1 Munthu amene amakonda mwambo amakonda kudziwa zinthu, koma amene amadana ndi chidzudzulo ndi wopusa.
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
2 Munthu wabwino amapeza kuyanja pamaso pa Yehova, koma Yehova amatsutsa munthu wochita chinyengo.
The good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a man who devises evil.
3 Munthu sangakhazikike bwino pochita zoyipa, koma maziko a anthu olungama sadzatekeseka.
A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.
4 Mkazi wakhalidwe labwino ali ngati chipewa chaufumu kwa mwamuna wake, koma mkazi wochititsa manyazi ali ngati chilonda cha mafinya kwa mwamuna wake.
A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but she who causes shame is like decay in his bones.
5 Maganizo a anthu olungama ndi owongoka, koma malangizo a anthu oyipa ndi achinyengo.
The plans of the righteous are just, but the counsel of the wicked leads to deceit.
6 Mawu a anthu oyipa ndi ophetsa, koma mawu a anthu olungama amapulumutsa.
The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.
7 Anthu oyipa amagonjetsedwa ndipo amayiwalika, koma nyumba ya anthu olungama idzakhalabe.
The wicked are overthrown and perish, but the house of the righteous will stand.
8 Munthu amatamandidwa malinga ndi nzeru zake, koma anthu amitima yokhota amanyozedwa.
A man is praised according to his wisdom, but a twisted mind is despised.
9 Nʼkwabwino kukhala munthu wonyozeka koma wodzigwirira ntchito nʼkukhala ndi zonse zofunika, kuposa kukhala wodzikuza koma ulibe ndi chakudya chomwe.
Better to be lightly esteemed yet have a servant, than to be self-important but lack food.
10 Munthu wolungama amasamalira moyo wa ziweto zake, koma chifundo cha munthu woyipa ndi chakhanza.
A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are only cruelty.
11 Wolima mʼmunda mwake mwakhama adzakhala ndi chakudya chochuluka, koma wotsata zopanda pake alibe nzeru.

13 Munthu woyipa amakodwa mu msampha wa mayankhulidwe ake oyipa; koma munthu wolungama amatuluka mʼmavuto.
An evil man is trapped by his rebellious speech, but a righteous man escapes from trouble.
14 Munthu amakhala ndi zabwino zambiri chifukwa cha mawu ake ndipo ntchito zimene munthu agwira ndi manja ake zimamupindulira.
By fruitful speech a man is filled with good things, and the work of his hands returns to him.
15 Zochita za chitsiru mwini wakeyo amaziona ngati zabwino, koma munthu wanzeru amamvera malangizo.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to counsel.
