1 Yehova anayankhula ndi Mose ndi Aaroni kuti,
Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
2 “Awuze Aisraeli kuti, ‘Nyama zomwe mukhoza kudya mwa nyama zonse za dziko lapansi ndi izi:
“Speak to the people of Israel, saying, 'These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.
3 Nyama iliyonse imene ili ndi chipondero chogawikana pakati ndi yobzikula mukhoza kudya.
You may eat any animal that has a split hoof and that also chews the cud.
4 “‘Koma pali nyama zina zimene zimabzikula kokha kapena ndi zogawikana zipondero zimene simukuyenera kudya. Nyama zimenezi ndi ngamira, ngakhale imabzikula ilibe zipondero zogawikana. Choncho ndi yodetsedwa, musadye.
However, some animals either chew the cud or have a split hoof, and you must not eat them, animals such as the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof. So the camel is unclean to you.
5 Ina ndi mbira, ngakhale imabzikula, zipondero zake nʼzosagawikana. Choncho ndi yodetsedwa, musadye.
Also the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is also unclean to you.
6 Inanso ndi kalulu, ngakhale amabzikula, zipondero zake nʼzosagawikana. Choncho ndi wodetsedwa, musadye.
The rabbit, because it chews the cud, but does not have a split hoof, is unclean to you.
7 Nkhumba simabzikula ngakhale ili ndi zipondero zogawikana. Choncho ndi yodetsedwa, musadye.
The pig, although it has a split hoof, does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.
8 Musamadye nyama yake kapena kukhudza imene yafa chifukwa ndi yodetsedwa.
You must not eat any of their meat, nor touch their carcasses. They are unclean to you.
9 “‘Mwa zamoyo zonse zimene zimakhala mʼmadzi a mʼnyanja ndi a mʼmitsinje mukhoza kudya chilichonse chimene chili ndi minga ya pa msana ndi mamba.
The animals living in the water that you may eat are all those that have fins and scales, whether in the ocean or in the rivers.
10 Koma zamoyo zonse za mʼnyanja kapena za mʼmitsinje zimene zilibe minga ya pa msana ndi mamba, kaya ndi tizirombo tonse ta mʼmadzi ndi zamoyo zonse zopezeka mʼmenemo ndi zodetsedwa kwa inu.
But all living creatures that do not have fins and scales in the ocean or rivers, including all that move in the water and all the living creatures that are in the water— they must be detested by you.
11 Pakuti zimenezi ndi zodetsedwa kwa inu, nyama yake musadye, ndipo zikafa zikhalebe zodetsedwa kwa inu.
Since they must be detested, you must not eat of their meat; also, their carcasses must be detested.
12 Chamoyo chilichonse cha mʼmadzi chimene chilibe minga ya pa msana kapena mamba ndi chodetsedwa kwa inu.
Whatever has no fins or scales in the water must be detested by you.
13 “‘Mbalame zimene simukuyenera kudya chifukwa ndi zodetsedwa ndi izi: mphungu, nkhwazi, mwimba,
The birds you must detest and that you must not eat are these: the eagle, the vulture,
14 nankapakapa, akamtema a mitundu yonse,
the kite, any kind of falcon,
15 akhungubwi a mitundu yonse,
every kind of raven,
16 kadzidzi wamphondo, kadzidzi wodzuma, chipudo ndi mtundu uliwonse wa akabawi
the horned owl and the screech owl, the seagull, and any kind of hawk.
17 kadzidzi wamngʼono, chiswankhono ndi mantchichi,
You must also detest the little owl and the great owl, the cormorant,
the white owl and the barn owl, the osprey,
19 indwa, zimeza za mitundu yonse, nsadzu ndi mleme.
the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and also the bat.
20 “‘Zowuluka zonse za miyendo inayi ndi zodetsedwa.
All winged insects that walk on four legs are detestable to you.
