< 1 Siangpahrang 18 >
1 Atue sawk parai ah oh pacoeng, saning thumto naah, Angraeng ih lok Elijah khaeah angzoh; Caeh loe Ahab hmaa ah amtueng paeh; kai mah van hoi kho kang zohsak han, tiah a naa.
And it lasted many days, when the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Achab; and I will give rain upon the face of the earth.
2 To pongah Elijah loe Ahab hmaa ah amtueng hanah caeh. Samaria prae thungah khokhahaih paroeai nung boeh.
And Elijah went to show himself unto Achab; and the famine was grievous in Samaria.
3 To naah Ahab mah, siangpahrang im khenzawnkung, Obadiah to kawk; Obadiah loe Angraeng zii kami ah oh.
And Achab called 'Obadiah, who was the superintendent of the house; —(now 'Obadiah feared the Lord greatly;
4 Jezebel mah Angraeng ih tahmaanawk to hum naah, Obadiah mah tahmaa cumvaito kawk moe, quipangato ah tapraek pacoengah, thlung khaw thungah hawk; nihcae hanah buh hoi tui to a paek.
And it happened, when Izebel cut off the prophets of the Lord, that 'Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them fifty each in one cave, and provided them with bread and water; )
5 Ahab mah Obadiah khaeah, Prae boih ah caeh loe, tuipuek hoi vacongnawk ohhaih ahmuen boih ah caeh ah; taw ih moinawk duek han ai, hrang hoi laa hrangnawk hing o thai hanah, phroh kahoih prae to na hnu khoe doeh om tih, tiah a naa.
And Achab said unto 'Obadiah, Go through the land, unto all the springs of water, and unto all the brooks, peradventure we may find grass and keep alive horse and mule, that we lose not all the cattle.
6 To pongah nihnik loe caeh han ih prae to ampraek hoi, Ahab loklam maeto bangah caeh naah, Obadiah loe kalah loklam bangah caeh.
So they divided between them the land to pass through it: Achab went one way by himself alone, and 'Obadiah went another way by himself alone.
7 Obadiah angmah ih loklam ah caeh naah, khenah, Elijah mah anih to hnuk; Obadiah mah anih to maat pongah, mikhmai to long ah akuep moe, Nang loe ka angraeng Elijah na ai maw? tiah a naa.
And as 'Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah came toward him; and he recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou here indeed, my Lord Elijah?
8 Anih mah, Ue kai bae, Caeh loe na angraeng khaeah, Elijah hae ah oh, tiah thuih paeh, tiah a naa.
And he said unto him, I am: go, say unto thy Lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
9 Obadiah mah, Ahab khaeah to tiah ka thuih pae nahaeloe kai hae na hum tih, kai loe tih zaehaih maw ka sak?
And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldst deliver thy servant into the hand of Achab, to slay me?
10 Na Angraeng Sithaw hing baktih toengah, ka angraeng mah ahmuen kruek ah nang pakrong han ih, kami patoeh ai ih prae hoi avang maeto doeh om ai; anih mah kaminawk khaeah prae thungah nang ka hnu o thai ai, tiah lokkamhaih a saksak.
As the Lord thy God liveth, there is not a nation or kingdom whither my Lord hath not sent to seek thee; and when they said, He is not here: he caused that kingdom and nation to take an oath, that no one could find thee.
11 Toe vaihiah nang mah, Na angraeng khaeah caeh loe, Elijah hae ah oh, tiah thuih ah, tiah nang naa.
And now thou sayest, Go, say unto thy Lord, Behold, here is Elijah.
And it may come to pass, that, when I go from thee, the spirit of the Lord may carry thee whither I know not; and when I come to inform Achab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me; but I thy servant have feared the Lord from my youth.
13 Jezebel mah Angraeng ih tahmaanawk hum naah, Angraeng ih tahmaa cumvaitonawk to, qui panga, quipangato ah ka tapraek moe, thlung khaw thungah ka hawk pacoengah, nihcae to buh hoi tui ka paek, tiah ka angraeng nang mah na thaih ai maw?
