< 1 Siangpahrang 21 >

1 To pacoengah Jezreel vangpui ih kami, Naboth ih misur takha loe, Jezreel vangpui, Samaria siangpahrang Ahab ih im taengah oh.
After these things, Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.
2 Ahab mah Naboth khaeah, Nang ih misur takha loe ka im taengah oh pongah, aan patit hanah na paek ah; hae ih misur takha pongah kahoih kue kalah misur takha to kang paek han, to tih ai boeh loe na koeh zetto, atho kang paek han hmang, tiah a naa.
Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near my house; and I will give you for it a better vineyard than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”
3 Toe Naboth mah Ahab khaeah, Kampanawk ih qawk nang paek hanah, Angraeng mah asaeng mak ai, tiah a naa.
Naboth said to Ahab, “May the LORD forbid me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”
4 Jezreel vangpui ih kami Naboth mah, Kampa ih qawk to nang han kang paek mak ai, tiah a naa pongah, Ahab loe poeknawm ai, palungphui hoiah angmah im ah amlaem. Mikhmai set hoiah a iihhaih ihkhun nuiah angsong moe, buh doeh caa ai.
Ahab came into his house sullen and angry because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him, for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” He laid himself down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
5 To naah a zu Jezebel loe anih taengah caeh moe, tipongah mikhmai na set moe, buh doeh na caa ai loe? tiah a naa.
But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sad that you eat no bread?”
6 Anih mah a zu khaeah, Jezreel ih kami Naboth khaeah, Na misur takha to phoisa hoiah na zaw ah; to tih ai boeh loe na koeh nahaeloe, a zuengah kalah misur takha kang paek han hmang, tiah ka naa. Toe anih mah, Misur takha to kang paek mak ai, tiah ang naa, tiah a thuih pae.
He said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ He answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’”
7 A zu Jezebel mah, Israel ukkung siangpahrang ah na oh na ai maw? Poeknawm ai ah om hmah; angthawk loe buh to caa ah. Jezreel kami Naboth ih misur takha to kang paek han, tiah a naa.
Jezebel his wife said to him, “Do you now govern the kingdom of Israel? Arise, and eat bread, and let your heart be merry. I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”
8 To pongah Jezebel mah Ahab ih ahmin hoiah ca tarik moe, catui to daeng pacoengah, Naboth hoi nawnto kaom vangpui ih kacoehtanawk hoi angraengnawk boih khaeah a paek.
So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and to the nobles who were in his city, who lived with Naboth.

The men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had instructed them in the letters which she had written and sent to them.
12 Buhzahhaih ni to taphong o moe, kaminawk salak hmuensang ah Naboth to anghnut o sak.
They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high amongst the people.
13 To naah kahoih ai kami hnik to angzoh hoi moe, anih hmaa ah anghnut hoi; nihnik loe kasae hnukung ah oh hoi moe, minawk hmaa ah, Naboth mah Sithaw hoi siangpahrang ahmin sethaih a thuih, tiah zaehaih net hoi. To naah anih to vangpui tasa bangah zaeh o moe, thlung hoiah vah o maat.
The two men, the wicked fellows, came in and sat before him. The wicked fellows testified against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth cursed God and the king!” Then they carried him out of the city and stoned him to death with stones.
14 To pacoengah Jezebel khaeah, Naboth loe thlung hoi vah o maat moe, duek boeh, tiah thuih pae o.
Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned and is dead.”

When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, Jezebel said to Ahab, “Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.”
16 Naboth duek boeh ti, tiah Ahab mah thaih naah, angthawk moe, Naboth ih misur takha to lak hanah caeh tathuk.
When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.
17 Angraeng ih lok to Tishbeh vangpui ih kami Elijah khaeah angzoh,
The LORD’s word came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

You shall speak to him, saying, ‘The LORD says, “Have you killed and also taken possession?”’ You shall speak to him, saying, ‘The LORD says, “In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, dogs will lick your blood, even yours.”’”
20 Ahab mah Elijah khaeah, Aw ka misa, kai hae nang hnuk boeh maw? tiah a naa. Elijah mah, Kang hnuk boeh; Angraeng mikhnuk ah zaehaih toksak hanah nangmah hoi nangmah to nang zawh boeh.

21 Khenah, Angraeng mah na nuiah raihaih na phasak tih; Israel prae ah kaom tamna doeh, kaloih kami doeh, Ahab ih caa nongpanawk boih ka hum han,
Behold, I will bring evil on you, and will utterly sweep you away and will cut off from Ahab everyone who urinates against a wall, and him who is shut up and him who is left at large in Israel.
22 Kai palung nang phuisak moe, Israel to na zaesak pongah, Nabat capa Jeroboam hoi Ahijah capa Baasha imthung takoh baktiah, na imthung takoh hae ka sak han, tiah a thuih, tiah a naa.
I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which you have provoked me to anger, and have made Israel to sin.”
23 Jezebel pongah Angraeng mah, Jezreel sipae taengah Jezebel ih ngan to uinawk mah caa o tih, tiah thuih.
The LORD also spoke of Jezebel, saying, “The dogs will eat Jezebel by the rampart of Jezreel.

But there was no one like Ahab, who sold himself to do that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.
26 Israel kaminawk hmaa ah Angraeng mah haek ih, Amor kaminawk mah sak ih hmuen baktih toengah, krangnawk hoi panuet thok hmuennawk to a sak.
He did very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites did, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

When Ahab heard those words, he tore his clothes, put sackcloth on his body, fasted, lay in sackcloth, and went about despondently.
28 To naah Angraeng ih lok to Tishbe kami Elijah khaeah angzoh,
The LORD’s word came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
29 Ahab mah ka hmaa ah poek pahnaemhaih hoiah khosakhaih to na hnuk maw? To tiah ka hmaa ah poekhaih pahnaem pongah, to raihaih to a hingthung ka phasak mak ai; toe a capa dung ah a imthung ah amrohaih ka phaksak han, tiah a naa.
“See how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but I will bring the evil on his house in his son’s day.”
