< 1 Dungkrhoekhaih 15 >
1 David loe angmah hanah, David vangpui to sak moe, Sithaw ih thingkhong suekhaih kahni im doeh a sak.
David made himself houses in David’s city; and he prepared a place for God’s ark, and pitched a tent for it.

Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For the LORD has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.”
3 David mah sak ih kahni im ah Sithaw ih thingkhong phawh hanah, David mah Israel kaminawk boih Jerusalem ah nawnto amkhuengsak.
David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the LORD’s ark to its place, which he had prepared for it.

David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:
5 Kohat acaeng, zaehoikung Uriel hoi anih ih caa cumvai pumphaeto,

6 Merari acaeng, zaehoikung Asaiah hoi anih ih caa cumvai hnet, pumphaeto,
of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred and twenty;

11 To pacoeng ah David mah qaima Zadok hoi Abiathar; Levi acaeng Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel hoi Amminadab cae to kawk.
David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,

and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, up to the place that I have prepared for it.
13 Nangcae loe canghniah to tiah na sah o ai, a thuih ih lok baktih toengah kawbangmaw ka sak o han? tiah lok a dueng o ai pongah, aicae Angraeng Sithaw loe aicae nuiah palungphui, tiah a naa.
For because you didn’t carry it at first, the LORD our God broke out in anger against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”
14 To pongah qaima hoi Levi acaengnawk loe Israel Angraeng Sithaw ih thingkhong aput hanah ciimcai ah oh o.
So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
15 Angraeng mah Mosi khaeah paek ih lok baktih toengah, Levi acaengnawk mah Sithaw ih thingkhong to angzawnhaih thing hoiah palaeng ah aput o.
The children of the Levites bore God’s ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded according to the LORD’s word.

David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.
17 To pongah Levi acaengnawk mah angmacae nawkamya thung hoiah Joel capa Heman, angmah ih amnawk Berakiah capa Asaph; Merari acaeng thungah angmacae nawkamya Kushaiah capa Ethan;
So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;
18 Hnetto haih ah kaom angmacae ih nawkamya Zekariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Elipheleh, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom hoi khongkha toepkung Jeiel cae hanah tok paek o.
and with them their brothers of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.
19 To pongah Heman, Asaph hoi Ethan loe cingceng bopkung ah oh o;
So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of bronze to sound aloud;
20 Zekariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah hoi Benaiah cae mah Alamoth katoeng to kruek o.
and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;

and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.
22 Levi zaehoikung lu koek, Kenaniah loe laasak zaehoikung ah oh; anih loe laa zaehhoihaih kop kami ah oh.
Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skilful.
23 Berekiah hoi Elkanah loe Sithaw ih thingkhong akunhaih khongkha toepkung ah oh.
Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
24 Qaima Shebaniah, Jehoshaphat, Nathanel, Amasai, Zekariah, Benaiah hoi Eliezer mah Sithaw thingkhong hmaa ah mongkah to ueng o; Obed-Edom hoi Jehiah loe thingkhong khongkha toepkung ah oh o.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the shofars before God’s ark; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
25 To pongah David hoi Israel kacoehtanawk, kami sangto ukkungnawk loe, anghoehaih hoiah Obed-Edom imthung hoiah Sithaw lokkamhaih thingkhong to sinh hanah caeh o.
So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring the ark of the LORD’s covenant up out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.
26 Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong apu Levi acaengnawk to, Sithaw mah abomh boeh pongah, maitaw tae sarihto hoi tuutae sarihto angbawnhaih ah a paek o.
When God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the LORD’s covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.
27 David hoi Sithaw ih thingkhong apuu Levi acaengnawk, laasah kaminawk, laasah zaehoikung Kenaniah loe puu ngan khukbuen hoiah amthoep o; David doeh puu ngan kahni to angkhuk toeng.
David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.
28 To tiah Israel kaminawk boih mah Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong to, hanghaih lok, tuu takii bohhaih lok, mongkah lok, cingceng lok hoi aqui kapop katoeng lok hoiah phawh o tahang.
Thus all Israel brought the ark of the LORD’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with shofars, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.
29 Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong David vangpui thungah phak naah, Saul canu Mikael mah thokbuem hoiah khet; anih mah hnawh moe, anghoehaih hoiah kaom, David siangpahrang to hnuk naah, anih to palung thung hoiah khet patoek.
As the ark of the LORD’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
