1 Ka püie, hlüngtaikia Bawi, mi Bawipa Jesuh Khritaw nami jumkia kya lü khyange a khawkpunga ami ngsuingsak cän bük lü käh jah mkhawimhnga ua.
My brethren, do not, with respect for persons, be holding the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [the Lord] of glory.
2 Bawimangki naw xüi kutcüp ja suisak kdaw suisa lü mpyenkse naw kpyawn suisa lü nami ngkhämnaka ami law vai cän ngai süm ua.
For, if there enter into your synagogue a man wearing gold rings in gay clothing, and there enter a destitute man also, in soiled clothing, —
3 Suisak kdaw suisaki cän leisawng lü “khung akdaw üng ngawa” ti lü mpyenkse üngta “cäa ngdüia am ani üng ka khaw kung imcia ngawa,
And ye eye him that hath on the gay clothing, and say, Thou, be sitting here, pleasantly, —and, unto the destitute man, say—Thou, stand, or sit there under my footstool,
4 acukba anita nami ksunga ngkhawingpanak namät naw pawh uki lü nami ngaihtüh aksea khana tünei lü ngthumkhyahnak nami pawhkie ni.
Would ye not have been led to make distinctions among yourselves, and have become judges with wicked reasonings?
5 Ka püie na ngai u! Pamhnam naw hin khawmdeka mpyenksee cän jah xü lü jumeinak üng bawimang u lü ani kphyanakia phäh khyütam a jah peta pe cän ka na khaie ni.
Hearken! my brethren beloved: —Hath not, God, chosen the destitute in the world [to be] rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 Nang, mpyenkse am na leisawngki ni! Acune ta nang naw jah mkhuhmhlihki lü ngthumkhyah mkhawngea veia na jah kaihe cän ni. Bawimang he ta ue ni.
Whereas, ye, have dishonoured the destitute man! Do not, the rich, oppress you? and, themselves, drag you into courts of justice?
7 Nang üng ning peta ngming kdaw cän aksea pyenki cun bawimange ni.
Do not, they, defame the noble name which hath been invoked upon you?
8 Cangcim üng vekia, “Na im pei lo ceng cän namät na kphyanaka kba jah kphya naa” tia Khyawngpea thum cän na läklam üngta akcang ni nang naw na bilawh kawm.
If ye are, indeed, fulfilling, a royal law, according to the scripture—Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, nobly, are ye doing;
9 Lüpi khyange akpung da ami ngsuingsak jah bük lü na ve üngta, nang cun mkhyekatnak pawhki lü thum na lümkanki tia Thum naw ni mkatei khai ni.
But, if ye are shewing respect of persons, sin, are ye working, being convicted by the law as transgressors!
10 Thum mat lümkan nakütki naw avan a lümkana kyaki ni.
For, a man who shall keep, the whole law, but shall stumble in one thing, hath become, for all things, liable, —
11 Mat üng a pyen ta, “Khyanga khyuca käh bäühmanak vai,” a ti be tü ta, “Khyang käh hnima,” a ti ni. Khyanga khyuca am na bäünak üngpi khyang na hnim üngta thum na lümkankia kyaki ni.
For, he that hath said—Do not commit adultery, hath also said—Do not commit murder, —now, if thou dost not commit adultery, but dost commit murder, thou hast become a transgressor of law.
12 Ngthumkhyah law üng thum naw a jah mhlät vai khyangea kba, vecawh jah pyensak ngsungkia ve ua.
So, be speaking, and, so, doing, as they who, through means of a law of freedom, are about to be judged;
13 Mpyeneinak am takia khyang cun ngthumkhyah law üng Pamhnam naw am mpyenei; lüpi mpyeneinak naw ngthumkhyahnak cun näng ve.
For, the judgment, [will be] without mercy, unto him that hath shewed no mercy: Mercy, boasteth, over judgment.
14 Ka püie, nangmi üngka mat naw jumeinak ka taki ti lü pyen se, am a ngneisaknak üngta ia ngmangnak khai ni. Acuna jumeinak naw ning küikyan thei khai aw.
What profit, my brethren, —if one should be saying he hath, faith, but hath not, works; can his faith save him?
15 Na benae ja cinae naw ami suisak vai ja ei vai am ami tak vai cun ngai süma.
If, a brother or sister, should be naked, and coming short of the daily food,
16 Ami phäha hlüki am jah pe xa lü, “Ak'üpawma ngsuingsa lü akhlima eiawa! Pamhnam naw dawnak ning pe se na ti cän ia pi am dawkya na khaie ni.
And one from among you should say unto them—Withdraw in peace, be getting warmed and fed, but should not give them the things needful for the body, What the profit?
17 Acukba kyase, jumeinak amät ve lü ngneisak am a ngpüi üngta acun hin akthi ni.
So, also, faith, if it have not works, is dead, by itself.
18 Lüpi khyang mat naw, “Mat naw jumeinak ta ve, akce naw ngneisak kdaw ta ve,” a ti üng. “Ngneisak am ngpüi xa lü na jumeinak na mdana. Kei naw ka jumeinak cun ngneisak am ka mdan khai,” ti lü ka msang khai ni.
But one will say, —Thou, hast faith, and, I, have works, show me thy faith apart from thy works, and, I, unto thee, will shew, by my works, my faith.
19 Pamhnam mat däk veki tia na jumki aw. Daw ve! Khawyaie naw pi kyüheinak am ngkhet u lü jum ve u.
Thou believest that God is, one: thou doest, well—Even the demons believe, and shudder!
20 Khyang nghmawng aw! Ngneisak am ngpüi xakia jumeinak hin am mdang ni ti cun na ksing hlüki aw.
But art thou willing to learn, O empty man! that, faith, apart from works, is, idle?
21 Mi pupa Abraham cän ihawkba ni Pamhnam üng a ngsungpyun ta. A ca Isak ngkengnaka khana ta lü ngneisak üng a mdana phäha ni.
Abraham our father, was it not, by works, he was declared righteous—when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Am na hmu theiki aw. A jumeinak ja a vecawh atänga ngbilo ni lü a jumeinak cän a vecawha phäh kümceikia kyaki ni.
Thou seest that, his faith, had been working together with his works, and by his works did his faith become full-grown, —
23 Cangcim cang lü, “Abraham naw Pamhnam jumki, acuna a jumeinak cun Pamhnam naw ngsungpyunkia dokhamei petki ni,” ti lü pyenki. Acunakyase, Abraham cun Pamhnama püia ngsui lawki.
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith—And Abraham believed God, And it was reckoned to him as righteousness, and, God’s friend, was he called:
24 Büka, mi ngneisaka phäh Pamhnam am mi ngsungpyun law be lü mi jumeinak amät däka am kya ve.
Ye see that—by works, a man is declared righteous, and not by faith alone.
25 Nghnumi kse Rahap üng ahin cun täng ve. Ani naw Isarel msäke jah dokham lü lam kce üng ami lät vaia a jah kueia phäh ani cun a ngneisaka phäh Pamhnam üng ngsungpyunnak yahki ni.
And, in like manner also, Rahab the harlot, Was it not, by works, she was declared righteous, when she gave welcome unto the messengers, and, by another way, urged them forth?
26 Pumsa cun Ngmüimkhya kaa akthia mäi ni, acuna kba vecawh am ngpüikia jumeinak cun akthi hnga ni.
Just as, the body, apart from spirit, is dead, so, our faith also, apart from works, is dead.