21 Komabe mwa zowuluka zokhala ndi miyendo inayi zimene mukhoza kudya ndi zokhazo zimene zili ndi miyendo yolumphira.
Yet you may eat any of the flying insects that also walk on four legs if they have jointed legs for hopping on the ground.
22 Pa zimenezo mungathe kudya izi: dzombe la mitundu yonse, atsokonombwe a mitundu yonse, nkhululu za mitundu yonse, ndi ziwala za mitundu yonse.
You may also eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket, or grasshopper.
23 Koma za mapiko zina zonse zokhala ndi miyendo inayi muzitenge kukhala zodetsedwa kwa inu.
But all the flying insects that have four feet must be detested by you.
24 “‘Zimenezi zidzakudetsani. Aliyense wozikhudza zitafa adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo.
You will become unclean until evening by these animals if you touch a carcass of one of them.
25 Aliyense wonyamula chiwalo chilichonse cha nyama zakufazo ayenera kuchapa zovala zake, ndipo adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo.
Whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes and remain unclean until evening.
26 “‘Nyama iliyonse imene ili ndi ziboda zogawikana koma mapazi ake wosagawikana, kapena imene sibzikula muyiyese yodetsedwa kwa inu ndipo munthu aliyense akakhudza nyama yakufayo, adzakhala wodetsedwa.
Every animal which has a split hoof that is not completely divided or which does not chew the cud is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them will be unclean.
27 Mwa nyama zonse zoyenda ndi miyendo inayi, nyama zonse zokhala ndi zikhadabo kuphazi muzitenge kukhala zodetsedwa ndipo aliyense wozikhudza zitafa adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo.
Whatever walks on its paws among all the animals that walk on all four legs, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches such a carcass will be unclean until the evening.
28 Aliyense wonyamula nyamazi zitafa ayenera kuchapa zovala zake, ndipo adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo. Zimenezi ndi zodetsedwa kwa inu.
Whoever picks up such a carcass must wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening. These animals will be unclean to you.
29 “‘Mwa nyama zokwawa, zimene zili zodetsedwa kwa inu ndi izi: likongwe, mbewa, msambulu za mitundu yonse,
Of the animals that creep on the ground, these are the animals that will be unclean to you: the weasel, the rat, every kind of large lizard,
30 gondwa, mngʼazi, buluzi, dududu ndi nanzikambe.
the gecko, the monitor lizard, the lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.
31 Mwa nyama zonse zoyenda pansi, zimenezi ndi zodetsedwa kwa inu. Munthu aliyense wozikhudza zitafa adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo.
Of all the animals that creep, these are the animals which will be unclean to you. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening.
32 Iliyonse mwa nyama zimenezi ikafa ndi kugwera pa chiwiya chilichonse, kaya chimagwira ntchito yotani, kaya ndi chopangidwa ndi mtengo, kaya ndi cha nsalu, kaya ndi cha chikopa kapena chiguduli chiwiyacho chidzakhala chodetsedwa. Muchiviyike mʼmadzi chiwiyacho komabe chidzakhala chodetsedwa mpaka madzulo, ndipo kenaka chidzakhala choyeretsedwa.
If any of them dies and falls on anything, that thing will be unclean, whether it is made of wood, cloth, leather, or sackcloth. Whatever it is and whatever it is used for, it must be put into water; it will be unclean until evening. Then it will be clean.
33 Tsono nyama ina iliyonse mwa zimenezi ikagwera mʼmbiya ya dothi, ndiye kuti chilichonse cha mʼmbiyamo chidzakhala chodetsedwa, ndipo muyenera kuswa mbiyayo.
For every clay pot into or onto which any unclean animal falls, whatever is in the pot will become unclean, and you must destroy that pot.
34 Chakudya chilichonse chimene mungadye chikakhala kuti chathiridwa mʼmbiyamo, ndiye kuti chakudyacho chidzakhala chodetsedwa, ndipo madzi akumwa wochokera mʼmbiya zotere ndi wodetsedwa.
