1 Yamikani Yehova chifukwa ndi wabwino; pakuti chikondi chake ndi chosatha.
“BOOK V.” O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; For his mercy endureth for ever!
2 Owomboledwa a Yehova anene zimenezi amene Iyeyo anawawombola mʼdzanja la mdani,
Let the redeemed of the LORD say it, Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 iwo amene anawasonkhanitsa kuchokera ku mayiko, kuchokera kumadzulo ndi kummawa, kuchokera kumpoto ndi kummwera.
Whom he hath gathered from the lands, From the east, the west, the north, and the south.
4 Ena anayendayenda mʼchipululu mopanda kanthu, osapeza njira yopitira ku mzinda kumene akanakakhazikikako.
They were wandering in the wilderness, in a desert, They found no way to a city to dwell in.
5 Iwo anamva njala ndi ludzu, ndipo miyoyo yawo inafowokeratu.
They were hungry and thirsty, And their souls fainted within them.
6 Pamenepo analirira Yehova mʼmavuto awo ndipo Iye anawapulumutsa ku masautso awo.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, And he delivered them out of their distress.
7 Iye anawatsogolera mʼnjira yowongoka kupita ku mzinda umene anakakhazikikako.
He led them in a straight way, Till they came to a city where they might dwell.
8 Ayamike Yehova chifukwa cha chikondi chake chosatha ndi chifukwa cha machitidwe ake odabwitsa kwa anthu onse,
O let them praise the LORD for his goodness, For his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 pakuti Iye wapha ludzu la munthu womva ludzu ndipo wakhutitsa wanjala ndi zinthu zabwino.
For he satisfieth the thirsty, And the hungry he filleth with good.
10 Ena anakhala mu mdima ndi mʼchisoni chachikulu, amʼndende ovutika mʼmaunyolo achitsulo,
They dwelt in darkness and the shadow of death, Being bound in affliction and iron;
11 pakuti iwowo anawukira mawu a Mulungu ndi kunyoza uphungu wa Wammwambamwamba.
Because they disobeyed the commands of God, And contemned the will of the Most High;
12 Kotero Iye anawapereka kuti agwire ntchito yakalavulagaga; anagwa pansi ndipo panalibe woti awathandize.
Their hearts he brought down by hardship; They fell down, and there was none to help.
13 Pamenepo analirira Yehova mʼmasautso awo ndipo Iye anawapulumutsa ku masautso awo.
But they cried to the LORD in their trouble, And he saved them out of their distresses;
14 Yehova anawatulutsa mu mdima ndi mʼchisoni chachikulu ndipo anadula maunyolo awo.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And brake their bands asunder.
15 Ayamike Yehova chifukwa cha chikondi chake chosatha ndi machitidwe ake odabwitsa kwa anthu onse,
O let them praise the LORD for his goodness, For his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 pakuti Iye amathyola zipata zamkuwa ndi kudula pakati mipiringidzo yachitsulo.
For he hath broken the gates of brass, And cut the bars of iron asunder.
17 Ena anakhala zitsiru chifukwa cha njira zawo zowukira, ndipo anamva zowawa chifukwa cha mphulupulu zawo.
The foolish, because of their transgressions, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted;
18 Iwo ananyansidwa ndi chakudya chilichonse ndipo anafika pafupi ndi zipata za imfa.
They abhorred all kinds of food; They were near to the gates of death.
19 Pamenepo analirira Yehova mʼmasautso awo ndipo Iye anawapulumutsa ku masautso awowo.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, And he delivered them out of their distresses;
20 Iye anatumiza mawu ake ndi kuwachiritsa; anawalanditsa ku manda.
He sent his word, and healed them, And saved them from their destruction.
21 Ayamike Yehova chifukwa cha chikondi chake chosatha ndi machitidwe ake odabwitsa kwa anthu.
O let them praise the LORD for his goodness, For his wonderful works to the children of men!
22 Apereke nsembe yachiyamiko ndi kufotokoza za ntchito zake ndi nyimbo zachimwemwe.
Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare his works with joy!
