< 1 Siangpahrang 2 >
1 David duekhaih tue zoi aep boeh pongah, a capa Solomon khaeah lokthuih pae,
Now the days of David drew near that he should die; and he commanded Solomon his son, saying,
2 long boih mah caehhaih loklam bangah ka caeh tom boeh pongah, na tha caksak loe, nongpa taang baktih khosah ah.
"I am going the way of all the earth. You be strong therefore, and show yourself a man;
3 Na Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih ih hmuen to sah ah; anih ih kaaloknawk, a paek ih daannawk, a thuih ih loknawk, a lokcaekhaihnawk to pazuih loe, a loklam ah caeh ah; Mosi ih daan cabu thungah tarik ih lokpaekhaihnawk to pazui ah; to tiah nahaeloe na caehhaih ahmuen kruekah na sak ih hmuen to akoep boih tih;
and keep the instruction of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and wherever you turn yourself.
4 Angraeng mah kai khaeah, Na caanawk loe a caeh o haih loklam ah acoe o moe, poekhaih boih, palungthin boih hoiah ka hmaa ah caeh o nahaeloe, Israel angraeng tangkhang pongah anghnu kami apet mak ai, tiah thuih ih lok to caksak poe tih.
That the LORD may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, 'If your children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you,' he said, 'a man on the throne of Israel.'
5 Vaihi Zeruiah capa Joab mah, ka nuiah sak ih hmuen hoi Israel misatuh angraeng, Ner capa Abner hoi Jether capa Amasa hnik khaeah sak ih hmuen to na panoek; misa kamongah oh naah nihnik to a hum moe, misa angtuk nathuem ih baktih toengah kami ih athii to longsak, to kami ih athii to angmah angzaeng ih kaengkaeh hoi a khokpanai pongah akap vop.
"Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, even what he did to the two commanders of the armies of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, avenging the blood of war in peacetime, and put the blood of war on my belt that was about my waist, and on my sandal that was on my foot.
6 Na tawnh ih palunghahaih baktih toengah a nuiah sah ah; sampok anih ih lu to amding rue ah taprong thungah caeh tathuk hmah nasoe. (Sheol )
Do therefore according to your wisdom, and do not let his gray head go down to Sheol in peace. (Sheol )
7 Toe Gilead kami Barzilai capanawk nuiah tahmenhaih tawn ah; na caboi pongah buhcaa kaminawk salakah athumsak ah; namya Absalom pongah ka cawnh naah, nihnik mah ni kai angsak haih.
But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those who eat at your table; for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom your brother.
8 To pacoengah khenah, Bahurim ih Benjamin acaeng, Gera capa Shimei loe na taengah oh, tiah panoek ah; Mahanaim ah ka caeh naah, kai to paroeai kasae ang padaeng; toe anih mah kai hnuk hanah Jordan vapui ah angzoh naah, anih to sumsen hoi kang hum mak ai, tiah anih khaeah Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah lokkamhaih ka sak.
"Look, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the LORD, saying, 'I will not put you to death with the sword.'
9 Anih loe vaihi zaehaih tawn ai boeh, tiah poek hmah; nang loe palungha kami ah na oh; anih nuiah kawbawngmaw sak han, tiah na panoek; sampok anih ih lu to athii hoi nawnto taprong thungah caehsak hmaek ah, tiah a naa. (Sheol )
Now therefore do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man; and you will know what you ought to do to him, and you shall bring his gray head down to Sheol with blood." (Sheol )
10 To pacoengah David loe ampanawk khaeah anghak moe, David vangpui ah aphum o.
David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David.
11 David loe Israel kaminawk nuiah saning quipalito thung siangpahrang ah oh; Hebron vangpui ah saning sarihto thung siangpahrang ah oh moe, Jerusalem ah saning quithum, thumto thung siangpahrang ah oh.
The days that David reigned over Israel were forty years; he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
12 To pongah Solomon loe ampa David ih angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnut; a ukhaih prae loe cak poe.
Solomon sat on the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was firmly established.
13 Haggith capa Adonijah loe Solomon amno Bathsheba khaeah caeh. To naah Bathsheba mah misa monghaih hoiah maw nang zoh? tiah a naa. Anih mah, Ue, kamongah ni kang zoh, tiah pathim pae.
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, and did homage to her. And she said, "Do you come peaceably?" And he said, "Peaceably."
14 Adonijah mah nang khaeah lokthuih han ka koeh, tiah a naa let. To naah Bathsheba mah thui khae, tiah a naa.
He said moreover, "I have something to tell you." She said, "Say on."
15 Anih mah, Na panoek baktih toengah prae loe kai ih ni; Israel kaminawk boih mah prae uk hanah kai ni ang khet o; toe prae loe angqoi moe, kamnawk ih prae ah oh; Angraeng mah prae to anih hanah paek boeh.
He said, "You know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign. However the kingdom is turned around, and has become my brother's; for it was his from the LORD.
