1 To baktih toengah zunawk, na savanawk khaeah angpaek oh; to tiah ni lok tahngai ai savanawk to, lok hoi thuih kangai ai zunawk ih tuinuen rang hoiah na pazawk o thai ueloe,
So you also, wives, be subject to your own husbands, that them who have not obeyed the word, by your comely manners without labour you may win,
2 kahoih tuinuen hoi nihcae khingyahaih to na hnu o tih.
while they see that with reverence and with chastity you conduct yourselves.
3 Nam thoep o naah doeh tasa bang amthoephaih ah kaom, sam pakhuihaih, sui bungmu abuenhaih, kahoih khukbuennawk hoiah amthoep ai ah;
Neither be adorned with outward adornings of the entwinement of your hair, or necklaces of gold, or of excelling vestments,
4 Sithaw hmaa ah thuilaek ai atho kaom, kahmawn thai ai palung thung ih kami kranghoihhaih ah kaom, tuinom ohhaih, poekmonghaih hoiah amthoep han oh.
but adorn yourselves in the hidden man of the heart, with the spirit of gentleness which perisheth not, the ornament of excellence before Aloha.
5 Hae tiah ni Sithaw tanghaih katawn, canghni ih kaciim nongpatanawk mah doeh amthoep o moe, angmacae ih sava tlim ah angpaek o:
For so also of old the holy women who confided in Aloha adorned themselves, and were subject to their husbands,
6 Sarah mah Abraham ih lok tahngaih pongah, angraeng, tiah kawk: kawbaktih sethaih doeh zii ai ah, kahoih hmuen to na sak o nahaeloe, nangcae doeh anih ih canu ah ni na oh o.
even as Sara was subject to Abraham, and called him My Lord: of her be you the daughters in good works, not being perturbed by any fear.
7 To baktih toengah, Savanawk, lawk na thuih o haih to pakha ving han ai ah, panoek thaihaih hoiah zunawk hoi nawnto om oh, na zunawk loe tahmenhaih hoiah hnuk ih hinghaih nawnto toep kami, thazok kami ah oh o pongah, na zunawk to khingyahaih paek oh.
AND you, men, dwell likewise with your wives with knowledge, and as feeble vessels in honour hold them; for they also with you inherit the gift of the life of eternity; that you be not hindered in your prayers.
8 Hnukkhuem koekah nangcae boih poekhaih palungthin maeto ah amhong oh, maeto hoi maeto tahmenhaih tawn oh, nawkamya baktiah amlung oh, tahmenhaih hoi tuinom to tawn oh:
But, finally be all unanimous, and suffer with those who suffer, and love one another, and be merciful and gentle;
9 kasae sakhaih pongah kasae hoi pathok o hmah, zoehhaih to zoehhaih hoi pathok o hmah: toe tahamhoihaih paek o lat ah; hae tiah oh han ih ni ang kawk o, tito panoek oh, to tiah nahaeloe tahamhoihaih na toep o tih.
and let no man render evil for evil, nor invective for invective, but, that which is contrary to them, bless: for unto this are you called, that the blessing you may inherit.
10 Hinghaih akoep moe, hoihhaih aninawk hnuk koeh kaminawk loe kasaethuihaih thung hoiah angmah ih palai to angvaeng nasoe loe, pahni hoiah zaehaih thui hmah nasoe:
Who then willeth life, And loveth good days to see? Let him keep his tongue from evil, And his lips that they speak not guile.
11 sethaih to ayae nasoe loe, kahoih hmuen to sah nasoe; angdaehhaih to pakrong o nasoe loe, patom o nasoe.
Let him depart from evil and do good, And seek peace and run after it.
12 Angraeng ih mik loe katoeng kaminawk nuiah acuk, nihcae lawkthuihaihnawk doeh Anih mah tahngai pae: toe kasae sah kaminawk loe Angraeng mah mikhmai angqoi taak.
For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, And his ears, to hear them; And the face of the Lord is against the wicked.
13 Kahoih hmuen sah kami hnukah na bang o nahaeloe, mi mah maw nganbawh kana na paek o tih?
And who (is he) who will do you evil if you be emulous of good (actions)?
14 Toenghaih pongah patang na khang o nahaeloe, nangcae loe palung anghoe kami ah ni na oh o: nihcae mah pazihhaih to zii o hmah, mawn doeh mawn o hmah;
And (yet) if you suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are happy. And you will not fear them who would make you afraid, nor be shaken.
15 toe Angraeng Sithaw to na palung thung hoi khingyahaih paek oh: palung thungah na tawnh o ih oephaih kawng minawk mah ang dueng o naah, kami boih han poeknaemhaih hoi khingyahaih hoiah pathim pae thai hanah amsak o coek ah.
But sanctify in your hearts the Lord Meshiha. AND be prepared to make defence to every one who shall seek of you speech concerning the hope of the faith, with meekness and with seriousness, while you have a good conscience;
16 Kri ah tuinuen naemhaih mah nangcae kasae net kaminawk, nangcae kasae thui kaminawk azatsak hanah, kahoih poekhaih to tawn oh.
that as they speak against you as against evil men, they may be made ashamed who have traduced your good conversations in the Meshiha.
17 Sithaw koehhaih ah om nahaeloe kasae hmuen sak pongah loe, hmuen kahoih sak pongah patangkhang to hoih kue.
For it helpeth you (if) while doing goodly works you have to sustain evil, if so it be the will of Aloha, and not while working evils.
18 Katoeng ai kaminawk ih zaehaih pongah, katoeng Kri to vaito duek, aicae Sithaw khaeah caeh haih han ih ni, Anih mah to tiah sak, Anih loe taksa ah duek, toe Muithla mah Anih to pathawk let.
Because the Meshiha also once died on account of sins, the just on account of sinners, that he might bring us unto Aloha. And dead in the body and alive in the Spirit,
19 Anih loe thongim krah muithlanawk khaeah caeh moe, lok taphong pae.
he preached unto those souls who were held in sheul,
20 Noah palong thuk naah, to kaminawk loe Sithaw lok tahngai o ai; toe Sithaw mah nihcae to palungsawkhaih hoiah zing, kami zetta, hinghaih pakhra katawn kami long tazetto khue ni tui kanguem thung hoiah loih o.
those who before were disobedient in the days of Nuch; while the long-suffering of Aloha commanded that he should make the ark, upon the hope of their conversion, and eight souls only entered therein, and were saved in the waters.
21 To tui kanguem loe vaihi aicae pahlonghaih ah kaom tuinuemhaih hnuksakhaih ih ni; tuinuemhaih loe (kamhnong taksa pasaehhaih ih na ai, toe kasae kahoih panoekhaih hoiah Sithaw ih lok pathimhaih ah ni oh: ) Jesu Kri angthawk lethaih ah tuinuemhaih mah ni pahlong to hnuk,
After which very type also you are saved in baptism, not while you cleanse the body from filth, but while you make confession of 6 Aloha with a pure conscience, and of the resurrection of Jeshu Meshiha;
22 Anih loe van ah caeh boeh moe, Sithaw bantang bangah a oh; vankaminawk, sakthaihaih hoi thacakhaihnawk loe anih tlim ah ni oh o boih.
who is exalted unto heaven, and is at the right hand of Aloha, and unto whom are subject angels and authorities and powers.
