1 Ine ndikunena zoona mwa Khristu. Sindikunama ndipo chikumbumtima changa kudzera mwa Mzimu Woyera chikundichitira umboni.
Truth, say I, in Christ, I utter no falsehood, —my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit, —
2 Ndili ndi chisoni chachikulu ndipo ndikumva kupwetekeka kosalekeza mu mtima mwanga.
That I have great grief and incessant travail in my heart;
3 Pakuti ndikanafuna ine mwini nditatembereredwa ndi kuchotsedwa mwa Khristu chifukwa cha abale anga, amene ndi a mtundu wanga,
For I could have wished to be accursed, even I myself, from the Christ, in behalf of my brethren my kinsmen according to the flesh; —
4 anthu Aisraeli. Iwo anasankhidwa kukhala ana. Mulungu anawapatsa ulemerero, anachita nawo mapangano, kuwapatsa Malamulo, Nyumba yopembedzeramo ndi malonjezano ake.
Who, indeed, are Israelites, whose are the sonship, and the glory, and the covenants, and the legislation, and the divine service, and the promises,
5 Awo ndi makolo athu. Kuchokera kwa iwo mʼthupi ndi kumene kunachokera makolo a Khristu Yesu amene ndi Mulungu wolamulira zinthu zonse, alemekezeke mpaka muyaya! Ameni. (aiōn g165)
Whose are the fathers, and of whom is the Christ—according to the flesh—he who is over all, God, blessed unto the ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Sikuti mawu a Mulungu analephera. Pakuti si onse obadwa mwa Israeli amene ndi Israeli.
It is not, however, as though the word of God had failed; for, not all they who are of Israel, the same are Israel.
7 Kapena kuti ana ake chifukwa anachokera mwa Abrahamu. Koma zidzukulu zako zidzachokera mwa Isake.
Neither, because they are seed of Abraham, are all children, —but, In Isaac, shall there be called unto thee a seed.
8 Kutanthauza kuti, si ana obadwa mʼthupi amene ndi ana a Mulungu koma ndi ana a lonjezano amene amatengedwa kukhala zidzukulu za Abrahamu.
That is—not the children of the flesh, the same are children of God; but, the children of the promise, are reckoned as a seed.
9 Pakuti Mulungu analonjeza ponena kuti, “Pa nthawi yake ngati yomwe ino chaka chamawa ndidzabweranso, ndipo Sara adzakhala ndi mwana wamwamuna.”
For, of promise, is this word—According to this season, will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 Ndipo si pokhapo ayi. Ana awiri a Rebeka aja abambo awo anali mmodzi, kholo lathu Isake.
And, not only so, but, when, Rebekah also, was with child, of one—Isaac our father, —
11 Komabe, ana amapasawa asanabadwe kapena asanachite chilichonse chabwino kapena choyipa, nʼcholinga choti chifuniro cha Mulungu chosankhiratu munthu aliyense chipitirire,
They, in fact, not being yet born, nor having practised anything good or bad, —in order that the purpose of God by way of election might stand, —not by works but by him that was calling,
12 osati chifukwa cha ntchito za munthu koma chifuniro cha Iye mwini, anawuza Rebeka kuti, “Wamkulu adzatumikira wamʼngʼono.”
It was said unto her—The elder, shall serve the younger;
13 Monga momwe kwalembedwa kuti, “Ine ndinakonda Yakobo, koma ndinamuda Esau.”
Even as it is written—Jacob, have I loved, but, Esau, have I hated.
14 Nanga tsono tidzanena chiyani? Kodi Mulungu ndi osalungama? Ayi, ndi pangʼono pomwe!
What, then, shall we say? Is there injustice with God? Far be it!
15 Pakuti Mulungu anawuza Mose kuti, “Ine ndidzachitira chifundo amene ndikufuna kumuchitira chifundo, ndipo ndidzakomera mtima amene ndikufuna kumukomera mtima.”
For, unto Moses, he saith—I will have mercy upon whomsoever I can have mercy, and I will have compassion upon whomsoever I can have compassion.
16 Nʼchifukwa chake, izi sizitengera zokhumba za munthu kapena kuyesetsa koma chifundo cha Mulungu.
Hence, then, it is nor of him that wisheth nor of him that runneth, but of the mercy-shewing God.
17 Malemba akuti Mulungu anamuwuza Farao kuti, “Ine ndakuyika kukhala mfumu ndi cholinga choti ndionetse mphamvu zanga, kuti mwa iwe dzina langa litchuke pa dziko lonse lapansi.”
For the Scripture saith unto Pharaoh—Unto this end, have I raised thee up, that I may thus shew in thee my power, and that I may declare my name in all the earth.