Hath it not been told unto my Lord what I did when Izebel slew the prophets of the Lord, how I hid a hundred men of the prophets of the Lord, fifty each in one cave, and provided them with bread and water?
14 Vaihiah nang mah ka angraeng khaeah caeh loe, Elijah loe hae ah oh, tiah thuih hanah nang naa; anih mah kai hae na hum tih boeh, tiah a naa.
And now thou sayest, Go say to thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he will slay me.
15 Elijah mah, A hmaa ah kang doet moe, a tok ka sak pae ih misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng loe hing baktih toengah, vaihniah Ahab hmaa ah kam tueng pae han.
Then said Elijah, As the Lord of hosts liveth, before whom I have stood, surely today will I show myself unto him.
16 To pongah Obadiah loe Ahab hnuk hanah caeh moe, a thuih pae; to naah Ahab mah Elijah tongh hanah caeh.
So 'Ohadiah went to meet Achab, and he told it to him; and Achab went to meet Elijah.
17 Ahab mah Elijah hnuk naah anih khaeah, Nang loe Israel kaminawk raihaih paek kami maw? tiah a naa.
And it came to pass, when Achab saw Elijah, that Achab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
18 Elijah mah, Israel kaminawk raihaih ka paek ai; toe nang hoi nampanawk mah, Angraeng lokpaekhaih to pahnawt o moe, Baal hnukah na patom o pongah, Israel kaminawk raihaih na paek o.
And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, through your forsaking the commandments of the Lord, and because thou hast followed the Be'alim.
19 Vaihiah kami patoeh loe, Israel prae thung ih kaminawk boih, Jezebel ih caboi ah buhcaa Baal ih tahmaa cumvai pali, quipangatonawk, Asherah ih tahmaa cumvai palitonawk to, kai hoiah nawnto Karmel mae ah angqum han ih kawk ah, tiah a naa.
And now send, assemble unto me all Israel at Mount Carmel, and the prophets of Ba'al four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the grove four hundred, who eat at the table of Izebel.
20 Ahab mah Israel prae thung boih ah lokpaek baktih toengah, tahmaaanawk to Karmel mae ah amkhuengsak.
And Achab sent round among all the children of Israel, and he assembled the prophets at Mount Carmel.
21 Elijah loe kaminawk boih hmaa ah caeh moe, Nasetto maw poekhaih hnetto salakah na oh o han vop? Angraeng hae Sithaw tangtang ah om nahaeloe, anih hnukah bang oh; Baal hae Sithaw tang ah om nahaeloe, anih hnukah bang oh, tiah a naa.
And Elijah approached unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between the two opinions? if the Lord be the God, follow him; and if Ba'al—follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
22 To naah Elijah mah kaminawk khaeah, Angraeng ih tahmaa loe kai khue ni anghmat boeh; toe Baal ih tahmaaanawk loe cumvai pali, quipangato oh o.
And Elijah said unto the people, I have been left a prophet of the Lord by myself alone; but the prophets of Ba'al are four hundred and fifty men.
23 To pongah maitaw tae hnetto na paek oh; nihcae mah maitaw tae maeto qoi o nasoe, ahap ah bawk o nasoe loe, atlim ah hmaitik ai ah thing nuiah suem o nasoe; kai mah doeh kalah maitaw tae maeto lak moe, atlim ah hmaitik ai ah thing nuiah ka suek toengh han.
Therefore let there be given unto us two bullocks; and let them choose for themselves the one bullock, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire to it: and I will prepare the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire to it.
24 Nangcae mah nangmacae ih sithaw hmin to kawk oh, kai doeh ka Angraeng ih ahmin to ka kawk toeng han; kawkhaih lok hmai hoiah pathim Sithaw to, Sithaw tangtang ah om nasoe, tiah a naa. To naah kaminawk boih mah na thuih ih lok loe hoih, tiah naa o.
And do ye call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and it shall be that the God who answereth by fire, he shall be the [true] God. And all the people answered and said, The proposal is good.
