< Numeri 23 >
1 Balaamu anati kwa Balaki, “Mundimangire maguwa ansembe asanu ndi awiri pano, ndipo mukonzenso ngʼombe zazimuna zisanu ndi ziwiri ndi nkhosa zazimuna zisanu ndi ziwiri.”
Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars here for me and prepare seven bulls and seven rams.”
2 Balaki anachita monga Balaamu ananenera ndipo awiriwo anapereka ngʼombe imodzi ndi nkhosa yayimuna imodzi pa guwa lansembe lililonse.
So Balak did as Balaam requested. Then Balak and Balaam offered a bull and a ram on every altar.
3 Kenaka Balaamu anati kwa Balaki, “Khalani pano pafupi ndi nsembe yanu ineyo ndipite pambali. Mwina Yehova adzabwera kuti akumane nane. Chilichonse chimene akandionetse ndidzakuwuzani” Choncho anapita ku malo okwera a chipululu.
Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stand at your burnt offering and I will go. Perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me. Whatever he shows me I will tell you.” So he went away to a hilltop with no trees.
4 Mulungu anakumana naye ndipo Balaamu anati, “Ndakonza maguwa asanu ndi awiri ndipo pa guwa lililonse ndaperekapo nsembe ya ngʼombe yayimuna imodzi ndi nkhosa yayimuna imodzinso.”
While he was on the hilltop, God met him, and Balaam said to him, “I have built seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on each one.”
5 Yehova anawuza Balaamu kuti, “Bwerera kwa Balaki ndipo ukamuwuze uthenga uwu.”
Yahweh put a message in Balaam's mouth and said, “Return to Balak and speak to him.”
6 Ndipo anabwerera kwa iye namupeza atayima pafupi ndi nsembe yake pamodzi ndi akuluakulu onse a Mowabu.
So Balaam returned to Balak, who was standing by his burnt offering, and all the leaders of Moab were with him.
7 Ndipo Balaamu ananena uthenga wake: “Balaki ananditenga kuchoka ku Aramu, mfumu ya ku Mowabu kuchokera ku mapiri a kummawa. Iye anati, ‘Bwera, temberera Yakobo mʼmalo mwanga, pita nyoza Israeli.’
Then Balaam began to speak his prophecy and said, “Balak has brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains. 'Come, curse Jacob for me,' he said. 'Come, defy Israel.'
8 Ndingatemberere bwanji amene Mulungu sanawatemberere? Ndinganyoze bwanji amene Yehova sanawanyoze?
How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I oppose those whom Yahweh does not oppose?
9 Kuchokera pamwamba pa mapiri ndikuona anthu, ndikuwaona kuchokera pa zitunda. Ndikuona anthu okhala pawokha, osakhala mʼgulu limodzi ndi mitundu ina.
For from the top of the rocks I see him; from the hills I look at him. See, there is a people who live alone and do not consider themselves as just an ordinary nation.
10 Ndani angawerenge zidzukulu za Yakobo zochuluka ngati fumbi, kapena chimodzi mwa zigawo zinayi za Israeli? Lekeni ndife imfa ya oyera mtima, ndi chimaliziro changa chikhale ngati chawo!”
Who can count the dust of Jacob or number even only one-fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of a righteous person, and let my life's end be like his!”
11 Balaki anati kwa Balaamu, “Wandichitira chiyani? Ndinakuyitana kuti utemberere adani anga, ndipo taona, sunachite chilichonse koma kuwadalitsa!”
Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but look, you have blessed them.”
12 Iye anayankha kuti, “Kodi sindinayenera kuyankhula zimene Yehova anandiwuza?”
Balaam answered and said, “Should I not be careful to say only what Yahweh puts in my mouth?”
13 Kenaka Balaki anawuza Balaamu kuti, “Tiye tipite limodzi ku malo ena komwe ungawaone. Udzangoona gulu limodzi osati onsewo. Ndipo pamenepo, ukawatemberere mʼmalo mwanga.”
So Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place where you can see them. You will only see the nearest of them, not all of them. There you will curse them for me.”
14 Tsono anamutengera ku munda wa Zofimu pamwamba pa phiri la Pisiga ndipo kumeneko anamanga maguwa ansembe asanu ndi awiri ndipo anapereka nsembe ngʼombe yayimuna imodzi ndi nkhosa yayimuna imodzi pa guwa lansembe lililonse.
So he took Balaam into the field of Zophim, to the top of Mount Pisgah, and built seven more altars. He offered up a bull and a ram on each altar.
