1 Rehoboam mah ukhaih prae to caksak moe, thacak naah, anih hoi Israel kaminawk boih mah Angraeng ih kaalok to pahnawt o.
And it came to pass, when Rehobo'am had established the kingdom, and when he had become strong, that he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.
2 Anih loe Angraeng hmaa ah zaehaih sak pongah, Rehoboam siangpahrang ah ohhaih saning tarukto naah, anih to Izip siangpahrang Shishak mah tuk,
And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehobo'am, that Shishak the king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, —because they had acted faithlessly against the Lord, —
3 hrangleeng sang cumvai hnet, hrang hoi misatuh kami sing tarukto hoi kroek laek ai Izip kami, Lubbin kami, Sukkim hoi Ethiopia kaminawk to angzoh o.
With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen: and innumerable were the people that came with him out of Egypt—the Lubim, the Sukkiyim, and the Ethiopians.
4 Anih mah Judah prae ih kacak vangpuinawk to lak pacoengah, Jerusalem ah angzoh.
And he captured the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and he came as far as Jerusalem.
5 Shishak siangpahrang pongah, tahmaa Shemaiah loe Jerusalem ah amkhueng Rehoboam hoi Judah zaehoikungnawk khaeah caeh moe, nihcae khaeah, Angraeng mah, Kai nang pahnawt o pongah, nangcae doeh Shishak ban ah kang pahnawt o toeng boeh, tiah thuih, tiah a naa.
And Shem'ayah the prophet came to Rehobo'am, and the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus hath said the Lord, Ye have indeed forsaken me, and therefore have I also relinquished you into the hand of Shishak.
6 Israel zaehoikungnawk hoi siangpahrang loe poekhaih pahnaem o moe, Angraeng loe toeng, tiah thuih o.
Thereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteous.
7 Poek pahnaemhaih tawnh o, tiah Angraeng mah hnuk naah, Angraeng ih lok Shemaiah khaeah angzoh; nihcae mah poekhaih pahnaem o pongah, nihcae to kam rosak mak ai; loihaih to ka paek han; Shishak ih ban hoi Jerusalem nuiah palungphuihaih ka krai mak ai.
And when the Lord saw that they had humbled themselves, then came the word of the Lord to Shem'ayah, saying, “They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them; but I will permit some little to escape from them; and my wrath shall not be poured out over Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.”
8 Toe nihcae to Shishak siangpahrang ih tamna ah ka paek han; to tiah ni ka toksakhaih hoi minawk kalah siangpahrang ih toksakhaih to pathlaeng o thai tih, tiah a naa.
However they shall be servants unto him, and they shall know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the [various] countries.
9 Izip siangpahrang Shishak loe Jerusalem to tuk moe, Angraeng ih im hoi siangpahrang im ih hmuennawk to lak boih; Solomon mah sui hoiah sak ih misa angvaenghaih aphawnawk to a lak pae.
And so came up Shishak the king of Egypt against Jerusalem, and he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house: every thing did he take away; and he took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10 To ih sui aphaw zuengah Rehoboam siangpahrang mah sumkamling hoiah aphaw to sak moe, siangpahrang im ih kalen koek khongkha toep kami khaeah paek.
And king Rehobo'am made in their stead shields of copper, and committed them for keeping into the hand of the chiefs of the runners, who kept guard at the door of the king's house.
11 Siangpahrang mah Angraeng ih im thungah akun naah, misatoep kaminawk mah aphaw to lak o moe, misatoep kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen ah suek o let.
And it happened whenever the king went into the house of the Lord, that the runners came and bore them, and carried them back into the apartment of the runners.
12 Rehoboam mah poek pahnaem naah, Angraeng palungphuihaih to dip let, anih to amrosak ai; Judah prae thungah doeh khosak hoihaih to oh.
And when he had humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, so that he destroyed him not to make an end [of him]: and also in Judah were some good things [found].
13 Rehoboam siangpahrang loe Judah ah kacakah khosak moe, siangpahrang ah oh poe; Rehoboam siangpahrang ah oh tangsuek naah saning quipalito oh boeh; Angraeng angmah ih ahmin oh hanah, Israel acaengnawk boih thung hoiah, Angraeng mah qoih ih Jerusalem ah, saning hatlai sarihto thung siangpahrang ah oh.
And king Rehobo'am strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehobo'am was one and forty years old when he became king, and seventeen years did he reign in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Na'amah the 'Ammonitess.
14 Palungthin hoiah Angraeng to pakrong ai pongah, kasae hmuen to a sak.
And he did the evil; because he directed not his heart to seek the Lord.
15 Rehoboam mah sak ih hmuennawk boih loe, amtong tangsuek hoi boeng khoek to, tahmaa Shemaiah ih cabu, tahmaa Iddo ih acaeng anghumhaih kawng pakuemhaih cabu thungah tarik o na ai maw? Rehoboam hoi Jeroboam loe hing thung misa ah oh hoi poe.
And the acts of Rehobo'am, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the history of Shem'ayah the prophet, and of 'Iddo, the seer concerning the genealogies. And the wars of Rehobo'am and Jerobo'am [lasted] all the days.
16 Rehoboam loe ampanawk khaeah anghak moe, David vangpui ah aphum o. Anih zuengah a capa Abijah mah prae to uk.
And Rehobo'am slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abiyah his son became king in his stead.
