1 To naah Samuel mah situi tabu to lak moe, Saul lu ah bawh pacoengah a mok; Angraeng mah angmah ih qawk ah kaom kaminawk zaehoikung ah situi ang bawh boeh na ai maw?
Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured [it] upon his head, and kissed him, and said, [Is it] not because the LORD hath anointed thee [to be] captain over his inheritance?
2 Vaihniah kai hoi ampraek pacoengah, Benjamin ramri Zelzah avang ih Rachel ih taprong taengah, kami hnetto na hnu tih; to kami hnik mah na pakrong ih hrang to hnuk hoi let boeh; nihnik mah khenah, nam pa mah to hrangnawk to poek ai ah, nang ni a poek lat boeh; ka capa loe kawbangmaw oh? tiah a thuih khing, tiah na thui tih.
When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel’s sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
3 To ahmuen hoi caeh hoi poe ah loe, Tabor azawn na phak hoi naah, Bethel ih Sithaw khaeah kacaeh kami thumto na hnu tih; kami maeto mah loe maeh caa thumto phawh moe, kalah maeto mah loe takaw kae thumto phawh, kalah maeto bae mah loe misurtui pailang maeto phaw let bae;
Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Beth-el, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
4 nihcae mah na dawt o ueloe, takaw kae hnetto na paek hoi tih; nihcae ban ih to takaw kae to talawk hoih.
And they will salute thee, and give thee two [loaves] of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.
5 To pacoengah Philistin kaminawk mah misatoephaih ahmuen, Sithaw ih mae ah na phak hoi pacoeng, vangpui na phak hoi naah, cingcaeng, tamoi, katoeng congca kruek hoiah laa sah, hmuensang hoi angzo tathuk lok taphong tahmaanawk to na hnuk hoi tih.
After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where [is] the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:
6 Angraeng ih Muithla na nuiah angzo tih, to naah nihcae hoi nawnto lok na taphong tih; nang loe kalah kami ah nam khraih tih.
And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
7 Hae angmathaih nangcae khaeah phak naah, Sithaw loe nang hoi nawnto oh pongah, na ban hoi sak han koi kaom hmuennawk boih to sah ah, tiah a naa.
And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, [that] thou do as occasion serve thee; for God [is] with thee.
8 Ka hmaa ah Gilgal ah caeh tathuk ah; khenah, hmai angbawnhaih hoi angdaeh angbawnhaih sak hanah nang khaeah kang zoh tathuk han, nang khaeah kang zoh moe, na sak han koi hmuen kang thui ai karoek to ni sarihto thung na zing ah, tiah a naa.
And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, [and] to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.
9 Samuel khae hoi tacawt han Saul angqoi naah, Sithaw mah anih hanah kalah poekhaih palung to paek, to ih angmathaih loe to na niah akoep boih.
And it was [so], that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.
10 Mae ah a phak hoi naah, khenah, tahmaanawk mah anih to tongh o, Angraeng ih Muithla anih nuiah phak, to naah anih mah nihcae salakah lok to taphong.
And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.
11 Canghni hoi anih panoek kaminawk mah, anih loe tahmaanawk hoi nawnto lokthuih toeng boeh, tiah hnuk o naah, kawbangmaw Kish capa loe hae tiah oh? Saul doeh tahmaanawk salakah athumtoeng maw? tiah maeto hoi maeto lok angdueng o.
And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What [is] this [that] is come unto the son of Kish? [Is] Saul also among the prophets?
12 To ah kaom kami maeto mah, Nihcae ampa loe mi aa? tiah a dueng. To pongah Saul loe tahmaanawk salakah athum toeng maw? tiah thuih ih lok to oh poe.
And one of the same place answered and said, But who [is] their father? Therefore it became a proverb, [Is] Saul also among the prophets?
13 Lok taphong boeng pacoengah, Saul loe hmuensang ah caeh.
And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
14 Saul ih ampu mah a tamna khaeah, Naa ah maw na caeh hoi loe? tiah a dueng. To naah anih mah, Hrang pakrong hanah ka caeh hoi moe, ka hnu hoi ai naah Samuel khaeah ka caeh hoi, tiah a naa.
And Saul’s uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that [they were] no where, we came to Samuel.
15 Saul ampu mah, Samuel mah timaw ang thuih? Na thui ah, tiah a naa.
And Saul’s uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.
16 Saul mah ampu khaeah, Laa hrang loe hnuk o let boeh, tiah Samuel mah kamnoekta ah thuih boeh, tiah a naa. Toe Samuel mah thuih ih prae ukhaih kawng to loe ampu khaeah thui pae ai.
And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.
17 Samuel mah Israel kaminawk Angraeng khaeah nawnto amkhueng o hanah, Mizpah vangpui ah kawk moe,
And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;
18 Israel kaminawk khaeah, Angraeng Sithaw mah, Kai mah ni Israel to Izip prae thung hoiah ka hoih, Izip kaminawk hoi nangcae pacaekthlaek kami ban thung hoiah pahlong, tiah a thuih pae.
And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, [and] of them that oppressed you:
19 Toe vaihniah raihaih hoi palungsethaih thung hoiah nangcae pahlongkung, na Sithaw to na pahnawt o ving boeh; nangcae mah anih khaeah, To tih na ai ni; kaicae nuiah siangpahrang na suem paeh, tiah na thuih o. To pongah vaihi na caengnawk boih, canawk boih Angraeng hmaa ah angphong oh, tiah a naa.
And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, [Nay], but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.
20 Samuel mah Israel acaengnawk boih angmah taengah anghnaisak moe, Benjamin caphung to a qoih.
And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.
21 Anih mah Benjamin acaeng to canawk boih hoi angmah taengah anghnaisak naah, Matri ih acaeng to qoih moe, Kish capa Saul to a qoih. Toe anih to pakrong o naah, hnu o ai.
When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.
22 To pongah nihcae mah Angraeng khaeah, To kami to hae ah angzoh boeh maw? tiah a dueng o. Angraeng mah, Khenah, anih loe hmuen salakah anghawk, tiah a naa.
Therefore they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.
23 Nihcae mah cawnh o moe, anih to kawk o; kaminawk salakah anih angdoet naah, anih ih palaeng loe kalah kaminawk pongah sang kue.
And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.
24 To naah Samuel mah kaminawk boih khaeah, Angraeng mah qoih ih kami hae khen oh, kaminawk boih salakah anih baktih mi doeh om ai, tiah a naa. To naah kaminawk boih mah, Siangpahrang! Sithaw mah hinglung sawksak nasoe, tiah hang o.
And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that [there is] none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.
25 Samuel mah siangpahrang ukhaih dan to kaminawk khaeah thuih pae; cabu thungah tarik moe, Angraeng hmaa ah a suek. To pacoengah Samuel mah kaminawk boih angmacae im ah amlaemsak.
Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote [it] in a book, and laid [it] up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.
26 Saul doeh Gibeah ah angmah ih im ah amlaem toeng, Sithaw mah palung sui pae ih kaminawk hoi nawnto a caeh.
And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.
27 Toe kasae kaminawk mah loe, Hae kami mah kawbangmaw aicae hae pahlong thai tih? tiah thuih o moe, anih han tangqum sin pae o ai, khet patoek o. Toe Saul mah nihcae to kawbang doeh naa ai.
But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
