ka patoeh han, tiah a naa. Anih loe Dothan vangpui ah ni oh, tiah a naa o.
And he said, Go and spy where he [is], that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, [he is] in Dothan.
14 Anih mah to vangpui ah hrangnawk, hrang lakoknawk hoi thacak misatuh kaminawk to patoeh; khoving ah phak o moe, vangpui to takui o.
Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15 Sithaw kami ih tamna loe khawnbang khawnthaw ah angthawk moe, tasa bang tacawt naah, hrangnawk, hrang lakoknawk hoiah vangpui takui misatuh kaminawk to a hnuk; a tamna mah anih khaeah, Aw ka angraeng, kawbangmaw a tih o han boeh? tiah a naa.
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 Tahmaa mah, Zii hmah, aicae khaeah kaom kaminawk loe nihcae khaeah kaom kaminawk pongah pop kue, tiah a naa.
And he answered, Fear not: for they that [be] with us [are] more than they that [be] with them.
17 Elisha mah, Angraeng, anih mah hnuk thai hanah mik amtuengsak ah, tiah lawkthuih. Angraeng mah thendoeng ih mik to amtuengsak; anih mah mae to khet tahang naah, hmai kangqong hrang hoi hrang lakok mah Elisha to takui o, tiah a hnuk.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
18 Syria kaminawk anih khaeah angzoh o naah, Elisha mah Angraeng khaeah, Hae kaminawk hae mikmaengsak ah, tiah lawkthuih. To tiah Elisha mah hnik ih lok baktih toengah, Anih mah nihcae to mikmaengsak.
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
19 Elisha mah nihcae khaeah, Hae loe loklam na ai, vangpui doeh na ai ni; ka hnukah bang oh, na pakrong o ih kami khaeah kang caeh o haih han, tiah a naa. Elisha mah nihcae to Samaria vangpui ah caeh haih.
And Elisha said unto them, This [is] not the way, neither [is] this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.
20 Vangpui thungah akun o pacoengah, Elisha mah nihcae khaeah, Angraeng nihcae mah hnuk o thai hanah, hae kaminawk ih mik hae amtuengsak ah, tiah lawkthuih. Angraeng mah nihcae ih mik to amtuengsak; nihcae mah khet o naah, nihcae loe Samaria vangpui thungah ni oh o, tiah panoek o.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these [men], that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, [they were] in the midst of Samaria.
21 Israel siangpahrang mah nihcae to hnuk naah, Elisha khaeah, Kam pa, nihcae hae ka hum han maw? Ka hum han maw? tiah a naa.
And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite [them]? shall I smite [them]?
22 Anih mah, Hum hmah; na naeh ih kaminawk to sumsen maw, to tih ai boeh loe palaa hoiah hum sai maw? Nihcae hmaa ah buh hoi tui to patoem paeh, a caak o moe, a naek o pacoengah, angmah ih angraeng khaeah amlaem o let nasoe, tiah a naa.
And he answered, Thou shalt not smite [them: ] wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
23 To pongah nihcae hanah buh thongh pae; nihcae mah caak o moe, naek o pacoengah, angthawk o moe, angmacae angraeng khaeah amlaem o let. To nathuem hoi kamtong Syria misatuh kaminawk Israel prae thungah angzo o ai boeh.
And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
24 To pacoengah Syria siangpahrang Ben-Hadad mah angmah ih misatuh kaminawk to pakhueng, misatuk hanah caeh o moe, Samaria vangpui to takui o.
And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.
25 Samaria vangpui thungah paroeai khokhahaih to oh; hrang lu to phoisa quitazetto hoiah zawh o moe, shekel pangato hoiah pahu aek ahmuen palito thungah ahmuen maeto zawhhaih tue phak karoek to, vangpui to takui o.
And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was [sold] for fourscore [pieces] of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five [pieces] of silver.
26 Nito naah Israel siangpahrang loe sipae nuiah amkaeh, nongpata maeto mah anih khaeah, Aw ka angraeng, siangpahrang, na bom ah, tiah a naa.
And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.
27 Siangpahrang mah, Angraeng mah na bom ai nahaeloe, kai mah kawbangmaw kang bomh thai tih? Cang atithaih ahmuen, misur thaih pasawhhaih thung hoiah maw kang bomh han? tiah a naa.
And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?
28 Siangpahrang mah nongpata khaeah, Tih raihaih maw na tawnh? tiah a naa. Nongpata mah, Hae nongpata hae kai khaeah angzoh moe, Vaihniah ka caak o hanah na capa to na paek ah, ka capa loe khawnbangah ka caak han, tiah a thuih.
And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.
29 To pongah ka caa ih angan to ka thongh o moe, ka caak o; khawnbang phak naah anih khaeah, Caak hanah na caa to na paek lai ah, tiah ka naa naah loe, anih mah a caa to hawk ving, tiah a naa.
So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.
30 Siangpahrang mah to nongpata ih lok to thaih naah, angmah ih khukbuen to asih moe, sipae nui hoiah a caeh, kaminawk mah khet o naah, athung ah angzaeng ih kazii to hnuk o.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, [he had] sackcloth within upon his flesh.
31 Siangpahrang mah, Vaihniah Shaphat capa Elisha ih lu angmah ih palaeng salakah om vop nahaeloe, Sithaw mah kai hae danpaek nasoe, kanung parai ah doeh sah nasoe, tiah a thuih.
Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
32 Elisha loe angmah im ah anghnut, kacoehtanawk doeh a taengah anghnut o toeng; siangpahrang mah a hmaa ah laicaeh to patoeh; toe laicaeh loe pha ai vop, Elisha mah kacoehtanawk khaeah, Hae ih kami humkung mah kai ih lu takroek hanah kami patoeh, tiah na panoek o ai maw? Khenah, laicaeh angzoh naah, thok khaa o thuih khoep ah loe, thok takraeng o thuih caeng ah; anih hnukah kaom atuen loe angmah angraeng ih khok tuen ah na ai maw om tih? tiah a naa.
But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and [the king] sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: [is] not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
33 Nihcae khaeah lok a thuih li naah, laicaeh loe anih khaeah angzoh tathuk; siangpahrang mah, Khenah, Hae raihaih loe Angraeng khae hoi angzo raihaih ah ni oh; tih han ih Angraeng to ka zing khing han vop loe? tiah a naa.
And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil [is] of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?
