After many days, Yahweh’s word came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain on the earth.”

Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. The famine was severe in Samaria.
3 To naah Ahab mah, siangpahrang im khenzawnkung, Obadiah to kawk; Obadiah loe Angraeng zii kami ah oh.
Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Yahweh greatly;
4 Jezebel mah Angraeng ih tahmaanawk to hum naah, Obadiah mah tahmaa cumvaito kawk moe, quipangato ah tapraek pacoengah, thlung khaw thungah hawk; nihcae hanah buh hoi tui to a paek.
for when Jezebel cut off Yahweh’s prophets, Obadiah took one hundred prophets, and hid them fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
5 Ahab mah Obadiah khaeah, Prae boih ah caeh loe, tuipuek hoi vacongnawk ohhaih ahmuen boih ah caeh ah; taw ih moinawk duek han ai, hrang hoi laa hrangnawk hing o thai hanah, phroh kahoih prae to na hnu khoe doeh om tih, tiah a naa.
Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land, to all the springs of water, and to all the brooks. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we not lose all the animals.”
6 To pongah nihnik loe caeh han ih prae to ampraek hoi, Ahab loklam maeto bangah caeh naah, Obadiah loe kalah loklam bangah caeh.
So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it. Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.
7 Obadiah angmah ih loklam ah caeh naah, khenah, Elijah mah anih to hnuk; Obadiah mah anih to maat pongah, mikhmai to long ah akuep moe, Nang loe ka angraeng Elijah na ai maw? tiah a naa.
As Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him. He recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?”
8 Anih mah, Ue kai bae, Caeh loe na angraeng khaeah, Elijah hae ah oh, tiah thuih paeh, tiah a naa.
He answered him, “It is I. Go, tell your lord, ‘Behold, Elijah is here!’”
9 Obadiah mah, Ahab khaeah to tiah ka thuih pae nahaeloe kai hae na hum tih, kai loe tih zaehaih maw ka sak?
He said, “How have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?

As Yahweh your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. When they said, ‘He is not here,’ he took an oath of the kingdom and nation that they didn’t find you.
11 Toe vaihiah nang mah, Na angraeng khaeah caeh loe, Elijah hae ah oh, tiah thuih ah, tiah nang naa.
Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here.”’
It will happen, as soon as I leave you, that Yahweh’s Spirit will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.
13 Jezebel mah Angraeng ih tahmaanawk hum naah, Angraeng ih tahmaa cumvaitonawk to, qui panga, quipangato ah ka tapraek moe, thlung khaw thungah ka hawk pacoengah, nihcae to buh hoi tui ka paek, tiah ka angraeng nang mah na thaih ai maw?
Wasn’t it told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed Yahweh’s prophets, how I hid one hundred men of Yahweh’s prophets with fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
14 Vaihiah nang mah ka angraeng khaeah caeh loe, Elijah loe hae ah oh, tiah thuih hanah nang naa; anih mah kai hae na hum tih boeh, tiah a naa.
Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here”.’ He will kill me.”
15 Elijah mah, A hmaa ah kang doet moe, a tok ka sak pae ih misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng loe hing baktih toengah, vaihniah Ahab hmaa ah kam tueng pae han.
Elijah said, “As Yahweh of Armies lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.”
16 To pongah Obadiah loe Ahab hnuk hanah caeh moe, a thuih pae; to naah Ahab mah Elijah tongh hanah caeh.
So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
17 Ahab mah Elijah hnuk naah anih khaeah, Nang loe Israel kaminawk raihaih paek kami maw? tiah a naa.
When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”

He answered, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house, in that you have forsaken Yahweh’s commandments and you have followed the Baals.
19 Vaihiah kami patoeh loe, Israel prae thung ih kaminawk boih, Jezebel ih caboi ah buhcaa Baal ih tahmaa cumvai pali, quipangatonawk, Asherah ih tahmaa cumvai palitonawk to, kai hoiah nawnto Karmel mae ah angqum han ih kawk ah, tiah a naa.
Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
20 Ahab mah Israel prae thung boih ah lokpaek baktih toengah, tahmaaanawk to Karmel mae ah amkhuengsak.
So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to Mount Carmel.
21 Elijah loe kaminawk boih hmaa ah caeh moe, Nasetto maw poekhaih hnetto salakah na oh o han vop? Angraeng hae Sithaw tangtang ah om nahaeloe, anih hnukah bang oh; Baal hae Sithaw tang ah om nahaeloe, anih hnukah bang oh, tiah a naa.
Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you waver between the two sides? If Yahweh is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people didn’t say a word.
22 To naah Elijah mah kaminawk khaeah, Angraeng ih tahmaa loe kai khue ni anghmat boeh; toe Baal ih tahmaaanawk loe cumvai pali, quipangato oh o.

Let them therefore give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under; and I will dress the other bull, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under it.
24 Nangcae mah nangmacae ih sithaw hmin to kawk oh, kai doeh ka Angraeng ih ahmin to ka kawk toeng han; kawkhaih lok hmai hoiah pathim Sithaw to, Sithaw tangtang ah om nasoe, tiah a naa. To naah kaminawk boih mah na thuih ih lok loe hoih, tiah naa o.
You call on the name of your god, and I will call on Yahweh’s name. The God who answers by fire, let him be God.” All the people answered, “What you say is good.”

They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, “Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

At noon, Elijah mocked them, and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is deep in thought, or he has gone somewhere, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he sleeps and must be awakened.”
28 To pacoengah tha hoi hang o moe, angmacae takpum thung hoiah athii tacawt ai karoek to, haita hoi sum hoiah ang aah o.
They cried aloud, and cut themselves in their way with knives and lances until the blood gushed out on them.
