1 Mi äpeia Khritaw Jesuh ja mi küikyan Bawi Pamhnama khü, Khritaw Jesuha ngsä Pawluh üngkhyüh ni —

This letter comes from Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus appointed by the authority of God our Savior and Christ Jesus, who is our hope.

2 Jumnak üng ka ca kcang Timotia veia: Mi Pa Pamhnam ja mi Bawipa Khritaw Jesuh naw bäkhäknak, mpyenmseinak ja dimdeihnak ning pe se.

I'm sending it to you Timothy. You are my true son because of your trust in God. May you have grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 Maketawnih hne da ka ceh üng ka ning cüka kba Ephet mlüha na awma vai ka hlüeiki. Khyang avang naw akhye mcuhmthehnake ami jah mthei cän jah him kawm ti.

When I was on my way to Macedonia I asked you to stay behind in Ephesus, so that you could speak with those who teach false ideas and insist that they stop.

4 Jumeinak üng mi ksinga Pamhnama bü cun am khüi u lü jah ngcuhngkaihsak khai khuikam ja pakhui tähnake cän ami jah hawih vaia jah mtheh bä.

They shouldn't concern themselves with legends and never-ending obsessions about ancestry. Such ideas only lead to pointless debates, instead of understanding God as we trust in him.

5 Ahin ka tinak hlü ta, mlung angcim, ngcimkia ksingnak ja jumeinak kcange üngkhyüh lawkia mhläkphyanak a ve law vaia ni.

The reason why I insist on this is so we may have love that comes from a pure heart, from a clear conscience and sincere trust in God.

6 Khyang avange cun ahine üngkhyüh nglat u lü amdanga ngthähnak am ami lam mkhyühki he.

Some have deviated from these things, and have ended up talking nonsense.

7 Pamhnama thum jah mthei hlü u lüpi, mkhühüpnak üng a mi pyena mawnge ja amimäta ngthukhyü pi am ksing u.

They have ambitions to be teachers of the law, but they have no idea what they're talking about or what they're so boldly announcing!

8 Thum cun sumeinak vai üng mi sumei cun dawki tia mi ksingkie.

Now we recognize that the law is good if people use it properly.

9 Acuna thume cun khyang kdawa phäh am kya, lüpi thum lümkanki he, khyangksee, Pamhnam am ksing lü mkhyekatkie, hjawkkhah ning ja Ngmüimkhya lam am ksingkie, ami nupa hnimki he ja khyang hnimki he,

We also know that law isn't laid down for those who do what is good and right, but for those who are rebellious and ignore the law. It applies to people who have no use for God, who are sinful, who treat nothing as holy and are completely irreligious. It's for those who kill fathers and mothers, for murderers,

for those who are sexually immoral, homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, false witnesses—and anything else that's opposed to good teachings

11 Acuna mtheinak cun Pamhnama hlüngtainak ja jodawnak cun thangkdaw üngkhyüh kya lü acun hin sang khaia kei üng a na ap ni.

as determined by the wonderful good news of our blessed God which he entrusted to me.

12 Ka khüibinak üng ngjuktha na pekia mi Bawipa Khritaw Jesuh cun ka jenaki. Ania khut bi khaia ka lawingkawihkia ngai lü a na mcawna phäh ka jenak ni.

I'm just so grateful to Christ Jesus our Lord for the strength he's given me, and that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to work for him.

13 Ahlana ani cun mkhuimkha lü ksekha na lü am adawa mawng ka pyen khawi kyawki. I ka pawh käh ksing lü jumnak am tak ham üngpi Pamhnam naw na mpyeneiki.

Even though I used to insult God, and persecuted and abused God's people, God showed me mercy because of my ignorance and unbelief.

14 Khritaw Jesuh üng mi yümmatnaka kyaki mhläkphyanak ja jumnak cun kei üng na pe lü mi Bawipa naw a bäkhäknak akda keia khana buiki.

Our Lord in his grace filled me to overflowing with trust and love that comes from Christ Jesus.

15 Khritaw Jesuh khawmdeka a law hin mkhyeki he jah küikyan khaia lawki ti hin dokham lü jum kcang vai ti cun akcang pyena kyaki. Kei cun ami ksunga akse säih ni,

You can trust this saying that everyone should accept: “Christ Jesus came to this world to save sinners,” and I'm the worst of them.

16 lüpi Pamhnam naw kei a na mpyenei hin Khritaw Jesuha mlung saünak kei üng mdanki. Akse säiha mkhyeki he hnua jumei law u lü sak ngsäi xünnak ami yah vaia msuimcäpnaka ka kyaki. (aiōnios g166)

For this reason I was shown mercy—since I'm the worst sinner, Jesus Christ could demonstrate his infinite patience as an example to those who choose to trust in him and gain eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

17 Pamhnam mat däka kyaki, am thi thei lü am hmuh theia kyaki angsäia sangpuxanga thawnki ania veia hlüngtainak ja mküimtonak am angläta ve se! Amen. (aiōn g165)

Honor and glory forever and ever to the eternal King, the immortal, invisible, and only God! Amen. (aiōn g165)

18 Ka ca Timoti aw, ahina ngthupet cun nang üng ka ning ap ni, a hin cun ajana sahmae naw ami pyen kawia ngthukhyüa kyaki ni. Acäna ngthukhyüe cän akdawa na ngtukahnak vaia likcima jah sumei lü,

These are the instructions I want to give to you, Timothy, my son, following the prophecies that brought you this far, so you can fight the good fight!

Keep on trusting God and make sure you have a clear conscience. Some have refused to do this and have shipwrecked their trust in God.

20 Acune ksunga Himenias ja Aleksanda cun Khawyama johita k'uma jah ap lü ka jah mkhuimkha ni; ahin naw Pamhnam ami hmakatsak ami hawih vaia jah mthei khai ni.

Hymenaeus and Alexander are such people, and I have “handed them over to Satan” to teach them not to misrepresent God.
