1 Nawa mawu a mfumu Lemueli wa ku Massa amene anamuphunzitsa amayi ake:
The words of Lemuel the king, —the strain which was taught him by his mother: —
2 Nʼchiyani mwana wanga? Nʼchiyani mwana wa mʼmimba mwanga? Nʼchiyani iwe mwana wanga amene ndinachita kupempha ndi malumbiro?
What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? aye what, the son of my vows?
3 Usapereke mphamvu yako kwa akazi. Usamayenda nawo amenewa popeza amawononga ngakhale mafumu.
Do not give, to women, thy strength, nor thy ways, to them who ruin kings.
4 Iwe Lemueli si choyenera kwa mafumu, mafumu sayenera kumwa vinyo. Olamulira asamalakalake chakumwa choledzeretsa
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor, for dignitaries, to desire strong drink,
5 kuopa kuti akamwa adzayiwala malamulo a dziko, nayamba kukhotetsa zinthu zoyenera anthu osauka.
Lest he drink, and forget that which is decreed, and alter the plea of any who are sorely oppressed.
6 Perekani chakumwa choledzeretsa kwa amene ali pafupi kufa, vinyo kwa amene ali pa mavuto woopsa;
Give strong drink, to him that is perishing, and wine, to such as are embittered in soul:
7 amwe kuti ayiwale umphawi wawo asakumbukirenso kuvutika kwawo.
Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and, his wearying toil, let him remember no more.
8 Yankhula mʼmalo mwa amene sangathe kudziyankhulira okha. Uwayankhulire anthu onse osiyidwa pa zonse zowayenera.
Open thy mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all the children of the departed.
9 Yankhula ndi kuweruza mwachilungamo. Uwateteze amphawi ndi osauka.
Open thy mouth—judge righteously, —and administer justice for the poor and the needy.
10 Kodi mkazi wangwiro angathe kumupeza ndani? Ndi wokwera mtengo kuposa miyala yamtengowapatali.
A virtuous woman, who can find? for, far beyond corals, is her worth.
11 Mtima wa mwamuna wake umamukhulupirira ndipo mwamunayo sasowa phindu.
The heart of her husband, trusteth her, and, gain, he shall not lack:
12 Masiku onse a moyo wake mkaziyo amachitira mwamuna wake zabwino zokhazokha osati zoyipa.
She doeth him good and not evil, all the days of her life:
13 Iye amafunafuna ubweya ndi thonje; amagwira ntchito ndi manja ake mwaufulu.
She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands:
14 Iye ali ngati sitima zapamadzi za anthu amalonda, amakatenga chakudya chake kutali.
She is like the ships of the merchant, from afar, she bringeth in her food;
15 Iye amadzuka kusanache kwenikweni; ndi kuyamba kukonzera a pa banja pake chakudya ndi kuwagawira ntchito atsikana ake antchito.
And she riseth, while yet it is night, and giveth food to her household, and a task to her maidens:
16 Iye amalingalira za munda ndi kuwugula; ndi ndalama zimene wazipeza amalima munda wamphesa.
She considereth a field, and procureth it, Out of the fruit of her hands, she planteth a vineyard:
17 Iye amavala zilimbe nagwira ntchito mwamphamvu ndi manja ake.
She girdeth, with strength her loins, and putteth vigour into her arms:
18 Iye amaona kuti malonda ake ndi aphindu, choncho nyale yake sizima usiku wonse.
She tasteth, whether, good, be her merchandise, and her lamp, goeth not out by night:
19 Iye amadzilukira thonje ndipo yekha amagwira chowombera nsalu.
Her hands, she putteth forth to the distaff, and, her palms, lay hold of the spindle:
20 Iye amachitira chifundo anthu osauka ndipo amapereka chithandizo kwa anthu osowa.
Her palm, she spreadeth out to the oppressed, and, her hands, she extendeth to the needy:
21 Iye saopa kuti banja lake lifa ndi kuzizira pa nyengo yachisanu; pakuti onse amakhala atavala zovala zofunda.
She feareth not, for her household, because of the snow, for, all her household, are clothed with crimson:
22 Iye amadzipangira yekha zoyala pa bedi pake; amavala zovala zabafuta ndi zapepo.
Coverlets, she maketh for herself, Of white linen and of purple, is her clothing:
23 Mwamuna wake ndi wodziwika pa chipata cha mzinda, ndipo amakhala pakati pa akuluakulu a mʼdzikomo.
Known in the gates, is her husband, when he sitteth, with the elders of the land:
24 Iye amasoka nsalu zabafuta nazigulitsa; amaperekanso mipango kwa anthu amalonda.
Fine linen wraps, she maketh and selleth, and, girdles, doth she deliver to the trader:
25 Mphamvu ndi ulemu zimakhala ngati chovala chake; ndipo amaseka osaopa zamʼtsogolo.
Strength and dignity, are her clothing, and she laugheth at the time to come:
26 Iye amayankhula mwanzeru, amaphunzitsa anthu mwachikondi.
Her mouth, she openeth with wisdom, and, the instruction of kindness, is on her tongue:
27 Iye amayangʼanira makhalidwe a anthu a pa banja lake ndipo sachita ulesi ndi pangʼono pomwe.
She looketh well to the goings of her household, and, the bread of idleness, will she not eat.
28 Ana ake amamunyadira ndipo amamutcha kuti wodala; ndipo mwamuna wake, amamuyamikira nʼkumati,
Her children rise up, and call her happy! her husband, and he praiseth her: —
29 “Pali akazi ambiri amene achita zinthu zopambana koma iwe umawaposa onsewa.”
Many daughters, have done virtuously, but, thou, excellest them all!
30 Nkhope yachikoka ndi yonyenga, ndipo kukongola nʼkosakhalitsa; koma mkazi amene amaopa Yehova ayenera kutamandidwa.
Deceitful is loveliness and vain is beauty, The woman that revereth Yahweh, she, shall be praised:
31 Mupatseni mphotho chifukwa cha zimene iye wachita ndipo ntchito zake zimutamande ku mabwalo.
Give her of the fruit of her own hands, and let her own works, praise her in the gates.
