< 1 Siangpahrang 13 >

1 Angbawnhaih sak hanah Jeroboam hmaicam pongah angdoet naah, Angraeng ih lok baktih toengah, Sithaw kami maeto loe Judah prae hoiah Bethel ah angzoh.
A man of God came out of Judah by the word of Yahweh to Bethel. Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.
2 To kami loe Angraeng ih lok baktih toengah, Aw hmaicam, hmaicam; Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Khenah, Josiah tiah ahmin kaom, caa nongpa maeto David imthung takoh ah tapen tih; anih mah na nuiah hmuihoih thlaek hmuensang ih qaimanawk to angbawnhaih ah paek ueloe, na nuiah kami ahuhnawk to hmai hoiah thlaek tih, tiah a naa.
He cried against the altar by the word of Yahweh: “Altar, altar! This is what Yahweh says, 'See, a son named Josiah will be born to the family of David, and on you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who now burn incense on you. On you they will burn human bones.'”
3 To na niah Sithaw kami mah angmathaih to paek, Hae loe Angraeng mah thuih ih angmathaih ah oh, Khenah, hmaicam to koi phom ueloe, a nui ih maiphunawk to takhoek boih tih, tiah a naa.
Then the man of God gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign that Yahweh has spoken: 'Look, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes on it will be poured out.'”
4 Bethel vangpui ih hmaicam taeng hoi Sithaw kami hanghaih lok to Jeroboam siangpahrang mah thaih naah, hmaicam hoiah ban payangh moe, Anih to naeh oh; tiah a naa. Toe anih mah payangh ih ban to duek pae moe, a zuk let thai ai boeh.
When the king heard what the man of God said, that he had cried out against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam reached out with his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him.” Then the hand with which he had reached out against the man dried up, so that he could not draw it back to himself.
5 Angraeng ih lok rang hoiah Sithaw kami mah paek ih angmathaih baktih toengah, hmaicam to koih phom moe, maiphunawk doeh anghaeh phang.
(The altar was also split apart and the ashes poured out from the altar, as described by the sign that the man of God had given by the word of Yahweh.)
6 To naah siangpahrang mah Sithaw kami khaeah, Ka ban hae hoih let thai hanah, na Angraeng Sithaw khaeah tahmenhnikhaih lawk na thui paeh, tiah a naa. To pongah Angraeng ih kami mah Angraeng khaeah tahmenhaih hnik pae let; to naah siangpahrang ih ban to hoih pae, hmaloe ih baktiah oh let.
King Jeroboam answered and said to the man of God, “Plead for the favor of Yahweh your God and pray for me, so that my hand may be restored to me again.” So the man of God prayed to Yahweh, and the king's hand was restored to him again, and it became as it was before.
7 Siangpahrang mah Sithaw kami khaeah, Kai hoi nawnto im ah angzo ah loe, caaknaek koi hmuen maeto caa raeh, tangqum kang paek han, tiah a naa.
The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”
8 Toe Sithaw kami mah siangpahrang khaeah, Na im ahap nang paek langlacadoeh, nang khaeah kang zo mak ai; hae ah buh ka caa mak ai, tui doeh ka nae mak ai;
The man of God said to the king, “Even if you give me half your possessions, I will not go with you, nor will I eat food or drink water in this place,
9 Angraeng ih lok mah, Buh na caa mak ai, tui doeh na nae mak ai ueloe, nang zohhaih loklam hoiah doeh nam laem let mak ai, tiah thuih, tiah siangpahrang khaeah a thuih pae.
because Yahweh commanded me by his word, 'You will eat no bread nor drink water, nor return by the way that you came.'”
10 To pongah anih loe loklam kalah bang hoiah caeh, angzohhaih loklam Bethel hoiah amlaem let ai.
So the man of God left another way and did not return to his home by the way that he had come to Bethel.
11 Bethel ah tahmaa mitong maeto oh; tahmaa ih caanawk loe to na niah Sithaw kami mah sak ih hmuennawk hoi siangpahrang khaeah thuih pae ih loknawk to, ampa khaeah thuih pae o boih.
Now there was an old prophet living in Bethel, and one of his sons came and told him all the things that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. His sons also told him the words that the man of God had spoken to the king.
12 To naah ampa mah a caanawk khaeah, Anih loe naa bang ih loklam ah maw caeh? tiah a naa; Judah prae hoiah angzo Sithaw kami amlaemhaih loklam to a hnuk o pongah, a caanawk mah ampa khaeah thuih pae o.
Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen the way the man of God from Judah had gone.
13 To pongah anih mah a caanawk khaeah, Laa hrang na paek oh, tiah a naa. To pongah a caanawk mah anih hanah Laa hrang to paek o moe, angthueng o sak,
So he said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey and he rode off on it.
14 Sithaw kami hnukah a caeh, oak thing tahlip ah kanghnu anih to hnuk naah, anih khaeah, Nang loe Judah prae hoiah angzo Sithaw ih kami maw? tiah a naa. Anih mah, Ue, tiah pathim pae.
The old prophet went after the man of God and found him sitting under an oak tree; and he said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” He answered, “I am.”
15 To naah tahmaaa mah anih khaeah, Ka hnukah im ah angzoh loe, caeknaek koi hmuen maeto caa raeh, tiah a naa.
Then the old prophet said to him, “Come home with me and eat food.”
16 Sithaw kami mah, Na hnukah angzoh hanah kam laem let mak ai, takaw doeh ka caa mak ai ueloe, hae ah tui doeh ka nae mak ai.
