< Marko 6 >

1 Yesu anachoka kumeneko napita ku mudzi kwawo, pamodzi ndi ophunzira ake.
Leaving that place He came into His own country, accompanied by His disciples.
2 Tsiku la Sabata litafika, anayamba kuphunzitsa mʼsunagoge, ndipo ambiri amene anamumva anadabwa. Iwo anafunsa kuti, “Kodi munthu uyu anazitenga kuti zimenezi? Kodi ndi nzeru yotani imene munthu ameneyu wapatsidwa, kuti Iye akuchitanso zodabwitsa!
On the Sabbath He proceeded to teach in the synagogue; and many, as they heard Him, were astonished. "Where did he acquire all this?" they asked. "What is this wisdom that has been given to him? And what are these marvellous miracles which his hands perform?
3 Kodi uyu si mpalamatabwa uja? Kodi uyu si mwana wa Mariya ndi mʼbale wa Yakobo, Yose, Yudasi ndi Simoni? Kodi alongo ake si ali ndi ife?” Ndipo anakhumudwa naye.
Is not this the carpenter, Mary's son, the brother of James and Joses, Jude and Simon? And do not his sisters live here among us?" So they turned angrily away.
4 Yesu anawawuza kuti, “Mneneri amalemekezedwa kulikonse kupatula kwawo, ndi pakati pa abale ake ndi a mʼbanja mwake.”
But Jesus said to them, "There is no Prophet without honour except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own home."
5 Sanachite zodabwitsa kumeneko, koma anangosanjika manja pa odwala ochepa ndi kuwachiritsa.
And He could not do any miracle there, except that He laid His hands on a few who were out of health and cured them; and
6 Ndipo Iye anadabwa chifukwa chakusowa chikhulupiriro kwawo. Pamenepo Yesu anayenda mudzi ndi mudzi kuphunzitsa.
He wondered at their unbelief. So He went round the adjacent villages, teaching.
7 Atayitana khumi ndi awiriwo, Iye anawatuma awiriawiri ndipo anawapatsa ulamuliro pa mizimu yoyipa.
Then summoning the Twelve to Him, He proceeded to send them out by twos, and gave them authority over the foul spirits.
8 Zomwe anawalangiza ndi izi: “Musatenge kanthu ka paulendo koma ndodo yokha; osatenga buledi, thumba, kapena ndalama.
He charged them to take nothing for the journey except a stick; no bread, no bag, and not a penny in their pockets,
9 Muvale nsapato koma osatenga malaya apadera.
but to go wearing sandals. "And do not," He said, "put on an extra under garment.
10 Pamene mulowa mʼnyumba mukakhale momwemo kufikira mutachoka mʼmudzimo.
Wherever you enter a house, make it your home till you leave that place.
11 Ndipo ngati pa malo ena sakakulandirani kapena kukumverani, sasani fumbi la kumapazi anu pamene mukuchoka, kuti ukhale umboni wowatsutsa.”
But wherever they will not receive you or listen to you, when you leave shake off the very dust from under your feet to bear witness concerning them."
12 Anatuluka kupita kukalalikira kuti anthu atembenuke mtima.
So they set out, and preached in order that men might repent.
13 Anatulutsa ziwanda zambiri ndi kudzoza mafuta odwala ambiri ndi kuwachiritsa.
Many demons they expelled, and many invalids they anointed with oil and cured.
14 Mfumu Herode anamva zimenezi, pakuti dzina la Yesu linali litadziwika kwambiri. Ena amati, “Yohane Mʼbatizi waukitsidwa kwa akufa, ndipo nʼchifukwa chake mphamvu zochita zodabwitsa zinkagwira ntchito mwa Iye.”
King Herod heard of all this (for the name of Jesus had become widely known), and he kept saying, "John the Baptizer has come back to life, and that is why these miraculous Powers are working in him."
15 Ena anati, “Iye ndi Eliya.” Enanso anati, “Ndi mneneri, ofanana ndi mmodzi wa aneneri akale.”
Others asserted that He was Elijah. Others again said, "He is a Prophet, like one of the great Prophets."
16 Koma Herode atamva zimenezi anati, “Yohane, munthu amene ndinamudula mutu, waukitsidwa kuchokera kwa akufa.”
But when Herod heard of Him, he said, "The John, whom I beheaded, has come back to life."
17 Pakuti Herode iye mwini analamula kuti amumange Yohane ndi kumuyika mʼndende. Anachita izi chifukwa cha Herodia, mkazi wa mʼbale wake Filipo, amene iye anamukwatira.
For Herod himself had sent and had had John arrested and had kept him in prison in chains, for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; because he had married her.
18 Pakuti Yohane ankanena kwa Herode kuti, “Sikololedwa kwa inu kuti mukwatire mkazi wa mʼbale wanu.”
For John had repeatedly told Herod, "You have no right to be living with your brother's wife."
