1 Kwa mtsogoleri wa mayimbidwe. Salimo la Davide. Landitseni Yehova kwa anthu oyipa; tetezeni kwa anthu ankhanza,
Deliver me, Adonai, from the evil man. Preserve me from the violent man;
2 amene mu mtima mwawo amakonza zinthu zoyipa ndi kuyambitsa nkhondo tsiku lililonse.
those who devise mischief in their hearts. They continually gather themselves together for war.
3 Iwo amanola malilime awo kukhala akuthwa ngati a njoka; pa milomo yawo pali ululu wa mamba. (Sela)
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Viper’s poison is under their lips. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
4 Tetezeni Inu Yehova, kwa anthu oyipa; tchinjirizeni kwa anthu ankhanza amene amakonza zokola mapazi anga.
Adonai, keep me from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from the violent men who have determined to trip my feet.
5 Anthu odzikuza anditchera msampha mobisika; iwo atchera zingwe za maukonde awo ndipo anditchera misampha pa njira yanga. (Sela)
The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
6 Inu Yehova, ine ndikuti, “Ndinu Mulungu wanga.” Imvani kupempha kwanga Yehova.
I said to Adonai, “You are my God.” Listen to the cry of my petitions, Adonai.
7 Inu Ambuye Wamphamvuzonse, Mpulumutsi wanga wamphamvu, mumateteza mutu wanga tsiku lankhondo.
Adonai the 'Adonay [Yahweh the Lord], the strength of my yishu'ah ·salvation·, you have covered my head in the day of battle.
8 Musawapatse anthu oyipa zokhumba zawo, Inu Yehova; musalole kuti zokonza zawo zitheke, mwina iwo adzayamba kunyada. (Sela)
Adonai, don’t grant the desires of the wicked. Don’t let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
9 Mitu ya amene andizungulira iphimbidwe ndi masautso amene milomo yawo yayambitsa.
As for the head of those who surround me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Makala amoto agwere pa iwo; aponyedwe pa moto, mʼmaenje amatope, asatulukemonso.
Let burning coals fall on them. Let them be thrown into the fire, into miry pits, from where they never rise.
11 Musalole kuti anthu achipongwe akhazikike mʼdziko; choyipa chilondole anthu ankhanza.
An evil speaker won’t be established in the earth. Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 Ndikudziwa kuti Yehova amapereka chiweruzo cholungama kwa anthu osauka, ndipo amateteza zolinga za anthu osowa.
I know that Adonai will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and mishpat ·justice· for the needy.
13 Zoonadi anthu olungama adzatamanda dzina lanu, ndipo anthu owongoka mtima adzakhala pamaso panu.
Surely the upright will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to your name. The upright will dwell in your presence.
