< 2 Dungkrhoekhaih 14 >
1 Abijah loe ampanawk khaeah anghak moe, David vangpui ah aphum o; anih zuengah a capa Asa mah prae to uk. Anih dung ah saning hato thung prae monghaih to oh.
So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in David’s city; and Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days, the land was quiet ten years.
2 Asa loe angmah ih Angraeng Sithaw hmaa ah katoeng moe, kahoih hmuen to sak.
Asa did that which was good and right in Yahweh his God’s eyes,
3 Anih mah prae kalah kaminawk sithaw ih hmaicam hoi hmuensangnawk to takhoe boih; krangnawk to phraek boih moe, Asherah thingnawk to pakhruk boih.
for he took away the foreign altars and the high places, broke down the pillars, cut down the Asherah poles,
4 Judah kaminawk khaeah angmacae ampanawk ih Angraeng Sithaw to pakrong moe, anih mah paek ih lok hoi patuk ih loknawk to pazui o hanah a thuih pae.
and commanded Judah to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and to obey his law and command.
5 Judah vangpui kruek ah kaom hmuesangnawk hoi krangnawk boih to vah king; anih ukhaih tlim ah prae monghaih to oh.
Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun images; and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6 Angraeng mah monghaih paek pongah, prae thungah monghaih to oh; to nathuem ah misa angtukhaih om ai boeh pongah, Judah prae thung boih ah kacak vangpuinawk to a sak.
He built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because Yahweh had given him rest.
7 Aicae loe aimacae ih Angraeng Sithaw hoi Anih to pakrong o pongah, anih mah prae boih ah monghaih paek boeh; prae aicae ban thungah oh naah, Hae vangpuinawk hae sah o si loe, sipaenawk, misatoephaih imsangnawk, khongkhanawk hoi takraenghaihnawk to sah o si, tiah anih mah Judah kaminawk hanah thuih pae. To pongah nihcae mah imlawk to sak o moe, khosakhoihaih to oh.
For he said to Judah, “Let’s build these cities and make walls around them, with towers, gates, and bars. The land is yet before us, because we have sought Yahweh our God. We have sought him, and he has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered.
8 Asa loe Judah prae thungah misa angvaenghaih aphaw hoi tayae sin misatuh sang cumvai thumto suek; Benjamin acaeng thungah kathoeng aphaw hoi kalii sin kami sang cumvai hnet, quitazetto a suek; hae kaminawk loe misahoih kami ah oh o boih.
Asa had an army of three hundred thousand out of Judah who bore bucklers and spears, and two hundred eighty thousand out of Benjamin who bore shields and drew bows. All these were mighty men of valor.
9 Ethiopia kami Zerah loe nihcae tuk hanah kami sang cumvai hatlaito, hrangleeng cumvai thumto hoiah Mareshah karoek to angzoh o.
Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million troops and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.
10 Asa loe anih tuk hanah caeh moe, Mareshah taeng ih Zephathah azawn ah misa angtuk o.
Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11 Asa mah angmah ih Angraeng Sithaw to kawk, Angraeng, kapop parai thacak kami to tuk moe, thacak ai kami abomh hanah, nang han karai parai hmuen tidoeh om ai; Aw kaicae ih Angraeng Sithaw, kaicae hae na bom ah; kaicae loe nang khaeah ni kam ha o; hae kapop parai kaminawk hae na hmin hoiah ni tuk han ka caeh o; Aw Angraeng, nang loe kaicae ih Sithaw ah ni na oh; kami mah Nang to pazawk hmah nasoe, tiah a naa.
Asa cried to Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, Yahweh our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. Yahweh, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”
12 Angraeng mah Asa hoi Judah hmaa ah, Ethiopia kaminawk to hum pae; Ethiopia kaminawk loe cawnh o.
So Yahweh struck the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13 Asa hoi anih ih misatuh kaminawk mah nihcae to Gerar karoek to patom o; Ethiopia kaminawk to tuk pazawk o, nihcae loe angthawk o let thai ai boeh; nihcae loe Angraeng hoi Anih ih misatuh kaminawk hmaa ah duek o; Judahnawk mah misa ih hmuenmaenawk to lak pae o king.
Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. So many of the Ethiopians fell that they could not recover themselves, for they were destroyed before Yahweh and before his army. Judah’s army carried away very much booty.
14 Gerar taeng ih vangpuinawk to phraek pae o boih; Angraeng zithaih to nihcae nuiah oh pae; vangpuinawk boih phraek pae o; misatuk naah lak pae o ih hmuennawk paroeai pop.
They struck all the cities around Gerar, for the fear of Yahweh came on them. They plundered all the cities, for there was much plunder in them.
15 Moi pacahhaih ahmuennawk doeh muk pae o moe, tuunawk hoi kaengkuu hrangnawk doeh hoih pae o ving. To pacoeng ah Jerusalem ah amlaem o.
They also struck the tents of those who had livestock, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, then returned to Jerusalem.