23 Ena anayenda pa nyanja mʼsitima zapamadzi; Iwo anali anthu amalonda pa nyanja yayikulu.
They who go down to the sea in ships, And do business in great waters,
24 Anaona ntchito za Yehova, machitidwe ake odabwitsa mʼnyanja yakuya.
These see the works of the LORD, And his wonders in the deep.
25 Pakuti Iye anayankhula ndi kuwutsa mphepo yamkuntho imene inabweretsa mafunde ataliatali.
He commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, Which lifteth high the waves.
26 Sitima za pamadzizo zinatukulidwa mmwamba ndi kutsikira pansi pakuya; pamene amawonongeka, kulimba mtima kwawo kunasungunuka.
They mount up to the heavens, They sink down to the depths, Their soul melteth with distress;
27 Anachita chizungulire ndi kudzandira ngati anthu oledzera; anali pa mapeto a moyo wawo.
They reel and stagger like a drunken man, And all their skill is vain.
28 Pamenepo analirira Yehova mʼmasautso awo ndipo Iyeyo anawapulumutsa ku masautso awo.
Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble, And he saveth them out of their distresses;
29 Yehova analetsa namondwe, mafunde a mʼnyanja anatontholetsedwa.
He turneth the storm into a calm, And the waves are hushed;
30 Anali osangalala pamene kunakhala bata, ndipo Iye anawatsogolera ku dooko limene amalifuna.
Then they rejoice that they are still, And he bringeth them to their desired haven.
31 Ayamike Yehova chifukwa cha chikondi chake chosatha ndi machitidwe ake odabwitsa kwa anthu.
O let them praise the LORD for his goodness. For his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Akuze Iye mu msonkhano wa anthu ndi kumutamanda pabwalo la akuluakulu.
Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, And praise him in the assembly of the elders!
33 Iye anasandutsa mitsinje kukhala chipululu, akasupe otuluka madzi kukhala nthaka yowuma,
He turneth rivers into a desert, And springs of water into dry ground;
34 ndiponso nthaka yachonde kukhala nthaka yamchere, chifukwa cha kuyipa kwa amene amakhala kumeneko.
A fruitful land into barrenness, For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
35 Anasandutsa chipululu kukhala mayiwe a madzi ndi nthaka yowuma kukhala akasupe a madzi oyenda;
He turneth the desert into a lake of water, And dry ground into springs of water;
36 kumeneko Iye anabweretsa anthu anjala kuti azikhalako, ndipo iwo anamanga mzinda woti akhazikikeko.
And there he causeth the hungry to dwell, And they build a city for a dwelling-place,
37 Anafesa mbewu mʼminda ndi kudzala mipesa ndipo anakolola zipatso zochuluka;
And sow fields and plant vineyards, Which yield a fruitful increase.
38 Yehova anawadalitsa, ndipo chiwerengero chawo chinachuluka kwambiri, ndipo Iye sanalole kuti ziweto zawo zithe.
He blesseth them, so that they multiply greatly, And suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39 Kenaka chiwerengero chawo chinachepa ndipo iwo anatsitsidwa chifukwa cha mazunzo, mavuto ndi chisoni;
When they are diminished and brought low By oppression, affliction, and sorrow,
40 Iye amene amakhuthulira mʼnyozo pa olemekezeka anawachititsa kuyendayenda mʼmalo owumawo wopanda njira.
He poureth contempt upon princes, And causeth them to wander in a pathless wilderness;
41 Koma Iyeyo anakweza anthu osowa kuchoka ku masautso awo ngati magulu a nkhosa.
But he raiseth the poor from their affliction, And increaseth their families like a flock.
42 Anthu olungama mtima amaona ndi kusangalala, koma anthu onse oyipa amatseka pakamwa pawo.
The righteous see it and rejoice, And all iniquity shutteth her mouth.
43 Aliyense wanzeru asamalitse zinthu zimenezi ndi kuganizira za chikondi chachikulu cha Yehova.
Whoso is wise, let him observe this, And have regard to the loving-kindness of the LORD!
