< Luka 7 >

1 Yesu atamaliza kunena zonsezi pamaso pa anthu amene ankamvetsera, analowa mu Kaperenawo.
When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
2 Kumeneko wantchito wa Kenturiyo, amene amamukhulupirira kwambiri, anadwala ndipo anali pafupi kufa.
There a centurion's servant, who was highly regarded by his master, was sick and about to die.
3 Kenturiyo anamva za Yesu ndipo anatumiza ena a akulu Ayuda kwa Iye kuti abwere adzachiritse wantchito wakeyo.
The centurion heard about Jesus and sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
4 Iwo atafika kwa Yesu, anamudandaulira kwambiri, nati, “Munthuyu ayenera kuthandizidwa
When they came to Jesus, they earnestly pleaded with him, saying, “This man is worthy to have yoʋ do this for him,
5 chifukwa amakonda mtundu wathu ndipo anatimangira sunagoge wathu.”
for he loves our nation and built our synagogue for us.”
6 Pamenepo Yesu anapita nawo. Iye sanali patali ndi nyumba pamene Kenturiyo anatumiza anzake kuti akamuwuze kuti, “Ambuye, musadzivutitse, pakuti ndine wosayenera kuti mulowe mʼnyumba mwanga.
So Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yoʋrself, for I am not worthy to have yoʋ enter under my roof;
7 Nʼchifukwa chake sindinadziyenereze ndi pangʼono pomwe kuti ndibwere kwa inu. Koma nenani mawu, ndipo wantchito wanga adzachira.
therefore I did not even consider myself worthy to come to yoʋ. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 Pakuti ndili pansi paulamuliro, ndiponso ndili ndi asilikali pansi panga. Ndikamuwuza uyu kuti, ‘Pita,’ iye amapita; ndi uyo kuti, ‘Bwera,’ amabwera. Ndikamuwuza wantchito wanga kuti, ‘Chita ichi,’ amachita.”
For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 Yesu atamva izi, anadabwa naye, ndipo anatembenukira gulu la anthu limene limamutsatira nati, “Ndikukuwuzani kuti, sindinapeze chikhulupiriro chachikulu ngati ichi mu Israeli.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at the centurion. And turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”
10 Kenaka anthu amene anatumidwawo anabwerera ku nyumba ndipo anakamupeza wantchitoyo atachira.
Then the men the centurion had sent returned to the house and found that the servant who had been sick was well.
11 Zitangotha izi, Yesu anapita ku mudzi wa Naini ndipo ophunzira ake ndi gulu lalikulu la anthu linapita naye pamodzi.
Soon afterward Jesus went to a town called Nain, and many of his disciples went with him, along with a large crowd.
12 Akufika pa chipata cha mudziwo, anakumana ndi anthu amene ankatuluka ndi munthu wakufa amene anali mwana yekhayo wa mkazi wamasiye. Gulu lalikulu la anthu a mʼmudziwo linali naye.
As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the one and only son of his mother (who was a widow). And a large crowd from the town was with her.
13 Ambuye atamuona mayiyo, mtima wawo unagwidwa naye chifundo ndipo anati, “Usalire.”
When the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
14 Kenaka anapita nakakhudza chithatha cha maliro ndipo amene anachinyamulawo anayima. Iye anati, “Mnyamata, ndikukuwuza kuti, dzuka!”
Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who were carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to yoʋ, arise!”
15 Wakufayo anakhala tsonga ndi kuyamba kuyankhula, ndipo Yesu anamupereka mnyamatayo kwa amayi ake.
So the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 Onse anachita mantha kwambiri nalemekeza Mulungu. Iwo anati, “Mneneri wamkulu waonekera pakati pathu. Mulungu wabwera kudzathandiza anthu ake.”
Then all the people were filled with awe and began glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us,” and, “God has visited his people.”
17 Mbiriyi inafalikira ku Yudeya konse ndi ku madera ozungulira.
This news about Jesus then spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding region.