25 Elijah mah Baal tahmaanawk khaeah, Nangcae loe na pop o parai pongah, maitaw tae maeto qoi oh loe, sah o hmaloe ah; atlim ah hmaitik ai ah nangmacae sithawnawk ih ahmin to kawk oh, tiah a naa.
And Elijah said unto the prophets of Ba'al, Choose you for yourselves the one bullock, and prepare it first; for ye are the many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire to it.
26 Nihcae han paek ih maitaw tae to lak o moe, Aw Baal, kaicae kawkhaih lok hae na tahngai paeh, tiah akhawn bang hoi athun khoek to, Baal ih ahmin to kawk o. Toe pathimhaih hoi lok palaemhaih maeto doeh om ai. To pacoengah angmacae mah sak ih hmaicam hmaa ah hnawh o.
And they took the bullock which he had given to them, and they prepared it; and they called on the name of Ba'al from morning even until noon, saying, O Ba'al, answer us; but there was no voice, nor any answer: and they danced about the altar which had been made.
27 Athun naah loe Elijah mah nihcae to pahnui thuih; tha hoi hang o khae! Baal loe sithaw ah oh pongah, lok maw apaeh, to tih ai boeh loe tok kong ai vop maw, to tih ai boeh loe kholong ah a caeh ving maw, to tih ai boeh loe iih vop pongah, pathawk han angaih vop kalang mue, tiah a naa.
And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked at them, and said, Call with a loud voice; for he is a god; either he is holding council, or he is busy in some pursuit, or he is on a journey; or peradventure he sleepeth, and may thus awaken.
28 To pacoengah tha hoi hang o moe, angmacae takpum thung hoiah athii tacawt ai karoek to, haita hoi sum hoiah ang aah o.
And they called with a loud voice and cut themselves after their custom with knives and spears, till the blood gushed out over them.
29 Niduem boeh moe, duembang angbawnhaih tue khoek to a hangh o; toe pathimhaih om ai, lok palaemhaih doeh om ai pongah, kaminawk mah tiah doeh sah o ai boeh.
And it came to pass, when midday was past, that they practised their follies until near [the time of] the offering of the evening-sacrifice; but there was neither voice, nor any answer, nor any perceptible sound.
30 Elijah mah kaminawk boih khaeah, Kai khaeah angzo oh, tiah a naa. Kaminawk boih anih taengah angzoh o. Kamro Angraeng ih hmaicam to anih mah sak pakhrai let.
And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me: and all the people came near unto him; and he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down.
31 Angraeng ih lok mah anih khaeah, Nang ih ahmin loe Israel, tiah kawk tih boeh, tiah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Jakob ih caanawk patahhaih hanah, Elijah mah thlung hatlai hnetto lak.
And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the Lord was come, saying, Israel shall be thy name.
32 To ih thlungnawk hoiah, Angraeng ih ahmin hanah hmaicam to sak pacoengah, aanmu camphaeh hnetto kakun tuilam to ataeng boih ah takaeh.
And he built of the stones an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench as great as would contain two seahs of seed round about the altar.
33 Thing to pahong moe, maitaw tae to ahap ah pakhoih pacoengah, thing nuiah a suek; to pacoengah nihcae khaeah, Laom kalen palito koiah tui to thaeng oh loe, hmai angbawnhaih hoi thing nuiah bawh oh, tiah a naa.
And he put in order the wood, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid them on the wood,
34 Anih mah to tiah vai hnetto sak hanah thuih pae ih lok baktih toengah, nihcae mah vai hnetto sak o. Anih mah vai thumto karoek to sak han thuih pae pongah, nihcae mah vai thumto sak pae o.
And he said. Fill four jars with water; and they had to pour it on the burnt-offering, and on the wood: and he said, Do it the second time: and they did it the second time: and he said, Do it the third time; and they did it the third time.
35 Tui loe hmaicam taengah longh, tuilam loe tui hoiah koi.
And the water ran round about the altar; and the trench also he filled with water.