19 Ndipo Herodia anamusungira Yohane chidani ndipo anafuna kumupha, koma sanathe kutero,
Therefore Herodias hated him and wished to take his life, but could not;
20 chifukwa Herode anaopa Yohane ndipo anamuteteza, podziwa kuti iye anali munthu wolungama ndi woyera mtima. Herode akamamva Yohane, ankathedwa nzeru; komabe amakonda kumumvetsera.
for Herod stood in awe of John, knowing him to be an upright and holy man, and he protected him. After listening to him he was in great perplexity, and yet he found a pleasure in listening.
21 Pomaliza mpata unapezeka. Pa tsiku lokumbukira kubadwa kwake, Herode anakonzera phwando akuluakulu ake, akulu a ankhondo ndi anthu odziwika a mu Galileya.
At length Herodias found her opportunity. Herod on his birthday gave a banquet to the nobles of his court and to the tribunes and the principal people in Galilee,
22 Mwana wamkazi wa Herodia atabwera ndi kudzavina, anakondweretsa Herode ndi alendo ake a pa mphwandopo. Mfumu inati kwa mtsikanayo, “Undipemphe chilichonse chimene ukuchifuna, ndipo ndidzakupatsa.”
at which Herodias's own daughter came in and danced, and so charmed Herod and his guests that he said to her, "Ask me for anything you please, and I will give it to you."
23 Ndipo analonjeza ndi lumbiriro kuti, “Chilichonse chimene upempha ndidzakupatsa, ngakhale theka la ufumu wanga.”
He even swore to her, "Whatever you ask me for I will give you, up to half my kingdom."
24 Iye anatuluka nati kwa amayi ake, “Kodi ndikapemphe chiyani?” Iye anamuyankha kuti, “Mutu wa Yohane Mʼbatizi.”
She at once went out and said to her mother: "What shall I ask for?" "The head of John the Baptizer," she replied.
25 Nthawi yomweyo mtsikana uja anafulumira kupita komwe kunali mfumu ndi pempho lake: “Ndikufuna kuti mundipatse pomwe pano mutu wa Yohane Mʼbatizi mʼmbale.”
The girl immediately came in, in haste, to the King and made her request. "My desire is," she said, "that you will give me, here and now, on a dish, the head of John the Baptist."
26 Mfumu inamva chisoni chachikulu, koma chifukwa cha lumbiro lake ndi alendo ake a pa mphwandolo, sanafune kumukaniza.
Then the King, though intensely sorry, yet for the sake of his oaths, and of his guests, would not break faith with her.
27 Nthawi yomweyo iye anatumiza yemwe anali ndi ulamuliro wonyonga anthu kuti abweretse mutu wa Yohane. Munthuyo anapita, nakadula mutu wa Yohane mʼndende,
He at once sent a soldier of his guard with orders to bring John's head. So he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 nabweretsa mutuwo mʼmbale. Anawupereka kwa mtsikanayo, ndipo iye anakapereka kwa amayi ake.
and brought his head on a dish and gave it to the young girl, who gave it to her mother.
29 Atamva izi, ophunzira a Yohane anabwera nadzatenga mtembo ndi kukawuyika mʼmanda.
When John's disciples heard of it, they came and took away his body and laid it in a tomb.
30 Atumwi anasonkhana mozungulira Yesu namufotokozera zonse zomwe anachita ndi kuphunzitsa.
When the Apostles had re-assembled round Jesus, they reported to Him all they had done and all they had taught.
31 Popeza kuti panali anthu ambiri amene amabwera ndi kumapita, analibe mpata wakuti adye, ndipo Iye anawawuza kuti, “Tiyeni kuno kumalo achete kuti tikapume.”
Then He said to them, "Come away, all of you, to a quiet place, and rest awhile." For there were many coming and going, so that they had no time even for meals.
32 Ndipo anachoka okha pa bwato napita kumalo a okhaokha.
Accordingly they sailed away in the boat to a solitary place apart.
33 Koma ambiri amene anawaona akuchoka anawazindikira ndipo anathamanga wapansi kuchokera mʼmidzi yonse nakayambirira kufika.
But the people saw them going, and many knew them; and coming by land they ran together there from all the neighbouring towns, and arrived before them.
34 Yesu atafika ku mtunda ndi kuona gulu lalikulu la anthu, anamva nawo chisoni chifukwa anali ngati nkhosa zopanda mʼbusa. Ndipo anayamba kuwaphunzitsa zinthu zambiri.
So when Jesus landed, He saw a vast multitude; and His heart was moved with pity for them, because they were like sheep which have no shepherd, and He proceeded to teach them many things.
35 Pa nthawi iyi nʼkuti dzuwa litapendeka, ndipo ophunzira ake anabwera kwa Iye nati, “Kuno ndi kuthengo, ndipo ano ndi madzulo.
By this time it was late; so His disciples came to Him, and said, "This is a lonely place, and the hour is now late:
36 Awuzeni anthuwa azipita ku midzi ndi madera ozungulira, kuti akadzigulire kanthu kakuti adye.”
send them away that they may go to the farms and villages near here and buy themselves something to eat."
