1 Philistinnawk mah Israel kaminawk to tuk o; Philistinnawk mah Israel kaminawk to pazawk, to pongah Israel kaminawk loe nihcae hmaa hoiah cawnh o; Gilboa mae ah kami paroeai duek o.
Now the Philistines were fighting against Israel: and the men of Israel went in flight before the Philistines, falling down wounded in Mount Gilboa.
2 Philsitinnawk mah Saul hoi a caanawk to patom o poe moe, a capanawk, Jonathan, Abinadab hoi Malkishua to hum o.
And the Philistines overtook Saul and his sons; and they put to death Jonathan and Abinadab and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul.
3 Saul hoi misa angtukhaih to nung aep aep; kalii sin misanawk mah Saul to kah o moe, ahmaa caak o sak.
And the fight was going badly for Saul, and the archers came across him, and he was wounded by the archers.
4 To naah Saul mah angmah ih kalii sinkung khaeah, Na sumsen to aphongh loe na thun ah; to tih ai nahaeloe hae tangyat hin aat ai kaminawk mah na thun o ueloe, na pacaekthlaek o tih, tiah a naa. Toe angmah ih kalii phawkung mah paroeai zit pongah, thun han koeh ai; to pongah Saul loe angmah ih sumsen to lak moe, sumsen pongah angkhawh puet.
Then Saul said to the servant who had the care of his arms, Take out your sword and put it through me, before these men without circumcision come and make sport of me. But his servant, full of fear, would not do so. Then Saul took out his sword, and falling on it, put an end to himself.
5 Angmah ih kalii phawkung mah Saul duek boeh, tiah panoek naah, angmah ih sumsen hoiah angthunh moe, anih hoi nawnto duek toeng.
And when his servant saw that Saul was dead, he did the same, and was united with him in death.
6 To pongah Saul loe to na niah a capa thumto, angmah ih kalii phawkung, angmah ih kaminawk hoi nawnto duek o boih.
So death overtook Saul and his three sons and his servant on the same day.
7 Azawn taengah kaom, Jordan vapui yaeh ah kaom Israelnawk mah, Israel misatuh kaminawk loe cawnh o boeh moe, Saul hoi a capanawk doeh duek o boih boeh, tiah a hnuk o naah, vangpuinawk to cawnh o taak. To naah Philistinnawk angzoh o moe, vangpui thungah oh o.
And when the men of Israel across the valley and on the other side of Jordan saw that the army of Israel was in flight and that Saul and his sons were dead, they came out of their towns and went in flight; and the Philistines came and took them for themselves.
8 Khawnbang phak naah, Philistinnawk loe kadueh kaminawk ih khukbuen lak hanah, Gilboa mae nuiah caeh o; to naah Saul hoi nawnto kadueh a caa thumto a hnuk o.
Now on the day after, when the Philistines came to take their goods from the dead, they saw Saul and his three sons dead on the earth in Mount Gilboa.
9 Anih ih lu to takroek o pat moe, khukbuen to a khringh pae o, Philistin prae thung boih, krang suekhaih angmacae ih tempul hoi kaminawk boih khaeah laicaeh patoeh o moe, tamthang to thuih pae o.
And cutting off his head and taking away his war-dress, they sent word into the land of the Philistines round about, to take the news to their gods and to the people.
10 Anih ih khukbuen to Ashtoreth im ah suek o moe, a tak pum to Beth-Shan tapang pongah bangh o.
His war-dress they put in the house of Astarte; and his body was fixed on the wall of Beth-shan.
11 Philistinnawk mah Saul nuiah to tiah sak o boeh, tiah Gilead prae Jabesh vangpui ah kaom kaminawk mah thaih o naah,
And when the people of Jabesh-gilead had news of what the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 misahoih kaminawk boih angthawk o moe, aqum puek caeh o pacoengah, Beth-Shan tapang pong ih Saul hoi a caanawk ih qok to lak o; Jabesh vangpui ah sinh o moe, to ah hmai hoiah qoeng o.
All the fighting men got up and, travelling all night, took Saul's body and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan; and they came to Jabesh and had them burned there.
13 Nihcae ih ahuh to lak o moe, Jabesh vangpui ih hmaica thing tlim ah aphum o pacoengah, ni sarihto thung buhzah o.
And their bones they put in the earth under a tree in Jabesh; and for seven days they took no food.
