< 1 Samuel 26 >
1 Ziph kaminawk loe Saul ohhaih ahmuen Gibeah ah caeh o moe, David loe Jeshimon vangpui hmaa ih Hakilah mae ah anghawk ai maw? tiah a naa o.
And the Ziphites came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, facing the waste?
2 To pongah David to Ziph praezaek ah pakrong hanah, Israel kaminawk thung hoi qoih ih kami sang thumtonawk loe Saul hoi nawnto caeh o.
And Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
3 Saul loe Jeshimon vangpui hmaa ah kaom, Hakilah mae caehhaih loklam taengah atai o. Toe David loe praezaek ah oh; Saul mah anih patom, tiah David mah panoek.
And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which faces the waste, by the way side. And David abode in the wilderness; and when he saw that Saul had come after him into the wilderness,
4 Saul angzoh tangtang boeh, tiah panoek naah, David mah tamquta hoi misa khen kami to patoeh.
David sent out spies, and learned that Saul was certainly come.
5 David loe angthawk moe, Saul ataihaih ahmuen ah caeh; Saul hoi Ner capa, misatuh angraeng Abner ohhhaih ahmuen to khet naah, Saul loe ataihaih ahmuen um li ah iih, misatuh kaminawk mah anih to takui o khoep.
And David arose and came to the place where Saul had encamped; and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host; and Saul lay within the wagon-defence, and the people were encamped round about him.
6 David mah Hit kami Ahimelek hoi Joab ih amnawk, Zeruiah capa Abishai khaeah, Mi maw kai hoi nawnto Saul ataihaih ahmuen ah caeh han? tiah a naa. To naah Abishai mah kai kang zoh han, tiah a naa.
And David spake and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.
7 To pongah David hoi Abishai loe khoving ah kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh hoi; khenah, Saul loe ataihaih ahmuen um li ah angsong moe, angmah ih tayae to a lu taeng ih long ah a tling; Abner hoi misatuh kaminawk mah anih to takui moe, iih o.
And David and Abishai came to the people by night, and behold, Saul lay sleeping within the wagon-defence, and his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the people lay round about him.
8 Abishai mah David khaeah, Vaihniah Angraeng mah na misa to na ban ah paek boeh. To pongah anih to vai hnetto takhawh let angai ai ah, kai mah vaito ah long ah takhawh ue, tiah a naa.
And Abishai said to David, God has delivered thine enemy into thy hand this day; and now let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear, even to the ground once, and I will not do it the second time.
9 Toe David mah Abishai khaeah, Hum hmah; Angraeng mah moithawk nok ih kami loe zaehaih om ai ah mi mah maw ban phok thai tih?
And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not; for who can stretch forth his hand against Jehovah's anointed, and be guiltless?
10 David mah, Angraeng hing baktih toengah, Angraeng angmah anih to hum tih, to tih ai boeh loe angmah ih atue phak naah dueh tih, to tih ai boeh loe misatuk naah anghmaa angtaa tih.
And David said, [As] Jehovah liveth, Jehovah will surely smite him; either his day shall come to die, or he shall descend into battle and perish.
11 Toe Angraeng mah situi bawh ih kami nuiah ban phok han Angraeng mah pakaa. A lu taeng ih tayae hoi tui tabu to mah la pae ving si loe, amlaem si, tiah a naa.
Jehovah forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed! But now take, I pray thee, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
12 To pongah David mah Saul lu taeng ih tayae hoi tui tabu to lak moe, caeh hoi ving; mi mah doeh hnu ai, mi mah doeh panoek ai; Angraeng mah iih mueksak pongah, nihcae loe iih o boih, mi doeh anglawt o ai.
And David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's head; and they went away, and no man saw [it], and none knew [it], and none awaked, for they were all asleep; for a deep sleep from Jehovah had fallen upon them.
13 To naah David loe nihnik salak hoi kangthla kue ahmuen, mae laep bangah caeh moe, maesom nuiah angdoet.
And David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of a hill afar off; a great space [being] between them.
14 David mah kaminawk hoi Ner capa Abner to hang thuih; Abner, ka lok hae nang pathim mak ai maw? tiah a naa. Abner mah, Siangpahrang hang thuih kami loe mi aa? tiah a naa.
