< 1 Samuel 22 >

1 David loe Gath hoiah caeh moe, loih pacoengah Adullam thlungkhaw ah phak; to tamthang to angmah ih nawkamyanawk hoi ampa ih imthung takohnawk boih mah thaih o naah, anih ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh o.
And David departed thence, and escaped to the cave 'Adullam: and when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down to him thither.
2 Palungboeng kaminawk, laiba tawn kaminawk hoi poeknawm thai ai kaminawk boih, anih khaeah nawnto amkhueng o; David loe nihcae zaehoikung ah oh; anih hoi nawnto kaom kami cumvai palito oh o.
And there gathered themselves unto him every one that was in distress, and every one that had a creditor, and every one that had an embittered spirit; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
3 David loe to ahmuen hoiah Moab prae thung ih Mizpah vangpui ah caeh moe, Moab siangpahrang khaeah, Sithaw mah kai han timaw na sah pae tih, tiah panoek ai karoek to, kamno hoi kampa angzo hoi nasoe loe, nang khaeah om raeh nasoe, tiah tahmenhaih a hnik.
And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, go forth with you, until I can know what God will do for me.
4 To pongah David misa anghawkhaih thlungkhaw thungah oh nathung, anih ih amno hoi ampanawk loe Moab siangpahrang khaeah oh o.
And he conducted them to the presence of the king of Moab: and they remained with him all the time that David was in the strong-hold.
5 Toe tahmaa Gad mah David khaeah, Thlungkhaw thungah om hmah, Judah prae thungah cae ah, tiah a thuih pae. To pongah David loe caeh moe, Hareth taw thungah oh.
And the prophet Gad said unto David, Thou must not remain in the strong-hold: depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Chereth.
6 (Saul loe angmah ih tayae to Gibeah vangpui mae nuiah sinh, a tamnanawk mah anih to takui o moe, hmaica thing tahlip ah nawnto anghnut o naah, ) David hoi angmah ih kaminawk angqum o boeh, tiah Saul mah thaih;
And Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, [now Saul was sitting in Gib'ah under the tamarisk on the hill, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him; ]
7 Saul mah a taengah kangdoe tamnanawk khaeah, Benjamin kaminawk, tahngai oh! Jesse capa mah nangcae hanah lawk hoi misur takha to na paek o ueloe, misatuh kami sangto ukkung angraeng hoi misatuh kami cumvaito ukkung angraeng ah na suem o tang tih maw?
Then said Saul unto his servants that stood about him, Hear, I pray you, men of Benjamin! will the son of Jesse give, indeed, to every one of you fields and vineyards? will he appoint you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds?
8 Nangcae boih mah ka nuiah kasae sak hanah nang pacaeng o, ka capa loe Jesse capa hoiah lokkamhaih sak, tiah mi mah doeh nang thui o ai; mi mah doeh kai palung nang sae o haih ai; ka tamna mah vaihniah sak ih baktih toengah, ka capa mah kai to angang moe, hum hanah, ka tamnanawk pahruek ih hmuen kawng doeh nang thui o ai, tiah a naa.
That ye have conspired, all of you, against me, and there is none that informeth me, while my son hath made a covenant with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is concerned for me, or informeth me that my son hath stirred up my servant to lie in wait against me, as it is this day?
9 To paceongah Saul ih tamnanawk thung ih Edom kami maeto ah kaom, Dog mah Jesse capa loe Nob vangpui ah kaom, Ahitub capa Ahimelek khaeah angzoh naah ka hnuk.
Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Achimelech the son of Achitub.
10 Ahimelek mah anih hanah Angraeng khaeah lokdueng pae; caaknaek doeh a paek moe, Philistin kami Goliath ih sumsen doeh a paek, tiah a thuih pae.
And he asked counsel for him of the Lord, and he gave him provision, and gave him also the sword of Goliath the philistine.
11 To pongah siangpahrang mah kami to patoeh moe, Ahitub capa qaima Ahimelek hoi ampa imthung takoh boih, Nob vangpui ih qaimanawk to kawksak boih; nihcae boih siangpahrang khaeah angzoh o.