The man of God answered, “I may not return with you nor go in with you, neither will I eat food nor drink water with you in this place,
17 Angraeng ih lok mah, To ah takaw na caa mak ai, tui doeh na nae mak ai ueloe, na caehhaih loklam hoiah doeh nam laem let mak ai, tiah ang thuih, tiah a naa.
because it was commanded to me by the word of Yahweh, 'You will eat no food nor drink water there, nor return by the way that you came.'”
18 Tahmaaa mitong mah, Kai doeh nang baktih tahmaaa maeto toeng ni, Angraeng ih lok baktih toengah van kaminawk mah kai khaeah, To kami to nangmah im ah amlaemsak let ah, takaw to caa nasoe loe, tui doeh nae nasoe, tiah ang thuih, tiah a naa. Toe anih mah amsawnlok ni a thuih pae.
So the old prophet said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of Yahweh, saying, 'Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat food and drink water.'” But he was lying to the man of God.
19 To pongah Sithaw kami loe anih hnukah amlaem let moe, anih im ah caak pacoengah, tui doeh a naek.
So the man of God went back with the old prophet and ate food in his house and drank water.
20 Caboi pongah anghnut hoi li naah, anih amlaem let haih tahmaa mitong khaeah Angraeng ih lok to angzoh;
As they sat at the table, the word of Yahweh came to the prophet who had brought him back,
21 anih mah Judah prae hoi angzo Sithaw kami khaeah, Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Angraeng ih lok to na aek moe, na Angraeng Sithaw mah ang paek ih lok to na pazui ai,
and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Yahweh says, 'Because you have been disobedient to the word of Yahweh and have not kept the command that Yahweh your God gave you,
22 nam laem let moe, Angraeng mah caak moe, naek han om ai, tiah thuih ih ahmuen ah takaw na caak moe, tui na naek pongah, na qok to nam panawk ih taprong ah aphum o mak ai, tiah a thuih pae.
but came back and have eaten food and drunk water in the place about which Yahweh told you to eat no food and drink no water, your body will not be buried in the tomb of your fathers.'”
23 Kamlaem let Sithaw kami loe buhcaak moe, tuinaek pacoengah, amlaem let han kathui tahmaa mitong mah Judah ih tahmaa hanah hrang to paek.
After he had eaten food and after he had drunk, the prophet saddled the donkey of the man of God, the man who had come back with him.
24 Loklam ah anih to kaipui mah hmaang moe, kaek maat; a qok to loklam ah suek sut, hrang hoi kaipui loe a taengah angdoet hoi.
When the man of God was gone, a lion met him on the road and killed him, and his body was left on the road. Then the donkey stood by it, and the lion also stood by the body.
25 To ah caeh kaminawk mah vah sut ih, kadueh qok taengah kangdoe kaipui to a hnuk o naah, caeh o moe, vangpui thung kaom, tahmaa mitong khaeah thuih pae o.
When men passed by and saw the body left on the road, and the lion standing by the body, they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.
26 Loklam hoi Sithaw kami amlaem haih let, tahmaa mitong mah to lok to thaih naah, anih loe Angraeng ih lok aek kami ni, Angraeng mah anih to kaipui khaeah paek, Angraeng mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, anih loe kaipui mah kaek moe, hum boeh, tiah a thuih.
When the prophet who had brought him back from the way heard it, he said, “It is the man of God who disobeyed the word of Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh gave him to the lion, which tore him to pieces and killed him, just as the word of Yahweh warned him.”
27 Tahmaa mah a caanawk khaeah, Laa hrang to hnik, to pongah nihcae mah laa hrang to angthueng o sak.
So the old prophet spoke to his sons, saying, “Saddle my donkey,” and they saddled it.
28 A caeh naah loklam ah vah sut ih qok to hnuk; hrang hoi kaipui loe a taengah angdoet hoi; kaipui mah kami qok to caa ai, Laa hrang doeh kaek ai.
He went and found the body left in the road, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body, nor attacked the donkey.
29 Tahmaa mah Sithaw kami ih qok to lak moe, hrang nuiah thuengh pacoengah, angmah avang ah amlaem haih let; anih to qah haih moe, taprong ah aphum.
The prophet took up the body of the man of God, laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to his own city to mourn and to bury him.
30 Sithaw kami ih qok to angmah ih taprong ah aphum pacoengah, Aw, kam nawk, tiah a qah haih.
He laid the body in his own grave, and they mourned over him, saying, “Woe, my brother!”
31 Anih to aphum pacoengah a caanawk khaeah, Ka duek naah, Sithaw kaminawk aphumhaih taprong ah na phum oh loe, anih ih ahuh taengah ka huh hae suem oh;
Then after he had buried him, the old prophet spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.
32 Bethel vangpui ih hmaicam hoi Samaria vangpui hmuensang ah kaom im kawng loe, Sithaw mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah akoep tih, tiah a naa.
For the message he declared by the word of Yahweh, against the altar in Bethel and against all the houses on the high places in the cities of Samaria, will certainly happen.”
33 To tiah oh pacoeng naah doeh Jeroboam loe a sak ih kahoih ai loklam hoiah amkhrai ai, kami rumramnawk to hmuensang ih qaima ah a suek let; qaima toksak han koeh kaminawk boih to hmuensang ah qaima toksakhaih to a paek.
After this Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but continued to appoint common priests for the high places from among all sorts of people. Any who would serve he consecrated as a priest.
34 Hae hmuen loe Jeroboam imthung takoh zaehaih ah oh moe, to tiah sak pongah Jeroboam ih acaeng to long pum hoi tahmaat boih hanah zaehaih ah angcoengsak.
This matter became sin to the family of Jeroboam and caused his family to be destroyed and to be exterminated from the face of the earth.