15 Balaamu anawuza Balaki kuti, “Khalani pano pafupi ndi nsembe yanu pamene ine ndikukakumana ndi Mulungu cha uko.”
Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stand here by your burnt offering, while I meet with Yahweh over there.”
16 Yehova anakumana ndi Balaamu ndipo anamuyankhula kuti, “Bwerera kwa Balaki ndipo ukamuwuze uthenga uwu.”
So Yahweh met Balaam and put a message in his mouth. He said, “Return to Balak and give him my message.”
17 Ndipo anapita kwa iye ndipo anamupeza atayimirira pafupi ndi nsembe yake pamodzi ndi akuluakulu a ku Mowabu. Balaki anafunsa Balaamu kuti, “Yehova wayankhula chiyani?”
Balaam returned to him, and look, he was standing by his burnt offering, and the leaders of Moab were with him. Then Balak said to him, “What has Yahweh said?”
18 Pamenepo Balaamu ananena uthenga wake: “Nyamuka Balaki ndipo tamvera; Undimvere iwe mwana wa Zipori.
Balaam began his prophecy. He said, “Rise up, Balak, and hear. Listen to me, you son of Zippor.
19 Mulungu si munthu kuti aname, kapena mwana wa munthu kuti asinthe maganizo ake. Kodi amayankhula koma osachita? Kodi amalonjeza koma osakwaniritsa?
God is not a man, that he should lie, Or a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he promised anything without doing it? Has he said he would do something without carrying it out?
20 Wandilamula kuti ndidalitse, Iyeyo wadalitsa ndipo sindingasinthe.
Look, I have been commanded to bless. God has given a blessing, and I cannot reverse it.
21 “Palibe kuwukira kulikonse kumene wakuona mwa Yakobo, sanaone chovuta mu Israeli. Yehova Mulungu wawo ali nawo: mfuwu wa mfumu uli pakati pawo.
He has seen no hardship in Jacob or trouble in Israel. Yahweh their God is with them, and shouts for their king are among them.
22 Mulungu wowatulutsa mʼdziko la Igupto, ali ndi mphamvu ngati za njati.
God brought them out of Egypt with strength like that of a wild ox.
23 Palibe matsenga amene angalimbane ndi Yakobo, palibe mawula amene angalimbane ndi Israeli. Tsopano za Yakobo ndi Israeli adzanena kuti, ‘Onani zimene Mulungu wachita!’
There is no sorcery that works against Jacob, and no fortune-telling harms Israel. Instead, it must be said about Jacob and Israel, 'Look what God has done!'
24 Taonani, anthu anyamuka ngati mkango waukazi; adzuka okha ngati mkango waumuna umene supuma mpaka utadya nyama imene wagwira ndi kumwa magazi a nyama yogwidwayo.”
Look, the people rise like a lioness, as a lion emerges and attacks. He does not lie down until he eats his victim and drinks the blood of what he has killed.”
25 Ndipo Balaki anati kwa Balaamu, “Usawatemberere ndi pangʼono pomwe kapena kuwadalitsa!
Then Balak said to Balaam, “Do not curse them or bless them at all.”
26 “Balaamu anayankha Balaki kuti, ‘Kodi sindinakuwuzeni kuti ndiyenera kuchita zimene Yehova wanena?’”
But Balaam answered and said to Balak, “Did I not tell you that I must say all that Yahweh tells me to say?”
27 Kenaka Balaki anati kwa Balaamu, “Bwera ndikutengere ku malo ena. Mwina chidzamukondweretsa Mulungu kuti uwatemberere kumeneko mʼmalo mwanga.”
So Balak replied to Balaam, “Come now, I will take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God for you to curse them there for me.”
28 Ndipo Balaki anamutengera Balaamu pamwamba pa Peori, poyangʼanana ndi chipululu.
So Balak took Balaam to the top of Mount Peor, which looks down on the wilderness.
29 Balaamu anati kwa Balaki, “Mundimangire maguwa ansembe asanu ndi awiri pano ndipo mundikonzere ngʼombe zazimuna zisanu ndi ziwiri, nkhosa zazimuna zisanu ndi ziwiri.”
Balaam said to Balak, “Build me seven altars here and prepare seven bulls and seven rams.”
30 Balaki anachita monga Balaamu ananenera ndipo anapereka nsembe ngʼombe imodzi yayimuna ndi nkhosa imodzi yayimuna pa guwa lililonse.
So Balak did as Balaam had said; he offered up a bull and a ram on each altar.
