< 1 Piter 3 >
1 To baktih toengah zunawk, na savanawk khaeah angpaek oh; to tiah ni lok tahngai ai savanawk to, lok hoi thuih kangai ai zunawk ih tuinuen rang hoiah na pazawk o thai ueloe,
In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word;
2 kahoih tuinuen hoi nihcae khingyahaih to na hnu o tih.
seeing your pure behavior in fear.
3 Nam thoep o naah doeh tasa bang amthoephaih ah kaom, sam pakhuihaih, sui bungmu abuenhaih, kahoih khukbuennawk hoiah amthoep ai ah;
Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing;
4 Sithaw hmaa ah thuilaek ai atho kaom, kahmawn thai ai palung thung ih kami kranghoihhaih ah kaom, tuinom ohhaih, poekmonghaih hoiah amthoep han oh.
but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious.
5 Hae tiah ni Sithaw tanghaih katawn, canghni ih kaciim nongpatanawk mah doeh amthoep o moe, angmacae ih sava tlim ah angpaek o:
For this is how the holy women before, who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
6 Sarah mah Abraham ih lok tahngaih pongah, angraeng, tiah kawk: kawbaktih sethaih doeh zii ai ah, kahoih hmuen to na sak o nahaeloe, nangcae doeh anih ih canu ah ni na oh o.
as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
7 To baktih toengah, Savanawk, lawk na thuih o haih to pakha ving han ai ah, panoek thaihaih hoiah zunawk hoi nawnto om oh, na zunawk loe tahmenhaih hoiah hnuk ih hinghaih nawnto toep kami, thazok kami ah oh o pongah, na zunawk to khingyahaih paek oh.
You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.
8 Hnukkhuem koekah nangcae boih poekhaih palungthin maeto ah amhong oh, maeto hoi maeto tahmenhaih tawn oh, nawkamya baktiah amlung oh, tahmenhaih hoi tuinom to tawn oh:
Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble,
9 kasae sakhaih pongah kasae hoi pathok o hmah, zoehhaih to zoehhaih hoi pathok o hmah: toe tahamhoihaih paek o lat ah; hae tiah oh han ih ni ang kawk o, tito panoek oh, to tiah nahaeloe tahamhoihaih na toep o tih.
not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; because to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.
10 Hinghaih akoep moe, hoihhaih aninawk hnuk koeh kaminawk loe kasaethuihaih thung hoiah angmah ih palai to angvaeng nasoe loe, pahni hoiah zaehaih thui hmah nasoe:
For, "He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
11 sethaih to ayae nasoe loe, kahoih hmuen to sah nasoe; angdaehhaih to pakrong o nasoe loe, patom o nasoe.
Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
12 Angraeng ih mik loe katoeng kaminawk nuiah acuk, nihcae lawkthuihaihnawk doeh Anih mah tahngai pae: toe kasae sah kaminawk loe Angraeng mah mikhmai angqoi taak.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
13 Kahoih hmuen sah kami hnukah na bang o nahaeloe, mi mah maw nganbawh kana na paek o tih?
Now who is he who will harm you, if you become zealous of that which is good?
14 Toenghaih pongah patang na khang o nahaeloe, nangcae loe palung anghoe kami ah ni na oh o: nihcae mah pazihhaih to zii o hmah, mawn doeh mawn o hmah;
But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not fear what they fear, nor be troubled."
15 toe Angraeng Sithaw to na palung thung hoi khingyahaih paek oh: palung thungah na tawnh o ih oephaih kawng minawk mah ang dueng o naah, kami boih han poeknaemhaih hoi khingyahaih hoiah pathim pae thai hanah amsak o coek ah.
But sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with humility and fear:
16 Kri ah tuinuen naemhaih mah nangcae kasae net kaminawk, nangcae kasae thui kaminawk azatsak hanah, kahoih poekhaih to tawn oh.
having a good conscience; so that when they speak evil against you, they may be put to shame who slander your good manner of life in Christ.
17 Sithaw koehhaih ah om nahaeloe kasae hmuen sak pongah loe, hmuen kahoih sak pongah patangkhang to hoih kue.
For it is better, if it is God's will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil.
18 Katoeng ai kaminawk ih zaehaih pongah, katoeng Kri to vaito duek, aicae Sithaw khaeah caeh haih han ih ni, Anih mah to tiah sak, Anih loe taksa ah duek, toe Muithla mah Anih to pathawk let.
Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
19 Anih loe thongim krah muithlanawk khaeah caeh moe, lok taphong pae.
in which he also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison,
20 Noah palong thuk naah, to kaminawk loe Sithaw lok tahngai o ai; toe Sithaw mah nihcae to palungsawkhaih hoiah zing, kami zetta, hinghaih pakhra katawn kami long tazetto khue ni tui kanguem thung hoiah loih o.
who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the box-shaped ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved by means of water.
21 To tui kanguem loe vaihi aicae pahlonghaih ah kaom tuinuemhaih hnuksakhaih ih ni; tuinuemhaih loe (kamhnong taksa pasaehhaih ih na ai, toe kasae kahoih panoekhaih hoiah Sithaw ih lok pathimhaih ah ni oh: ) Jesu Kri angthawk lethaih ah tuinuemhaih mah ni pahlong to hnuk,
This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the body, but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
22 Anih loe van ah caeh boeh moe, Sithaw bantang bangah a oh; vankaminawk, sakthaihaih hoi thacakhaihnawk loe anih tlim ah ni oh o boih.
who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