16 Vaihi hmuen maeto hnik han ka koeh; na kang hmah, tiah a naa. To naah anih mah, hni khae, tiah a naa.
Now I ask one petition of you. Do not deny me." She said to him, "Say on."
17 To pongah anih mah, (nang han loe paawt mak ai); Solomon siangpahrang khaeah, Sunam kami Abishag to ka zu ah paek hanah na hni paeh, tiah a naa.
He said, "Please speak to Solomon the king (for he will not tell you 'no'), that he give me Abishag the Shunammite as wife."
18 Bathsheba mah, Hoih, siangpahrang khaeah nang han lok kang thuih pae han hmang, tiah a naa.
Bathsheba said, "Alright. I will speak for you to the king."
19 Bathsheba loe Adonijah kawng thuih pae hanah Solomon siangpahrang khaeah caeh. Siangpahrang loe amno tongh hanah, angthawk moe, amno hmaa ah cangkrawn pacoengah, angmah ih angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnut; siangpaharng amno hanah anghnuthaih maeto sinh pae o, amno to siangpahrang bantang bangah anghnutsak.
Bathsheba therefore went to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. The king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand.
20 Nang khaeah hmuen tetta hnik ka koeh, na kang hmah, tiah a naa. Siangpahrang mah, Kamno na hni khae, nang han loe ka paawt mak ai, tiah a naa.
Then she said, "I ask one small petition of you; do not deny me." The king said to her, "Ask on, my mother; for I will not deny you."
21 To naah amno mah, Sunam kami Abishag to namya Adonijah han zu ah paek halat khae, tiah a naa.
She said, "Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother as wife."
22 Solomon siangpahrang mah amno khaeah, Tipongah Sunam kami Abishag to Adonijah hanah nang hnik pae loe? Prae doeh hni paeh, anih loe kamya ni; anih pacoengah, qaima Abiathar hoi Zeruiah capa Joab han doeh hni paeh, tiah a naa.
King Solomon answered his mother, "Why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also. For he is my elder brother. For him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah."
23 To naah Solomon siangpahrang mah, Adonijah mah hnik ih hmuen to anih duekhaih hoiah ka pathok ai nahaeloe, Sithaw mah ka nuiah lokcaek nasoe, tiah Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah lokkamhaih a sak.
Then king Solomon swore by the LORD, saying, "God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
24 To pongah vaihi kampa David ih angraeng tangkhang pongah, kacakah anghnusakkung, a thuih ih lok baktiah a prae caksakkung, Angraeng loe hing pongah, Adonijah to vaihni roe ah hum oh, tiah a naa.
Now therefore as the LORD lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death this day."
25 Solomon siangpahrang mah Jehoiada capa Benaiah khaeah lokpaek, anih mah Adonijah to takroek moe, a duek.
King Solomon sent by Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell on him, so that he died.
26 Siangpahrang mah qaima Abiathar khaeah, Anathoth ih nangmah ih lawk ah amlaem ah; na duek han oh boeh; toe kampa David hmaa ah Angraeng Sithaw ih thingkhong to na put moe, kampa raihaihnawk boih na pauep haih pongah, vaihniah nang hae kang hum mak ai, tiah a naa.
To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go to Anathoth, to your own fields; for you are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the ark of the LORD before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted."
27 To pongah Solomon mah Abiathar to Angraeng toksakhaih ahmuen hoiah takhoe ving; Shiloh ih Eli imthung takoh kawng pongah Angraeng mah thuih ih lok to akoep boeh.
So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest to the LORD, that he might fulfill the word of the LORD, which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
28 To ih tamthang to Joab khaeah phak; anih loe Absalom hnukah bang ai; toe Adonijah hnukah bang pongah, Angraeng ih kahni im ohhaih bangah cawnh moe, hmaicam ih takii to patawnh caeng.
The news came to Joab; for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he did not turn after Absalom. Joab fled to the Tent of the LORD, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
29 Joab loe Angraeng ih kahni im ohhaih bangah cawnh moe, hmaicam to patawnh caeng, tiah Solomon khaeah thuih pae o; to naah Solomon mah, Jehoiada capa Benaiah khaeah, Caeh loe, hum ah, tiah a naa.
It was told king Solomon, "Joab has fled to the Tent of the LORD, and look, he is by the altar." And Solomon sent to Joab, saying, "What happened to you, that you have fled to the altar?" And Joab said, "Because I was afraid of you, so I fled to the LORD." And Solomon sent to Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, "Go, fall on him."
30 Benaiah loe Angraeng ih kahni imthungah akun moe, Joab khaeah, Siangpahrang mah ang kawk, tiah a naa. Toe anih mah, Kang zo mak ai, hae ah ka duek han, tiah a naa. To naah Benaiah mah siangpahrang khaeah, Joab mah hae tiah ang naa, tiah a thuih pae let.
