< Mateyu 4 >
1 Pambuyo pake Yesu anatsogozedwa ndi Mzimu Woyera kupita ku chipululu kukayesedwa ndi mdierekezi.
Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.
2 Ndipo atasala kudya masiku makumi anayi usana ndi usiku, anamva njala.
After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3 Woyesayo anadza kwa Iye nati, “Ngati ndinu mwana wa Mulungu, sandutsani miyala iyi kuti ikhale buledi.”
Then the tempter came up to him and said, “If yoʋ are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”
4 Yesu anayankha kuti, “Zalembedwa, ‘Munthu sadzakhala ndi moyo ndi chakudya chokha, koma ndi mawu aliwonse ochokera mʼkamwa mwa Mulungu.’”
But Jesus answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 Pamenepo mdierekezi anapita naye ku mzinda woyera namuyimiritsa pamwamba penipeni pa Nyumba ya Mulungu.
Then the devil took him to the holy city, set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 Ndipo anati, “Ngati ndinu Mwana wa Mulungu, dziponyeni nokha pansi. Pakuti kwalembedwa: “‘Adzalamulira angelo ake za iwe, ndipo adzakunyamula ndi manja awo kuti phazi lako lisagunde pa mwala.’”
and said to him, “If yoʋ are the Son of God, throw yoʋrself down, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning yoʋ,’ and, ‘In their hands they will lift yoʋ up, so that yoʋ do not strike yoʋr foot against a stone.’”
7 Yesu anamuyankha kuti, “Kwalembedwanso: ‘Musamuyese Yehova Mulungu wanu.’”
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘Yoʋ shall not put the Lord yoʋr God to the test.’”
8 Kenaka mdierekezi anamutengera Yesu ku phiri lalitali kwambiri namuonetsa maufumu onse a dziko lapansi ndi ulemerero wawo.
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
9 Ndipo anati kwa Iye, “Zonsezi ndidzakupatsani ngati mutandiweramira ndi kundipembedza ine.”
And he said to him, “All these things I will give yoʋ, if yoʋ will fall down and worship me.”
10 Yesu anati kwa iye, “Choka Satana! Zalembedwa, ‘Pembedza Yehova Mulungu wako ndi kumutumikira Iye yekha.’”
Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘Yoʋ shall worship the Lord yoʋr God, and him only shall yoʋ serve.’”
11 Pamenepo mdierekezi anamusiya ndipo angelo anamutumikira Iye.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
12 Yesu atamva kuti Yohane anamutsekera mʼndende, anabwerera ku Galileya.
Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee.
13 Ndipo atachoka ku Nazareti anapita ku Kaperenawo ndi kukhala mʼmbali mwa nyanja, mʼdera la Zebuloni ndi Nafutali;
And leaving Nazareth, he went and dwelt at Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 pokwaniritsa zimene zinanenedwa kudzera mwa mneneri Yesaya kuti,
so that what had been spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
15 “Dziko la Zebuloni ndi dziko la Nafutali, njira ya ku nyanja, kutsidya lija la Yorodani, Galileya wa anthu a mitundu ina,
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 anthu okhala mu mdima awona kuwala kwakukulu; ndi kwa iwo okhala mʼdziko la mthunzi wa imfa kuwunika kwawafikira.”
the people sitting in darkness have seen a great light, and on those sitting in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.”
17 Kuyambira nthawi imeneyo, Yesu anayamba kulalikira nati, “Tembenukani mtima ufumu wakumwamba wayandikira.”
From that time Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has drawn near.”
18 Pamene Yesu ankayenda mʼmbali mwa nyanja ya Galileya, anaona abale awiri, Simoni wotchedwa Petro ndi mʼbale wake Andreya akuponya khoka mʼnyanja popeza anali asodzi.
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
19 Yesu anati, “Bwerani, tsateni Ine ndipo ndidzakusandutsani asodzi a anthu.”
Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
20 Nthawi yomweyo anasiya makoka awo namutsata Iye.
So they immediately left their nets and followed him.
21 Atapita patsogolo, anaona abale ena awiri, Yakobo ndi mʼbale wake Yohane ana a Zebedayo. Iwowa anali mʼbwato ndi abambo awo, Zebedayo, akukonza makoka awo ndipo Yesu anawayitana.
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.
22 Nthawi yomweyo anasiya bwato ndi abambo awo namutsata Iye.
So they immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.
23 Yesu anayendayenda mu Galileya kuphunzitsa mʼmasunagoge awo, nalalikira Uthenga Wabwino wa ufumu ndi kuchiritsa matenda onse pakati pa anthu.
Then Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
24 Mbiri yake yonse inawanda ku Siriya konse ndipo anthu anabweretsa kwa Iye onse amene anali odwala nthenda zosiyanasiyana, womva maululu aakulu, ogwidwa ndi ziwanda, odwala matenda akugwa ndi olumala ndipo Iye anawachiritsa.
So the news about him went out into all of Syria, and the people brought to him all who were sick with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics. And he healed them.
25 Magulu ambiri a anthu anachokera ku Galileya, Dekapoli, Yerusalemu, Yudeya ndi ku madera a kutsidya la mtsinje wa Yorodani namutsata Iye.
And large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
