< 1 Timote 5 >
1 Mitong to zoeh hmah, ampa baktiah poek ah; thendoengnawk to nawkamyanawk baktiah poek ah;
Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;
2 kaciim poekhaih hoiah nongpata mitongnawk to amno baktiah poek ah; tanglanawk loe tanuh tang baktiah poek ah.
the older women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.
3 Tangtang lamhmainawk to abom oh.
Honor widows who are widows indeed.
4 Toe kawbaktih lamhmai mah doeh caa a tawnh, to tih ai boeh loe a caa ih caa patoeng to tawn nahaeloe, am no hoi ampa khetzawn let hanah, im ah tahmenhaih amtueng o sak hmaloe nasoe, to tiah sakhaih loe Sithaw mah tapom thai koi kahoih hmuen ah oh.
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
5 Angmah bueng kaom lamhmai tangtang loe, Sithaw khaeah amha moe, aqum athun lawkthuihaih hoiah tahmenhaih a hnik.
Now she who is a widow indeed, and desolate, has her hope set on God, and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.
6 Toe taksa koehhaih baktiah khosah lamhmai loe a hing e, kadueh kami ah ni oh.
But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.
7 Nihcae mah coek koi kaom ai ah khosak o thai hanah, hae loknawk hae thui ah.
Also command these things, so that they will be without fault.
8 Angmah ih nawkamya khetzawn koeh ai kami, angmah ih imthong doeh khenzawn ai kami loe, tanghaih caehtaak kami ah oh, anih loe tang ai kami pongah nung kue.
But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 Lamhmai loe saning quitaruk to akoep ai nahaeloe, lamhmai cabu thungah pakun o hmah, anih loe sava maeto khue tawnh moe,
Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,
10 kahoih hmuen sakhaih bangah ahmin kaom kami; a caanawk khenzawn thai kami, angvinnawk khenzawn thai kami, kaciim kaminawk ih khok pasae pae kami, amtang kaminawk khenzawn thai kami, kahoih toknawk boih thahmaehaih hoiah sah kami ah oh han angaih.
being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the kadoshim' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.
11 Saning kanawk lamhmainawk loe cazin thungah akunsak hmah: tipongah tih nahaeloe nihcae loe taksa koehhaih mah pazawk pongah, Kri mah patuk ih lok to tahngai o ai, sava sak han a koeh o;
But refuse younger widows, for whenever their passions lead them away from Messiah, they desire to marry;
12 tanghaih tangsuek to a pahnawt o ving pongah, lokcaekhaih thungah akun o.
having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.
13 To khue ai thaset o moe, im maeto pacoeng maeto ah a caeh o; thaset khue ai ah, lokprong lok to a thuih o moe, tok kong o ai, a thuih o han ai koi hmuennawk to a thuih o.
Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.
14 To pongah saning kanawk lamhmainawk loe sava sah o nasoe loe, caa sah o nasoe, imthung ah khokhan o nasoe, kasae thuihaih atue karaem to misa khaeah a paek o han ai ah tok a sak o to ka koeh haih.
I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for reviling.
15 Thoemto kaminawk loe lam amkhraeng o moe, Setan hnukah bang o boeh.
For already some have turned aside after Satan.
16 Tanghaih tawn kami nongpa maw, to tih ai boeh loe nongpata im ah lamhmai to om nahaeloe, kricaabu raihaih paek han ai ah, anih mah to lamhmai to kahoih ah khenzawn nasoe; to tiah ni khenzawnkung tawn ai lamhmai tangtangnawk to kricaabu mah khen thai tih.
If any believing woman has widows, she must assist them, and do not let the congregation be burdened; that it might help those widows who are truly in need.
17 Lokpui koekah tamthanglok thuihaih hoi patukhaih bangah tha pathok, Kricaabu khetzawn kop kacoehtanawk loe, alet hnetto pakoehhaih hnuk han krak.
Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.
18 Cabu mah, Cang atii maitaw ih tahmawh to moem pae hmah, tiah thuih. Toksah kami loe sakhaih atho hnuk han krak, tiah thuih.
For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain." And, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."
19 Hnukung hnetto maw, thumto maw om ai ah loe, kricaa zaehoikung kacoehta zae nethaih to tapom o hmah.
Do not receive an accusation against an elder, except at the word of two or three witnesses.
20 Hmuen sahpazae kami to kaminawk boih hma ah thuitaek ah, to tiah ni kalah kaminawk mah doeh zii o tih.
Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.
21 Maeto hoi maeto mikhmai khethaih kaom ai, pathlaenghaih palungthin tawn ai ah hae loknawk na pazui thai hanah, Sithaw, Angraeng Jesu Kri hoi qoih ih van kaminawk hmaa ah kang thaisak.
I command you in the sight of God, and Messiah Yeshua, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.
22 Mi kawbaktih nuiah doeh ban to karangah koeng hmah, minawk zaehaih thungah doeh athum hmah: nangmah hoi nangmah to ciimcai ah khosah ah.
Do not ordain anyone hastily, nor participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
23 Zok hoih ai moe, ngantui ai ah na oh toepsoep pongah, tui khue nae ai ah, misurtui zetta patoh ah.
Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.
24 Thoemto kaminawk ih zaehaih loe amtueng lawngkawng, to pongah lokcaekhaih to tong o roep; thoemto kaminawk ih zaehaih loe amzaita hoiah ni amtueng.
The sins of some people are obvious, going before them to judgment, but those of others show up later.
25 To baktih toengah thoemto kaminawk mah sak ih kahoih hmuen doeh amtueng roep; kamtueng roep ai zaehaihnawk doeh anghawk thai mak ai.
In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