37 Koma Iye anayankha kuti, “Apatseni kanthu koti adye.” Iwo anati kwa Iye, “Apa pafunika ndalama za miyezi isanu ndi itatu zomwe munthu amalandira! Kodi tipite kukagwiritsa ntchito ndalama zotere kugulira buledi kuti tiwapatse adye?”
"Give them food yourselves," He replied. "Are we," they asked, "to go and buy two hundred shillings' worth of bread and give them food?"
38 Iye anawafunsa kuti, “Muli ndi malofu a buledi angati? Pitani mukaone.” Ataona anati kwa Iye, “Asanu ndi nsomba ziwiri.”
"How many loaves have you?" He inquired; "go and see." So they found out, and said, "Five; and a couple of fish."
39 Pamenepo Yesu anawalamulira kuti awakhazike anthu pansi mʼmagulu pa msipu obiriwira.
So He directed them to make all sit down in companies on the green grass.
40 Ndipo anakhala pansi mʼmagulu a anthu 100 ndi gulu la anthu makumi asanu.
And they sat down in rows of hundreds and of fifties.
41 Atatenga malofu a buledi asanu ndi nsomba ziwiri, nayangʼana kumwamba, Iye anayamika nagawa malofu a bulediwo. Kenaka anawapatsa ophunzira ake kuti awapatse anthu. Ndipo anagawanso nsomba ziwirizo kwa onse.
Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and lifting His eyes to Heaven He blessed the food. Then He broke the loaves into portions which He went on handing to the disciples to distribute; giving pieces also of the two fish to them all.
42 Onse anadya ndipo anakhuta,
All ate and were fully satisfied.
43 ndipo ophunzira ake anatola buledi ndi nsomba zotsalira zokwanira madengu khumi ndi awiri.
And they carried away broken portions enough to fill twelve baskets, besides pieces of the fish.
44 Chiwerengero cha amuna amene anadya chinali 5,000.
Those who ate the bread were 5,000 adult men.
45 Nthawi yomweyo Yesu anawuza ophunzira ake kuti alowe mʼbwato ndi kuti atsogole kupita ku Betisaida, pamene Iye ankawuza anthu kuti azipita.
Immediately afterwards He made His disciples go on board the boat and cross over to Bethsaida, leaving Him behind to dismiss the crowd.
46 Atawasiya, Iye anakwera ku phiri kukapemphera.
He then bade the people farewell, and went away up the hill to pray.
47 Pofika madzulo, bwato linali pakati pa nyanja, ndipo Iye anali yekha pa mtunda.
When evening was come, the boat was half way across the Lake, while he Himself was on shore alone.
48 Iye anaona ophunzira ake akuvutika popalasa bwato, chifukwa mphepo imawomba mokumana nawo. Pa nthawi ya mʼbandakucha Iye anafika kwa iwo akuyenda pa nyanja. Anali pafupi kuwapitirira,
But when He saw them distressed with rowing (for the wind was against them), towards morning He came towards them walking on the Lake, as if intending to pass them.
49 koma atamuona Iye akuyenda pa nyanja, anaganiza kuti anali mzukwa. Iwo anafuwula,
They saw Him walking on the water, and thinking that it was a spirit they cried out;
50 pakuti onse anamuona ndipo anachita mantha. Nthawi yomweyo Iye anawayankhula nati, “Limbani mtima! Ndine. Musachite mantha.”
for they all saw Him and were terrified. He, however, immediately spoke to them. "There is no danger," He said; "it is I; be not alarmed."
51 Ndipo Iye anakwera mʼbwato pamodzi nawo, ndipo mphepo inaleka. Iwo anadabwa kwambiri,
Then He went up to them on board the boat, and the wind lulled; and they were beside themselves with silent amazement.
52 popeza sanazindikire zimene zinachitika pa malofu a buledi; pakuti mitima yawo inali yowuma.
For they had not learned the lesson taught by the loaves, but their minds were dull.
53 Atawoloka, anafika ku Genesareti nayima pa dooko.
Having crossed over they drew to land in Gennesaret and came to anchor.
54 Atangotuluka mʼbwato, anthu anamuzindikira Yesu.
But no sooner had they gone ashore than the people immediately recognized Him.
55 Anathamanga uku ndi uko mʼdera lonse nakanyamula odwala pa machira kupita nawo kulikonse kumene anamva kuti kuli Iye.
Then they scoured the whole district, and began to bring Him the sick on their mats wherever they heard He was.
56 Ndipo kulikonse kumene anapita, ku midzi, mʼmizinda ndi madera a ku midzi, iwo anayika odwala mʼmalo a mʼmisika. Iwo anamupempha kuti awalole kuti akhudze ngakhale mphonje za mkanjo wake, ndipo onse amene anamukhudza anachira.
And enter wherever He might--village or town or hamlet--they laid their sick in the open places, and entreated Him to let them touch were it but the tassel of His robe; and all, whoever touched Him, were restored to health.
