1 Ndakatulo ya Davide, pamene iyeyo anali mʼphanga. Pemphero. Ndikulirira Yehova mofuwula; ndikukweza mawu anga kwa Yehova kupempha chifundo.

Of understanding for David. A prayer when he was in the cave. I cried to the Lord with my voice: with my voice I made supplication to the Lord.

2 Ndikukhuthula madandawulo anga pamaso pake; ndikufotokoza za masautso anga pamaso pake.

In his sight I pour out my prayer, and before him I declare my trouble:

3 Pamene mzimu wanga walefuka mʼkati mwanga, ndinu amene mudziwa njira yanga. Mʼnjira imene ndimayendamo anthu anditchera msampha mobisa.

When my spirit failed me, then thou newest my paths.

4 Yangʼanani kumanja kwanga ndipo onani; palibe amene akukhudzika nane. Ndilibe pothawira; palibe amene amasamala za moyo wanga.

I looked on my right hand, and beheld, and there was no one that would know me. Flight hath failed me: and there is no one that hath regard to my soul.

5 Ndilirira Inu Yehova; ndikuti, “Ndinu pothawirapo panga, gawo langa mʼdziko la anthu amoyo.”

I cried to thee, O Lord: I said: Thou art my hope, my portion in the land of the living.

6 Mverani kulira kwanga pakuti ndathedwa nzeru; pulumutseni kwa amene akundithamangitsa pakuti ndi amphamvu kuposa ine.

Attend to my supplication: for I am brought very low. Deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

7 Tulutseni mʼndende yanga kuti nditamande dzina lanu. Ndipo anthu olungama adzandizungulira chifukwa cha zabwino zanu pa ine.

Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the just wait for me, until thou reward me.
