1 To nathuem ah Jeroboam capa Abijah loe ngannat.
At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.
2 Jeroboam mah a zu khaeah, Angthawk loe, nang loe kai ih zu ni, tiah kaminawk mah panoek o han ai ah na krang to angthlaeng ah loe, Shiloh ah caeh ah; kai loe hae kaminawk ukkung siangpahrang ah om tih, tiah taphong tahmaaa Ahijah loe to vangpui ah oh.
Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.
3 Takaw kae hato, karoem takaw hoi khoitui pailang maeto sin ah loe, anih khaeah caeh ah; nawkta loe kawbangmaw om tih, tiah anih mah na thui tih hmang, tiah a naa.
Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”
4 A thuih pae ih lok baktih toengah, Jeroboam zu mah sak; angthawk moe, Shiloh ah Ahijah im ah caeh.
Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
5 Toe Angraeng mah Ahijah khaeah, Khenah, anih ih capa loe ngannat pongah, a capa kawng dueng hanah Jeroboam ih zu nang khaeah angzo tih, anih ih caa kawbangmaw om tih, tiah nang mah thui paeh, anih loe nang khaeah nongpata kalah baktiah angsah tih, tiah a naa.
Yahweh said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”
6 To pongah thok taeng ih khok tangkan atuen to Ahijah mah thaih naah, Jeroboam zu angzo ah; tipongah kalah nongpata baktiah nang sak loe? Nang khaeah tamthang kasae thuih han ka tawnh.
So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.
7 Jeroboam khaeah caeh loe, Israel Angraeng Sithaw mah, Kaminawk thung hoiah nang hae kang qoih moe, kaimah ih Israel kaminawk ukkung ah kang toengh tahang,
Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,
8 David imthung takoh hoi prae to ka tapraek moe, nang hanah kang paek; toe nang loe ka tamna David baktiah na om ai; anih mah loe ka paek ih loknawk to pakuem moe, poekhaih palungthin boih hoiah ka hnukah bang; ka mikhnuk ah katoeng hmuen khue ni a sak;
and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,
9 nang loe na hmaa ah kaom kaminawk boih pongah nung kue kasae hmuen to na sak; nangmah hanah kalah sithawnawk, krangnawk to na sak; palung nang phuisak moe, kai hae na hnukbangah nang vah;
but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,
10 to pongah khenah, Jeroboam imthung takoh ah sethaih ka phaksak han; misong hoi kaloih kami thui ai ah, Israel ah kaom Jeroboam ih acaeng nongpanawk to ka hum boih han; kami mah hmai hoiah maitaw aek thlaek baktih toengah, kanghmat Jeroboam ih imthung takoh tamit boih ai karoek to, hmai hoiah ka thlaek han.
therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.
11 Vangpui thungah kadueh Jeroboam ih kaminawk loe, uinawk mah caa o tih; taw ah dueh kaminawk loe, van ih tavaanawk mah caa o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih boeh.
The dogs will eat he who belongs to Jeroboam who dies in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat he who dies in the field, for Yahweh has spoken it.”’
12 Nang doeh im ah amlaem lai ah; vangpui thungah na phak naah, nawkta to dueh tih.
Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die.

All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.
14 To na niah Jeroboam imthung takoh amrosak hanah, Angraeng mah angmah hanah Israel ukkung siangpahrang to tacawtsak tih; natuek naah maw tacawtsak tih? Vaihi roe ah om tih.

For Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking Yahweh to anger.
16 Israel kaminawk zaesakkung, Jeroboam ih zaehaih pongah, Israel kaminawk to pahnawt tih boeh, tiah lok ang thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah a naa.
He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”