36 Duembang angbawnhaih tue phak naah, tahmaa Elijah loe hmabang ah tacawt moe, Abraham, Issak hoi Israel Angraeng Sithaw, nang loe Israel kaminawk salakah Sithaw ah na oh, kai loe na tamna ah ka oh moe, hae hmuennawk doeh na lokpaekhaih hoiah ni ka sak, tiah vaihniah amtueng nasoe.
And it came to pass, at [the time of] the offering of the evening-sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, O Lord, God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, this day let it be known that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that at thy word I have done all these things.
37 Aw Angraeng, hae kaminawk mah nang loe Angraeng, Sithaw ah na oh, tiah panoek o moe, nihcae ih palungthin amlaem o sak let hanah, lawk ka thuihaih hae tahngaih loe, na pathim ah, tiah a naa.
Answer me, O Lord, answer me, and let all this people know that thou, O Lord, art the [true] God, and thou wilt [then] have turned their heart back again.
38 To naah Angraeng ih hmai to krak tathuk moe, hmai hoi sak ih angbawnhaih, thingnawk, thlung hoi tuilam pong ih tuinawk boih hmai mah kangh pae king.
And there fell a fire of the Lord, and consumed the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust; and the water also that was in the trench did it lick up.
39 To hmuen to kaminawk mah hnuk o naah, hmabang ah amtimh o moe, Angraeng loe Sithaw ni, Angraeng loe Sithaw ni, tiah hangh o.
And when all the people saw this, they fell on their faces; and they said, the Lord—he is the God; the Lord—he is the God.
40 Elijah mah nihcae khaeah, Baal tahmaanawk to naeh oh; maeto doeh loih o sak hmah, tiah a naa. Nihcae to naeh o, Elijah mah nihcae to Kishon vacong ah caeh haih tathuk moe, to ah a hum.
And Elijah said unto them, Seize the prophets of Ba'al; not one of them must escape; and they seized them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slaughtered them there.
41 Elijah mah Ahab khaeah, Caeh tahang ah, caa ah loe, nae ah; paroeai kho angzohhaih atuen to oh boeh, tiah a naa.
And Elijah said unto Achab, Go up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
42 To pongah Ahab loe caaknaek hanah caeh, toe Elijah loe Karmel mae nuiah dawh tahang moe, long ah tabok pacoengah, a mikhmai to khokkhu salakah suek.
So Achab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down toward the earth, and put his face between his knees;
43 A tamna khaeah, Caeh tahangh loe, tuipui bangah doeng ah, tiah a naa. Anih mah caeh tahang moe, khet naah, tidoeh om ai, tiah a naa. Elijah mah vai sarihto amlaem let ah, tiah a naa.
And he said to his servant, Go up, I pray thee, look in the direction of the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, Not the least [is visible]. And he said, Go again, seven times.
44 Vai sarihto naah loe anih mah, khenah, Tuipui thung hoiah tacawt tahang, kami ih ban baktiah kaom tamai tetta to oh, tiah a naa. To pongah Elijah mah, Caeh tahangh loe, Ahab khaeah, Hrang lakok pong angthueng ah, khotui mah pakaa khoep ai naah, caeh tathuk ah, tiah thui paeh, tiah a naa.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there is a little cloud like a man's hand arising out of the sea. And he said, Go up, say unto Achab, Harness up [thy chariot], and come down, that the rain may not detain thee.
45 Akra ai ah takhi hoi tamai mah van to vingsak pongah, kho paroeai angzoh. Ahab loe hrang lakok to angthueng moe, Jezereel ah caeh.
And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heavens were blackened with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Achab rode, and went to Yizre'el.
46 Thacak Angraeng ih ban loe Elijah nuiah oh; anih loe angmah ih kahni to kaeng ah angzaeng moe, Ahab hmaa ah Jezereel akunhaih khongkha ah cawnh.
And the inspiration of the Lord came over Elijah, and he girded up his loins; and he ran before Achab up to the entrance of Yizre'el.