Benaiah came to the Tent of the LORD, and said to him, "Thus says the king, 'Come forth.'" He said, "No; but I will die here." Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, "Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me."
31 Siangpahrang mah Benaiah khaeah, A thuih ih lok baktiah sah ah; anih to humh loe aphum ah; Joab mah longsak ih zaehaih tawn ai kami athii to kai hoi kampa ih imthung hoiah ciimsak ah.
The king said to him, "Do as he has said, and fall on him, and bury him; that you may take away this day the innocent blood which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father's house.
32 Anih loe angmah pongah katoeng, kahoih kue, Israel misatuh angraeng Ner capa Abner hoi Judah misatuh angraeng Jether capa Amasa to kampa David panoek ai ah hum, to tiah humhaih atho to Angraeng mah a lu nuiah krahsak let nasoe.
The LORD will return his blood on his own head, because he fell on two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David did not know it: Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.
33 A zaehaih athii tho loe Joab hoi a caanawk nuiah dungzan khoek to om nasoe; toe David hoi anih ih caanawk, anih ih im hoi anih ih angraeng tangkhang nuiah loe, dungzan khoek to Angraeng monghaih to om nasoe, tiah a naa.
So shall their blood return on the head of Joab, and on the head of his descendants forever. But to David, and to his descendants, and to his house, and to his throne, there shall be peace forever from the LORD."
34 To pongah Jehoiada capa Benaiah loe caeh tahang; Joab to takroek moe, a hum; anih to praezaek ah kaom angmah im ah aphum o.
Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell on him, and killed him; and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.
35 Siangpahrang mah Jehoiada capa Benaiah to Joab zuengah misatuh angraeng ah suek moe, Abiathar zuengah Zodok to qaima ah suek.
The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army; and the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.
36 Siangpahrang mah Shimei khaeah kami patoeh moe, anih khaeah, Jerusalem vangpui ah im to sah loe, to ah khosah ah; naa bangah doeh caeh hmah, tiah a naa.
The king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Build yourself a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and do not go out from there anywhere.
37 Na caehhaih ni hoi Kidron vacong na poenghaih ni loe, na duekhaih niah om tih; na thii loe na lu nuiah krah tih, tiah a naa.
For on the day you go out, and pass over the wadi of the Kidron, know for certain that you shall surely die: your blood shall be on your own head."
38 Shimei mah siangpahrang khaeah, Na thuih ih lok loe hoih; ka angraeng siangpahrang mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, na tamna kai mah ka sak han, tiah a naa. To pongah Shimei loe Jerusalem ah saning kasawkah oh.
Shimei said to the king, "The saying is good. As my lord the king has said, so will your servant do." Shimei lived in Jerusalem many days.
39 Toe Shimei ih tamna hnetto loe saning thumto boeng pacoengah, Gath siangpahrang, Maakah capa Akhish khaeah cawnh hoi ving. To pongah nihcae mah Shimei khaeah, Khenah, na tamna hnik loe Gath ah oh hoi, tiah thuih pae o.
It happened at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away to Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. They told Shimei, saying, "Look, your servants are in Gath."
40 Shimei loe angthawk moe, angmah ih laa hrang to angthueng pacoengah, a tamna hnik pakrong hanah, Gath prae Akhish ah caeh: Shimei loe caeh moe, a tamna hnik to Gath hoiah hoih let.
Shimei arose, and saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish, to seek his servants; and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.
41 Shimei loe Jerusalem vangpui hoi Gath ah caeh moe, amlaem let boeh, tiah Solomon khaeah thuih pae o.
It was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and had come again.
The king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Did I not adjure you by the LORD, and warn you, saying, 'Know for certain, that on the day you go out, and walk abroad any where, you shall surely die?' You said to me, 'The saying that I have heard is good.'
43 Tipongah Angraeng khaeah lokkamhaih akoepsak hanah, kang paek ih lok to na pazui ai loe? tiah a naa.
Why then have you not kept the oath of the LORD, and the commandment that I have instructed you with?"
44 Siangpahrang mah Shimei khaeah, Na koeh baktiah kampa David khaeah na sak ih zaehaih to palung thung hoiah na panoek; to pongah na sakpazaehaih hmuen to vaihi Angraeng mah na lu nuiah krahsak let tih.
The king said moreover to Shimei, "You know all the wickedness which your heart is privy to, that you did to David my father. Therefore the LORD shall return your wickedness on your own head.
45 Toe Solomon siangpahrang loe tahamhoihaih hnu tih, David ih angraeng tangkhang loe Angraeng hmaa ah dungzan ah cak poe tih, tiah a naa.
But king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD forever."
46 To pongah siangpahrang mah Jehoiada capa Benaiah khaeah lokpaek; anih loe caeh moe, Shimei to takroek, anih loe duek. Prae loe Solomon ih ban ah cak poe.
So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell on him, so that he died. The kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