Then sent the king to call Achimelech, the son of Achitub, the priest, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came, all of them, to the king.
12 Saul mah, Ahitub capa vaihi lok tahngai ah, tiah a naa. Anih mah, Ka angraeng, hae ah ka oh, tiah a naa.
And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Achitub. And he said, here am I, my Lord.
13 Saul mah anih khaeah, Tipongah Jesse capa hoiah kai tuk hanah nam sak hoi moe, vaihniah a sak ih baktih toengah, kai tuk hanah anih to takaw hoi sumsen na paek pacoengah, Sithaw khaeah lok na dueng pae loe? tiah a naa.
And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou didst give him bread, and a sword, and hast asked counsel for him of God, that he should rise to lie in wait against me, as it is this day!
14 Ahimelek mah siangpahrang khaeah, Siangpahrang canu ih sava, na toksah kami, na imthung takoh ah khingya koi kaom, David baktih oepthok mi maw na tamnanawk thungah kaom?
Then answered Achimelech the king, and said, And who is among all thy servants so trusted as David, and the king's son-in-law, and freely admitted to thy private council, and is honored in thy house?
15 To na niah maw anih han Sithaw khaeah lok ka dueng pae tangsuek? To tih na ai ni; siangpahrang mah a tamna hoi ampa imtung takoh nuiah zaehaih net hmah nasoe, hae hmuen kawng pongah na tamna mah panoekhaih tidoeh om ai, tiah a naa.
Did I this day then begin to ask counsel for him of God? far be it from me; let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, [nor] to all the house of my father; for thy servant knew not of all this, either a little or great thing.
16 Toe siangpahrang mah, Ahimelek, nangmah hoi nam pa imthung takoh boih, na duek o han oh, tiah a naa.
And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Achimelech, thou, and all thy father's house.
17 Angraeng ih qaimanawk loe David khaeah athum o, anih loe cawnh ving boeh, tiah panoek o, toe kai na thai o sak ai pongah, Angqoi oh loe, nihcae to hum oh, tiah siangpahrang mah angmah khaeah kaom khok hoi misatuh kaminawk khaeah a thuih pae. Toe siangpahrang ih tamnanawk mah Angraeng ih qaimanawk hum hanih ban phok han koeh o ai.
And the king said unto the runners that stood about him, Turn round and slay the priests of the Lord; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he was fleeing, and did not disclose it to me. But the servants of the king would not stretch forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.
18 To naah siangpahrang mah Dog khaeah, Angqoih loe, nang mah qaimanawk hae hum ah, tiah a naa. To pongah Edom acaeng Dog mah, qaimanawk to hum boih: to na niah anih mah puu ngan khukbuen angkhuk kami quitazet, pangato a hum.
And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou round, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned round, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day eighty and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.
19 To pacoengah qaimanawk ih vangpui Nob to sumsen hoiah a tuk, nongpa hoi nongpatanawk, nawkdi hoi tahnu nae li nawktanawk, maitawnawk, hrangnawk hoi tuunawk to sumsen hoiah a hum.
And Nob, the city of the priests, he smote with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and lambs, with the edge of the sword.
20 Toe Ahitub capa Ahimelek, Ahimelek capa Abiathar loe loih moe, David hnukah cawnh.
And there escaped one of the sons of Achimelech the son of Achitub, whose name was Ebyathar, and he fled after David.
21 Angraeng ih qaimanawk loe Saul mah hum boih boeh, tiah David khaeah thuih pae.
And Ebyathar told David that Saul had slain the priests of the Lord.
22 To naah David mah, Edom acaeng Dog mah Saul khaeah thui pae tih, tiah anih ka hnuk na niah ka poek roe boeh. Nampa imthung takoh boih duek hanah ka sak pazae moeng boeh.
And David said unto Ebyathar, I knew on that day, because Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have myself occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father's house.
23 Zii hmah; kai hoi nawnto om ah; na hinghaih pakrong kami loe, ka hinghaih pakrong kami ah ni oh; toe kai hoi nawnto na oh nahaeloe na ngan cuem tih, tiah a naa.
Remain thou with me, fear nothing; for he that will seek my life will seek thy life; but thou shalt be well guarded with me.