And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?
15 David mah, Nang loe misahoih kami maeto ah na oh na ai maw? Nang baktiah mi maw Israel thungah kaom? Tipongah na siangpahrang to na toep ai loe? Na angraeng siangpahrang to hum hanah kami maeto angzoh boeh.
And David said to Abner, Art not thou a man? and who is like to thee in Israel? and why hast thou not guarded thy lord the king? for one of the people came in to destroy the king thy lord.
16 Na sak ih hmuen loe hoih ai. Angraeng loe hing baktih toengah, Angraeng mah situi hoi bawh ih na angraeng to kahoih ah na toep ai pongah, na duek han oh. Khenah, siangpahrang lu taeng ih tayae hoi tui tabu loe naa ah maw oh ving boeh? tiah a naa.
This thing is not good which thou hast done. As Jehovah liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not guarded your master, Jehovah's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head.
17 Saul mah David ih lok to panoek naah, To lok loe, ka capa David ih lok maw? tiah a naa. David mah, Aw ka angraeng, siangpahrang, kai ih lok ni, tiah a naa.
And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.
18 To pacoengah anih mah, Tipongah ka angraeng mah na tamna to patom khing loe? Timaw ka sak, ka ban mah tih sethaih maw sak?
And he said, Why does my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand?
19 Ka angraeng siangpahrang, vaihi na tamna ih lok hae tahngai ah. Kai naeh hanah Angraeng mah na pahruek nahaeloe, a paek ih hmuen to talawk nasoe, toe kaminawk mah pahruek nahaeloe, Angraeng hmaa ah kasae tongh nasoe; nihcae mah, Caeh ah loe, kalah sithawnawk to bok ah, tiah ang naa o, vaihniah Angraeng qawktoephaih ahmuen thung hoiah nang to ang haek o boeh.
And now, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If Jehovah have moved thee against me, let him accept an oblation; but if the sons of men, cursed be they before Jehovah; for they have driven me out this day from adhering to the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, Go, serve other gods.
20 To pongah Angraeng hmaa ah ka thii hae long ah krahsak hmah; kami mah mae nuiah tarik amee baktih toengah, Israel siangpahrang mah uithlinawk to amee toeng, tiah a naa.
And now, let not my blood fall to the earth far from the face of Jehovah; for the king of Israel is come out to seek a single flea, as when they hunt a partridge on the mountains.
21 To naah Saul mah, Ka zae boeh; ka capa David amlaem lai ah; vaihniah ka hinghaih atho kaom ah nang suek pongah, nang hae kang hum mak ai boeh; kai loe kamthu baktiah tok ka sak moe, paroeai ka zae boeh, tiah a naa.
And Saul said, I have sinned: return, my son David; for I will no more do thee harm, because my life was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have acted foolishly, and have erred exceedingly.
22 David mah, Siangpahrang ih tayae loe hae ah oh, nangmah ih kami thendoeng maeto angzo nasoe loe, la nasoe.
And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear, and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.
23 Angraeng mah kaminawk boih khaeah, angmah ih toenghaih hoi a oepthohhaih tangqum to paek; Angraeng mah vaihniah nang hae ka ban ah paek boeh; toe Angraeng mah situi bawh ih kami khaeah ban ka phok mak ai.
And Jehovah will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; for Jehovah gave thee into [my] hand this day, and I would not stretch forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed.
24 Khenah, Vaihniah na hinghaih atho kang ohsak baktih toengah, Angraeng mah doeh ka hinghaih hae atho omsak toeng nasoe loe, raihaih thung hoi ka na pahlong nasoe, tiah a naa.
And behold, as thy life was highly esteemed this day in mine eyes, so let my life be highly esteemed in the eyes of Jehovah, that he may deliver me out of all distress.
25 To naah Saul mah, David khaeah, Ka capa David, tahamhoihaih om nasoe; na sak ih hmuen boih nuiah lensawkhaih hoi akoep nasoe loe, pazawkhaih tawn nasoe, tiah a naa. To pongah David loe angmah ih loklam ah caeh, Saul doeh angmah im ah amlaem let.
And Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt certainly do [great things], and shalt certainly prevail. And David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