18 Ndipo ophunzira a Yohane anamuwuza Yohaneyo zinthu zonsezi. Atayitana awiri a ophunzirawo,
John's disciples told him about all these things.
19 anawatumiza kwa Ambuye kukafunsa kuti, “Kodi ndinu anayenera kubwerayo, kapena tiyembekezere wina?”
So John called two of his disciples and sent them to ask Jesus, “Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?”
20 Anthuwo atafika kwa Yesu anati, “Yohane Mʼbatizi watituma kwa Inu kuti tidzafunse kuti, ‘Kodi ndinu anayenera kubwerayo, kapena tiyembekezere wina?’”
When the men came to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to yoʋ to ask, ‘Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?’”
21 Pa nthawi yomweyo, Yesu anachiritsa ambiri amene ankavutika, odwala ndi amene anali mizimu yoyipa, ndiponso anapenyetsa anthu osaona.
Now in that very hour Jesus had healed many people of diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind.
22 Ndipo Iye anawayankha otumidwawo kuti, “Bwererani ndi kukamuwuza Yohane zimene mwaona ndi kumva: Osaona akuona, olumala akuyenda, akhate akuchiritsidwa, osamva akumva, akufa akuukitsidwa, ndipo Uthenga Wabwino ukulalikidwa kwa osauka.
So Jesus replied to John's disciples, “Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news preached to them.
23 Odala munthu amene sakhumudwa chifukwa cha Ine.”
And blessed is anyone who does not take offense at me.”
24 Anthu otumidwa ndi Yohane aja atachoka, Yesu anayamba kuyankhula ndi gulu la anthu za Yohaneyo kuti, “Kodi munkapita ku chipululu kukaona chiyani? Bango logwedezeka ndi mphepo?
When John's messengers had gone away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25 Ngati si choncho, munkapita kukaona chiyani? Munthu wovala zovala zabwino? Ayi, ovala zovala zodula ndi okhala moyo wapamwamba ali mʼnyumba zaufumu.
What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and who live in luxury are in royal palaces.
26 Koma inu munkapita kukaona chiyani? Mneneri? Inde, Ine ndikukuwuzani, woposa mneneri.
But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
27 Uyu ndi amene malemba akunena za Iye kuti, “‘Ine ndidzatuma mthenga wanga patsogolo panu, amene adzakonza njira yanu.’
This is the one of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of yoʋ, who will prepare yoʋr way before yoʋ.’
28 Ine ndikukuwuzani kuti pakati pa obadwa kuchokera mwa mkazi palibe wina wamkulu kuposa Yohane; komabe amene ali wamngʼono mu ufumu wa Mulungu ndi wamkulu kuposa iye.”
For I tell you, among those born of women there is no prophet greater than John the Baptist, but whoever is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29 Anthu onse, ngakhale amisonkho, atamva mawu a Yesu, anavomereza kuti njira ya Mulungu ndi yolondola, chifukwa anabatizidwa ndi Yohane.
(When all the people heard this, including the tax collectors, they affirmed that God's way was right, because they had been baptized with the baptism of John.
30 Koma Afarisi ndi akatswiri amalamulo anakana cholinga cha Mulungu kwa iwo okha, chifukwa sanabatizidwe ndi Yohane.
But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)
31 “Kodi ndingawafanizire chiyani anthu a mʼbado uno? Ali ngati chiyani?
Jesus went on to say, “To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?
32 Ali ngati ana amene akukangana pa msika, ena akufunsa anzawo kuti, “‘Ife tinakuyimbirani chitoliro, koma inu simunavine. Tinakuyimbirani nyimbo zamaliro, koma inu simunalire.’
They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call out to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we sang a lament for you, but you did not weep.’
33 Pakuti Yohane Mʼbatizi sanabwere kudzadya buledi kapena kumwa vinyo, koma inu mumati, ‘Ali ndi chiwanda.’
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
34 Mwana wa Munthu anabwera nadya ndi kumwa, ndipo inu mukuti, ‘Ali ndi dyera komanso ndi woledzera, bwenzi la amisonkho ndi ochimwa.’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
35 Ndipo nzeru zimaoneka zolondola mwa ana ake onse.”
Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”
36 Tsopano mmodzi mwa Afarisi anayitana Yesu kuti akadye naye ku nyumba kwake ndipo anapita nakakhala pa tebulo.
One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, so he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table.