18 Choncho Mulungu amachitira chifundo munthu amene akufuna kumuchitira chifundo ndipo amawumitsa mtima munthu amene Iye akufuna kumuwumitsa mtima.
Hence, then, —on whom he pleaseth, he hath mercy, and, whom he pleaseth, he doth harden.
19 Tsono mmodzi wa inu nʼkundifunsa kuti, “Nanga nʼchifukwa chiyani Mulungu amatipeza olakwa? Nanga ndani amene amakana chifuniro chake?”
Thou wilt say to me, then—Why longer findeth he fault? For, his purpose, who hath withstood?
20 Koma ndiwe yani, munthu wamba, woti nʼkutsutsana ndi Mulungu? “Kodi chimene chinawumbidwa nʼkufunsa amene anachiwumba kuti, ‘Kodi unandiwumbiranji motere?’”
O man! Who, nevertheless, art, thou, that art answering again unto God? Shall the thing formed say unto him that formed it—Why didst thou make me thus?
21 Kodi wowumba alibe ufulu wowumba kuchokera ku dothi lomwelo mbiya yamtengowapatali ndi ina yamtengo wotsika?
Or hath not the potter a right over the clay—out of the same lump, to make some, indeed, into a vessel for honour, and some for dishonour?
22 Koma Mulungu, anafuna kuonetsa mkwiyo wake ndi kuti mphamvu yake idziwike. Iye anapirira modekha mtima kwambiri zochita za anthu omwe anawakwiyirawo amene anayeneradi chiwonongeko.
And, if God—wishing to shew his anger and to make known his power—bare, in much patience, with vessels of anger already fitted for destruction,
23 Iye anachita izi kufuna kuonetsa kulemera kwa ulemerero wake ndi kuti udziwike kwa amene analandira chifundo chake. Iye anawakonzeratu kuti alandire ulemerero wake
In order that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy which he prepared beforehand for glory, —
24 ngakhale ifenso amene anatiyitana osati kuchokera kwa Ayuda okha komanso kwa a mitundu ina.
Whom he also called, even us, not only from among Jews, but also from among the nations, [what then?]
25 Monga momwe Mulungu akunenera mʼbuku la Hoseya kuti, “Amene sanali anthu anga ndidzawatcha ‘anthu anga;’ ndipo Ine ndidzatcha ‘wokondedwa wanga’ amene sali wokondedwa wanga,”
As also in Hosea he saith—I will call the not-my-people, My people, and the not-beloved, beloved,
26 ndipo, “Pamalo omwewo pamene ananena kuti, ‘Sindinu anthu anga,’ pomweponso adzawatchula kuti, ‘Ana a Mulungu wamoyo.’”
And it shall be—in the place where it was said [to them]—not my people are, ye! there, shall they be called—Sons of a Living God.
27 Yesaya anafuwula za Aisraeli kuti, “Ngakhale chiwerengero cha Aisraeli chingakhale ngati mchenga wa ku nyanja, otsala okha ndiye adzapulumuke.
Isaiah, moreover, exclaimeth over Israel—Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant, shall be saved;
28 Pakuti Ambuye adzagamula milandu ya anthu pa dziko lapansi mofulumira ndi kumaliziratu.”
For, a complete and concise account, will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 Monga momwe Yesaya ananena malo ena kuti, “Ngati Yehova Wamphamvuzonse akanapanda kutisiyira zidzukulu, ife tikanawonongeka ngati anthu a ku Sodomu, tikanakhala ngati anthu a ku Gomora.”
And, even as Isaiah hath before said, —If, the Lord of hosts, had not left us a seed, as Sodom, had we become, and, as Gomorrha, had we been made like.
30 Kodi nanga tidzati chiyani? Tidzati a mitundu ina amene sanafune chilungamo analandira chilungamo chachikhulupiriro
What, then, shall we say? That, they of the nations, who were not in pursuit of righteousness, have laid hold of righteousness, —a righteousness, however, which is by faith;
31 koma Aisraeli, amene anafuna chilungamo cha lamulo sanachilandire.
Whereas, Israel, though in pursuit of a law of righteousness, unto a law, have not attained.
32 Chifukwa chiyani? Chifukwa iwo sanachifune ndi chikhulupiriro koma ngati mwa ntchito. Iwo anapunthwa pa “Mwala wopunthwitsa.”
Wherefore? Because, not by faith but as by works, [have they sought it]: they have stumbled at the stone of stumbling,
33 Monga momwe kwalembedwa kuti, “Taonani, Ine ndikuyika mwala mu Ziyoni wopunthwitsa anthu, thanthwe limene limagwetsa anthu. Koma amene akhulupirira Iye sadzachititsidwa manyazi.”
Even as it is written—Lo! I lay in Zion, a stone to strike against and a rock to stumble over, and, he that resteth faith thereupon, shall not be put to shame.