Any food that could be eaten but has water on it from such a pot is unclean. Any liquid that is for drinking from such a pot is unclean.
35 Chiwalo chilichonse cha nyama yakufa chikagwera pa chinthu chilichonse kaya pa uvuni, kapena pa mʼphika, ndiye kuti zinthuzo zidzakhala zodetsedwa, ndipo ziphwanyidwe popeza ndi zodetsedwa.
Anything that one of their carcasses falls on becomes unclean; if it is an oven or small stove, it must be broken to pieces. They are unclean and they must remain unclean to you.
36 Koma kasupe kapena chitsime chamadzi chidzakhala choyeretsedwa ngakhale kuti chilichonse chokhudza nyama yakufayo chidzakhala chodetsedwa. Zimenezi muzitenge kukhala zodetsedwa.
A spring or cistern for collecting water remains clean; but anyone who touches their carcass is unclean.
37 Chiwalo chilichonse cha nyama yakufayo chikagwera pa mbewu zimene akuti adzale, mbewu zimenezo zidzakhalabe zabwino.
If any part of their carcass falls upon any seeds for planting, those seeds will still be clean.
38 Koma mbewuzo zikakhala zonyowa ndi madzi, ndipo chiwalo chilichonse cha nyama zakufazo chikagwera pa mbewuzo, mbewuzo zikhale zodetsedwa kwa inu.
But if water is put on the seeds, and if any part of their carcass falls on them, then they will be unclean to you.
39 “‘Ngati nyama imene mumaloledwa kudya yafa yokha, ndiye kuti aliyense wokhudza nyama yakufayo adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo.
If any animal that you may eat dies, then he who touches the carcass will be unclean until evening.
40 Aliyense amene adyako nyama yakufayo achape zovala zake, ndipo adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo. Aliyense amene wanyamula nyama yakufayo ayenera kuchapa zovala zake, ndipo adzakhala wodetsedwa mpaka madzulo.
Whoever eats any of that carcass must wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. Anyone who picks up such a carcass will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.
41 “‘Chinthu chilichonse chokwawa pansi ndi chonyansa, simuyenera kudya.
Every animal that creeps on the ground is to be detested; it must not be eaten.
42 Musadye chilichonse chokwawa pansi, choyenda chamimba kapena choyenda ndi miyendo inayi kapenanso yambiri popeza ndi chodetsedwa.
Whatever crawls on its belly, and whatever walks on all four legs, or whatever has many feet—all the animals that creep on the ground, these you must not eat, for they are to be detested.
43 Musadzisandutse nokha odetsedwa ndi chokwawa chilichonse. Musadziyipitse nazo, kuti mukhale odetsedwa.
You must not make yourselves unclean with any living creatures that creep; you must not make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be made impure by them.
44 Ine ndine Yehova Mulungu wanu, choncho dziyeretseni kuti mukhale woyera, chifukwa Ine ndine woyera. Musadzisandutse odetsedwa ndi chokwawa chilichonse.
For I am Yahweh your God. You are to keep yourselves holy, therefore, and be holy, because I am holy. You must not defile yourselves with any kind of animal that moves about on the ground.
45 Ine ndine Yehova amene ndinakutulutsani ku Igupto kuti ndikhale Mulungu wanu. Tsono mukhale woyera, chifukwa Ine ndine woyera.
For I am Yahweh, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You must therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46 “‘Amenewa ndi malamulo onena za nyama, mbalame, chamoyo chilichonse choyenda mʼmadzi ndiponso chamoyo chilichonse chokwawa.
This is the law regarding the animals, the birds, every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the ground,
47 Muzisiyanitsa pakati pa chodetsedwa ndi choyeretsedwa, komanso pakati pa zomwe mutha kudya ndi zomwe simuyenera kudya.’”
for which a distinction is to be made between the unclean and the clean, and between the living things that may be eaten and the living things that may not be eaten.'”