37 Mayi amene amakhala moyo wauchimo mu mzindawo atadziwa kuti Yesu akudya ku nyumba ya Mfarisiyo, anabweretsa botolo la mafuta onunkhira a alabasta.
And behold, when a woman in that city who was a sinner found out that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38 Iye anayimirira kumbuyo kwa Yesu pa mapazi ake akulira, nayamba kumadontheza misozi pa mapazi ake. Ndipo iye anapukuta mapaziwo ndi tsitsi lake, nawapsompsona ndi kuwathira mafuta onunkhirawo.
As she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Mfarisiyo anamuyitanayo ataona izi, anati mu mtima mwake, “Ngati munthuyu akanakhala mneneri, akanadziwa kuti akumukhudzayo ndi mayi otani, kuti ndi wochimwa.”
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Yesu anamuyankha iye kuti, “Simoni, ndili ndi kanthu koti ndikuwuze.” Iye anati, “Ndiwuzeni Aphunzitsi.”
Jesus said to him in response, “Simon, I have something to say to yoʋ.” So he said, “Say it, Teacher.”
41 “Anthu awiri anakongola ndalama kwa munthu wina wokongoletsa ndalama: mmodzi ndalama zokwana 500 ndi winayo ndalama makumi asanu.
“A certain moneylender had two debtors. The one owed him five hundred denarii, and the other owed him fifty.
42 Panalibe mmodzi mwa iwo anali ndi ndalama zobwezera, ndipo iye anawakhululukira ngongole zawo. Tsopano ndi ndani mwa awiriwa adzamukonde koposa?”
When they did not have the means to repay, he forgave the debts of them both. So tell me, which of them will love him more?”
43 Simoni anayankha kuti, “Ndikuganiza kuti ndi amene anamukhululukira ngongole yayikulu.” Yesu anati, “Wayankha molondola.”
Simon answered, “I suppose that it would be the one for whom he forgave the larger debt.” Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have judged correctly.”
44 Kenaka anatembenukira kwa mayiyo nati kwa Simoni, “Ukumuona mayiyu? Ine ndabwera mʼnyumba yako. Iwe sunandipatse madzi otsukira mapazi anga, koma iyeyu wanyowetsa mapazi anga ndi misozi yake ndi kuwapukuta ndi tsitsi lake.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do yoʋ see this woman? When I came into yoʋr house, yoʋ did not give me water for my feet, but this woman has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45 Iwe sunandipsompsone, koma mayiyu, kuyambira pamene Ine ndalowa, sanaleke kupsompsona mapazi anga.
Yoʋ did not give me a kiss, but from the time I came in, this woman has not stopped kissing my feet.
46 Iwe sunadzoze mutu wanga mafuta, koma iye wadzoza mapazi anga mafuta onunkhira.
Yoʋ did not anoint my head with oil, but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Tsono, ndikukuwuza iwe, machimo ake amene ndi ambiri akhululukidwa, monga chaonetsera chikondi chake chachikulu. Koma iye amene wakhululukidwa zochepa amakonda pangʼono.”
Therefore I tell yoʋ, her many sins are forgiven; that is why she has shown great love. But he to whom little is forgiven shows little love.”
48 Kenaka anati kwa mayiyo, “Machimo ako akhululukidwa.”
Then Jesus said to her, “Yoʋr sins are forgiven.”
49 Alendo enawo anayamba kumanena mʼmitima mwawo kuti, “Uyu ndi ndani amene akhululukiranso machimo?”
Those who were reclining at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this man that even forgives sins?”
50 Yesu anati kwa mayiyo, “Chikhulupiriro chako chakupulumutsa. Pita mu mtendere.”
And Jesus said to the woman, “Yoʋr faith has saved yoʋ; go in peace.”
