< 1 Samuel 3 >
1 Nawkta Samuel loe Eli hmaa ah Angraeng ih tok to sak; to nathuem ah Angraeng mah kami khaeah thuih ih lok to om ai; kamtueng ah hmuen hnuksakhaih doeh om ai.
The child Samuel ministered to the LORD before Eli. The word of the LORD was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision.
2 To nathuem ah Eli loe a iihhaih hmuen ah angsong, to naah mik thazok sut moe, mik amtueng ai pongah, tidoeh hnu thai ai.
It happened at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see),
3 Sithaw ih thingkhong ohhaih, Angraeng ih tempul ah Sithaw ih hmai-im to dueh ai vop, Samuel loe iih hanah angsong kawk boeh;
and the lamp of God hadn't yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the LORD's temple, where the ark of God was;
4 to naah Angraeng mah Samuel to kawk; Samuel mah, Hae ah ka oh, tiah a naa.
that the LORD called, "Samuel. Samuel." And he said, "Here I am."
5 Anih loe Eli khaeah, Nang kawk pongah, kang zoh, tiah a naa. Toe Eli mah, Kang kawk ai bae; caeh loe iip ah, tiah a naa. To pongah anih loe caeh moe, angsong let.
He ran to Eli, and said, "Here I am; for you called me." He said, "I did not call; lie down again." He went and lay down.
6 Angraeng mah, Samuel, tiah kawk let bae. Samuel loe angthawk moe, Eli khaeah, Nang kawk pongah, kang zoh, tiah a naa. Eli mah, Ka capa, kang kawk ai; caeh loe iip lai ah, tiah a naa.
The LORD called yet again, "Samuel. Samuel." And he got up and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am; for you called me." He answered, "I did not call, my son; lie down again."
7 Angraeng ih lok anih khaeah angphong pae ai vop pongah, Samuel mah Angraeng ni, tiah panoek ai vop.
Now Samuel did not yet know God, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed to him.
8 Vai thumto haih ah Angraeng mah Samuel to kawk let bae; to naah Samuel loe angthawk moe, Eli khaeah caeh, Nang kawk pongah, kang zoh, tiah a naa let bae.
Then the LORD called Samuel again the third time, and he got up and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD had called the child.
9 To pongah Eli mah Samuel khaeah, Caeh loe, iip lai ah; na kawk let nahaeloe, Angraeng, Lok na thui ah; na tamna mah tahngaih, tiah thui ah, tiah a naa. To pongah Samuel loe caeh moe, angmah ih ahmuen ah angsong let.
So he said, "Go, lie down, and if he calls you, reply, 'Speak, for your servant is listening.'" Then Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 Angraeng loe angzoh moe, to ah angdoet pacoengah, canghni ih baktih toengah, Samuel, Samuel, tiah kawk. To naah Samuel mah, Lok na thui ah, na tamna mah tahngaih, tiah a naa.
And the LORD came and stood, and called as at other times. Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."
11 To naah Angraeng mah Samuel khaeah, Khenah, tamthang thaih kaminawk boih, naa to taphruemsak hanah, Israel kaminawk salakah hmuen maeto ka sak han.
The LORD said to Samuel, "Look, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.
12 To naah ka thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Eli imthung takoh nuiah hmuennawk to ka sak han; sak kam tong baktih toengah, boeng khoek to ka sak han.
In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even to the end.
13 A capa hnik mah panuet thok hmuen a sak hoi, tiah Eli mah panoek, toe sak han ai ah pakaa ai pongah, a imthung takoh nuiah dungzan khoek to lok ka caek han, tiah ka thuih boeh.
For I have told him that I will judge his house forever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons were cursing God, and he did not restrain them.
14 To pongah Eli imthung takoh mah sak ih zaehaih loe, angbawnhaih hoi hmuen paekhaih mah dungzan khoek to ciimsak mak ai boeh, tiah a naa.
Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be removed with sacrifice nor offering forever."
15 Samuel loe akhawnbang khoek to angsong moe, Angraeng im ih thoknawk to paongh. Samuel mah a hnuk ih hmuen kawng to Eli khaeah thuih han zit.
And Samuel lay there until the morning, and in the morning he got up and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel was afraid to tell Eli the vision.
16 Toe Eli mah Samuel khaeah, Ka capa, Samuel, tiah a naa. Samuel mah, Hae ah ka oh, tiah pathim pae.
Then Eli said to Samuel, "Samuel, my son." And he replied, "Here I am."
17 Anih khaeah, Angraeng mah nang khaeah tih lok maw ang thuih? tiah a dueng. Kai khaeah angphat hmah, nang khaeah ang thuih ih loknawk boih to nang phat nahaeloe, Sithaw mah dan na paek tih; kanung aep ah dan na paek tih, tiah a naa.
He said, "What is the thing that he has spoken to you? Please do not hide it from me. May God do thus to you if you hide anything from me of all the words that he spoke to you in your ears."
18 To pongah kaom hmuen kawng to Samuel mah angphat ai ah thuih pae boih. To naah Eli mah, Anih loe Angraeng ni. A mikhnukah kahoih hmuen to sah nasoe, tiah thuih.
And Samuel told him everything, and did not hide anything from him. And he said, "It is the LORD. Let him do what seems good to him."
19 Samuel loe qoeng tahang, Angraeng mah anih to oh thuih; amro hanah a lok maeto doeh long ah krahsak ai.
So Samuel continued to grow, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fail.
20 Samuel loe Angraeng ih tahmaa ah om tih, tiah Dan hoi Beersheba vangpui khoek to kaom Israel kaminawk boih mah panoek o.
Thus all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of the LORD.
21 Angraeng mah Shiloh ah angphong thuih let; Shiloh vangpui ah Angraeng mah Samuel khaeah Angraeng ih lok hoiah angphong thui let.
And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh, for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel.
